Well done and thank you for all the updates during this window fellas, much appreciated. We've had a great window so far, but I'm gutted that I won't be able to see any of the new guys until at least Jan. Your updates and videos took my mind off things in hospital and still do while I'm now sitting, not being able to do anything at home and when I'm having some dark moments, have given me a laugh and enabled me to keep up to date with all my West Ham stuff. The original post on twitter says "Frenchman Zouma successfully passes his medical examination and officially becomes a Shabab Al Ahli player," then 2 days later he is returning to the UK because the medical highlighted his previous injuries. and I thought we were bad at medicals
I would suggest as you, Zouma has predictably failed his medical, they have realised the extent of his condition and have tried to renegotiate a different deal for him. He has to discuss this with his family and advisors back in London, and once he takes everything into account, he will hopefully sign with an additional intervention of WH towards his remuneration. As regards to AWB, the dealings with MU have been farcical once again, you would have thought that the inclusion of Dan Ashworth at MU would have facilitated a more professional and smoother approach, but it appears not, if he is due this money because of the contract he has with the club, Ratcliffe should bite the bullet and pay what is due, regardless if it looks bad in the media with all the alleged redundancies he’s instigated. MU are financially in such a mess, a radical shake up is required, and whilst that is happening, maybe we should have given any association a wide berth.
The club must have been prepared that Zouma not passing a medical was a possibility. As a result I think they will have a solution, in Tim we trust...!
No I don't think even Tim has an answer to this - poor Zouma is occupying a 25 spot in teh squad we can not now afford. A financial settlement and retirement is the only way
@@thomridgeway1438 Agree. If he cannot pass a medical, cannot move on a free transfer, then it really leaves few options. Paying him off will likely be cheaper than paying his full wages for the remaining year of his contract, assuming he'd accept the payoff.
We signed Zouma with previous injury showing as far as my memory serves I think we have talked about this when we took him on. It doesn’t surprise me that this has happened. If he’s coming back to London without signing that’s bad news.
they just re-negotiated after showing signs of a previous injury, no surprise the good news is that a contract is still available for him, we are on the hook for 6m - anything we can do to reduce that is a win, maybe UAE will take half of that, still a good move lets be honest, zouma is finished in the premiership, freeing up 60k wage budget can facilitate a couple of young players with potential
I don't think you can insure a player if there are issues with the medical? The club may not be that bothered about the issues but I would imagine there is some additional underwriting to be done etc. I suppose without conducting a medical and finding out the issues, you cant really create the contract. So maybe just a bit of extra paper work?
Ok, a different take on Zouma. He’s on huge wages and if we can pay him off then great. But let’s not forget his positive attitude on the team and club and part of me doesn’t think it’s the worst thing to have him around the training ground with so many new faces around. Maybe some of that influence could also be focused on our youth. If we run out of options with him maybe not the worst guy to have run down his contract in some coaching/mentor role. Yes I’d rather get him off the books but only from a financial perspective as he seems a positive, likeable guy.
That's an über expensive mascot. He was also captain last year and didn't help team spirit. Let's be professional, he's made millions and given us some good moments. A goodbye handshake
@@jasonmendelli6023 Yeah hopefully that happens and he accepts that. But if we don’t come to an agreement I’d try to at least benefit from him staying.
We took a risk. When we bought him he'd been free of serious knee problems for nearly five years, following his cruciate injury in 2016. He had a knock on his knee after that that had kept him out for just 7 days in 2018. But then he had two months out with his knee over Xmas 2022 after he signed for us. Then after that it was a recurring hamstring issue which was more of a problem, which he's had two longer spells out with while with us. In that sense, his knees have been holding up reasonable okay, it's just he has become less and less mobile. He's lost his speed. Maybe he doesn't want to risk his hamstrings with the sprints and is relying on positioning and reading the game, who knows... but he looks like a dancing giraffe these days when he runs.
From reading what they said he passed the medical but a previous injury showed. Well of course it would with the state of his knees. There would probably be scarring. Sounds like they are trying to reduce his wages or something related to pay. Personally I wish him well.
Well, that has to be the least surprising thing so far in the transfer window. Zouma failing a medical was a given, I just thought we would've some sort of under-the-table deal with the club to pass it on paper in exchange for a free transfer.
There’s no such thing as “failing” a medical. Players show injuries all the time and things are agreed around it, like us with Benrahma, like you say it just depends on the deal Zouma has with them.
I said on X w days ago that Zouma could well fail his medical (shock) and where would that leave us with further signings. Who'd sign him when he has no cartlidges in both knees and runs like he has a shitty nappy on?
This is a great opportunity for Kurt to get two new knees and he’ll be able to resume his career. I’ve seen the supervet replace complete limbs on greyhounds and they are brand new afterwards. Definitely worth thinking about!! 😉
Surely now he’s failed a medical from another club, our insurance should pay him out.? Happens to all footballers who have to retire due to injury or fitness to fulfil his contract
