They did competitive play since the earliest days? On Atari 2600 Space Invaders? Dang... Funny this was the PAL copy. Those guys must be in their 50s to 80s by now. I actually did try using the stretched tank mode one time and it was WAY harder than it looks. I don't know how they done it...
This is actually pretty cool to see a gaming comp back then. Didn't think the gaming comps took off till the late 2000's.

There was an old TV show called Starcade that aired from 1982 through 1984 where people competed on arcade machines. You can watch it here on UA-cam.
