Great video! Since I started watching your videos a few months ago I've been getting back into RC cars. I used to have quite a few back 10 years ago like traxxas E/T maxx which have just been gathering dust. My first project was converting my old Team associated 1/18 to a brushless setup. Next I'm going to do a brushless convertion on my old E Maxx :D

Ever since I started using RC Cars I have been using a 3-D printer and make my own parts on the cheap, Don’t get me wrong they’re not the most durable parts, but for under 10p per part it’s not worth worrying about
That's awesome I talked to a guy who 3d prints stuff outta titanium made some spur gears I have to order them from him yet cant wait to see how they hold up
3D printing plastics are getting better every year. I am printing lots of RC-Parts (For planes mainly) with ASA filament. I even print propellers and they hold up well. Hobby 3D-printing has come a long way and parts will become more durable in the next years. Industrially printed parts are already as strong as milled or molded parts. JetCat uses printed Aluminium parts on their model jet engines.
So hobby 3D-printed parts are not as durable as the original ones but in 5-10 years, things could be very different.
Cool for esc mounts but 3d printed parts still don't hold up at all to bashing. Light aircraft that aren't going to be slammed into the ground is another story.
Just bought one of those servos looking forward to the increased performance.
If that driveshaft keeps it up I'll probably get one for the mine!

What Happens if you don’t tap a new hole in the arm and use the existing ones? Can you just set the endpoints to work with the different geometry

Hi Kevin. I have watched many UA-cam videos on RC cars to help me decide what to get for my first REAL RC car and then I ran into your channel. You're the absolute BEST! I now own a TRAXXAS XMAXX because of you and I think it was better than going with AARMA's trucks.
I was wondering if you could make an "Upgrade for Dummies" video and maybe highlight three stages of upgrades (Beginner, Expert, Professional)? I'd like to see and know what is out there and where or what companies to use for parts also. I am a noob so I don't even know where to start.

you should put an 8s esc in a wltoys 12428 (across)
I made a replacement chassis brace that has a mounting bracket on the bottom side so you can install a 5th scale servo with absolutely no cutting or modifying

I just installed a 1/10 servo in mine and I used an aluminum UDR servo horn works perfect.
2020 Xmaxx out of the box. Does it need shock tuning? More Heavy oil or stiffer springs? Do u have a video on it ?
Did you cut only one piece of the new driveshaft or did you do both? I understand that if it is only the one for a frontal collision, but I feel as if it needs a bit more "give" to it in case the center of the chassis flexes when it lands hard on all fours.
Edit: I also did the chassis and front bulkhead trim myself for the servo I chose. It's a must-do modification if you're running a servo like that to make room for the servo. Very clever.
I have four pairs of stock tires that BROKE! (Use as work bench stands for cars now). Bought DURATRAX SIX PACK X (DTXC5502) BELTED tires. DANG!!! I can even do auto upright without blowing a tire!!! WELL WORTH THE $$$!!! Handling is INSANE!!!
Lol I just bought an xmaxx. I love it. But I bent the driveshaft the second day of owning It. It’s just a slight bend that causes vibes. I also broke the rear bumper the second day as well.

I’ve honestly never had issues with the aluminum center driveshaft. Maybe that means I’m not sending it enough? Lol 😂

Kev, about your BEC and 6 Volt becauce the receiver: Think about Voltage of a fully charged NiMH-Pack with 5 Cells ;-) Thats nearly 7,4 v without damaging the receiver ;-) You can run the reciever with 7,4 v, cause the manufacturers tell us the NOMINAL voltage, and they even know its more wenn fully charged ;-) greets
Nice!! I installed a MKS HBL550 X5 servo and put the Max5 bec on 7.4v and does an awesome job turn now!!! I have been looking into getting “the brace” but I like this different approach but for $100 for everything included seems a bit over priced, No!????

Bad azzz ! I love quality upgrades that drop right in and really do what they say they do.
Integy makes a center drive shaft. I bought it for mine when my stock one took a crap. So far it has stayed perfectly straight and I bash the crap out of it

You could just put a bec between the esc and reciver and then crank the voltage up for the servo.
hey guys new to the RC world, bought a used Xmaxx, noticed some of the screws are a little loose, im afraid to tighten them anymore as they feel like they will totally strip. and advice for repairs? i cant afford a new body yet.

A carrier bearing added to the X-Maxx is an excellent upgrade.

fun fact, i use my traxxas receuvers with 7.2 and 7.4 volt BECs and they work fine for years. Also, these receivers are also used in traxxas nitro trucks, that are running on 5s nimh battery without a problem, and 5s nimh can have even higher voltage if fully charged
For servo, try Holmes Hobbies SHV500v3. I use it in my Kraton EXB and it's impressive!

I have a traxxas rustler 2wd with like 500 us dollers in it and I can never break it most times. it has a goolrc 3970kv moter in it and I only run 50c or 80c 2s lipo batteries from zee on Amazon and they are nice and cheap. my rustler is a beast it could take a jump from atleast 50 or 60 feet I think I do back flips with it when I run with me friends

Well today I some how finally learned you can over power a Traxxas receiver and fry it i thought you had to short circuit it and I have gone thrue a lot of those and I didn't know why
I really hope that bulkhead isn't weakened after that
