THE 1971 HITS ARCHIVE - Here in one place, a comprehensive collection of ‘pop’ best-sellers and songs which made an impact that were either released or enjoyed a major chunk of their popularity within the calendar year 1971 (some were recorded in 1970)
I played with Dick around 1975-1976. Good dude.. we had a lot of fun in the studio with Butch Rilleia of RedBone fame.
I love songs from ASCAP publisher members ,such as the Leeds Music Corporation and the Shamley Music Corporation.
Ahh something fun from a long ago yesterday!!no fun music much anymore.😍😍😍😍
Dick Monda worked at the house of Filmation, where the Groovie Ghoulies series and many other cartoons were produced.
Thanks ! Great nostalgia trip ! I was around 9, first heard it on Sabrina and the Groovy Ghoulies one Saturday. I immediately remembered that Sunflower label.
LOL. Haven't heard this in ages. Thanks. Another great memory from listening to the radio during my high school years.
OMG I haven't heard this song since I was like...eiight years old. LOL
9th Grade Great one hit wonder heard on AM Radio big on 77WABC NY
We had fun with this one. Great tune for growing up with.
This song's popularity was thanks to the cartoon show "Sabrina And The Groovy Ghoulies".
Dick Monda initially recorded this song with some other session singers in plans to issue a second Groovie Goolies album after RCA Victor issued their first (and only) LP. MGM/Sunflower did schedule a possible release for it , but somehow it was never released (due to MGM having money problems at the time, leaving behind a number of unreleased or shelved albums, according to Mike Callahan's Both Sides Now blog.) When plans for a second Groovie Goolies album were suddenly dropped, Dick took a chance and went under the alias of Daddy Dewdrop to issue this single as a solo record, because he felt the song had potential. It turns out, he was right, as this became Daddy Dewdrop/Dick Monda's only hit. CKLW in Windsor gave it massive airplay, and the song appears on the second volume of CKLW's compilation album for Post Records of Philedelphia. Although not credited on the album, the late Rosalie Trombley was the musical consultant for CKLW, and personally picked the songs for the two volumes over four records, thus Rosalie dug "Chick-A-Boom."
This reminds me more of Dr Teeth & the Electric Mayhem than Groovy Ghoulies.
Listened it at the lake when I was 10, loved it!!!!!
I remember this song well. Many kids at my elementary school liked to sing it 😂 👙
👍👍👍
Sunflower Records was manufactured and distributed by MGM records.

I thought of this record and the way things are nowadays - I don't know if it would go parallel to 2022 if it were redone as is.
Until some of uh, hard-to-get, really desired tracks get posted, this will help, as I put that Demented Delights 70s playlist public again, as I was able to add the other tracks that lead off the collection.
Many thanks for posting one, until then. :)
This was the music used for the Groovie Ghoulies in 1970.
Lyrics:
Last night I had a crazy dream
About a chick in a black bikini
Oh, she looked so good she couldn’t be real
So she must be a magic genie
But then she disappeared around a corner
All I saw were three doors and the top of her bikini
I made it through the first door there was a party going on
I asked about the chick but what they said was this
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t you jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom-boom-boom
I found the bottom half
Behind the second door
Which took me to Africa I presume
This really far out cat was screaming half crazy
“Bomp boom a loo, bom a long bam boo”
I said, “Hey man, cut that jive”
And tell me where the chick went
But he looked at me as pleased as could be
And said these words but I wonder what he meant
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t you jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom-boom-boom
Ah,don’t ya jes’ love it
Ooh, don’t ya jes’ love it
Don’t ya love it, don’t ya love it
Oh yeah, don’t ya love it
Don’t ya jes’ love it
Now I opened the third door and there she was
And she whispered so sexy, oh ooh
I tried to do the same and impress her with my style
But why I said this I’ll never know
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t you jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom-boom-boom
Don’t ya know it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t you jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom-boom-boom
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t you jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it
Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom-boom-boom
Richard Monda?
😂
And memories lose their meanings. Always hated this stupid thing g
It is indeed a piece of garbage. But......it is kind of fun if no other redeeming quality.
@@dannystrat Not to CKLW it wasn't. They thought it was loads of fun, and Rosalie Trombley, their personal music consultant picked it for airplay. Stupid? perhaps. Fun? Very much.
