My review on Allmusic written January 9, 2016. 4 Stars Madball's second EP, released in 1992 as a 7" slab of vinyl, is a great follow-up to Ball Of Destruction. The two releases are of the same style, but it is on Droppin' Many Suckers where Madball begins to hone the power and groove that would define their later releases. This EP also features Agnostic Front icons Roger Miret (bass and backing vocals) and Vinnie Stigma. Madball is a great NY Hardcore band at this point in 1992 and there is no denying it. By the way, Miret sounds great when he's singing and plays a nice bass guitar. Freddy Cricien is coming into his own here delivering in his ferocious style. The groove and power Madball would later perfect is definitely starting on Droppin' Many Suckers. A classic.
Seen them at The Wetlands on this E P ! N.Y.C. Hardcore Early "90", s was the best! Then seen them again on Set It Off! At The Wetlands as well! Lots of H.C.Shows there!
@@WakeUpDead777 madball still to this day is mine but cro mags man that was a awesome band . like harleys new stuff with em but nothing to compare to old days like age of quarrel - life on my own thats a great song
Another superb nyhc classic i missed back in the day! But better later than never… Thanks for posting!!! "Friend or Foe" is a nice cover and hommage to Freddie's brother, Roger Miret, frontman of Agnostic Front (a band i was idolizing then…)
Josh Doll At least we’ve found the guy who doesn’t know shit about music. They don’t sound anything like they did. Everything they’ve done since Hold It Down also sucks.
@@t.g.3500 hehe you talk bout people dont know shit bout music `` in this case nyhc `` - the sound is one thing but they never change the message and thats what hardcore music is all about .
Contrary to many otrers' opinion I don't really like Freddy's voice at that time. IMHO his voice starts to develop with his own identity in Look My way.
I think his voice became more "his own" over the years.... I DO like this early stuff though- A LOT, but he's a better writer/vocalist now in my opinion.
Dario A. Madball today is become a boring, mainstream, commercial crossover band, or better soft-thrash (...just like Ag.Front and a great part of the historical, glorious NY/HC scene, and obviously not only that of NY) for young boys who have no idea of what this scene was in the 80's and in the 90's!! Above all in the 80's, when that all was still a real underground HC-Punk Movement, without rich Records Company and money affairs on the back, but little indie-labels or even auto-production!! This is not a personal accusation against you, but damn.... today we have internet (...how better and cool was the old tape trade!!) and the opportunity to search and find pretty all; why don't you try to see and comprehend how were then the Hardcore music, the HC-bands and, very important, the whole atmosphere?? But no!! You are closed as eggs and if somebody dares to criticize somewhat of yours tastes, he is obviously a clown.... Geetings.
Dario A. But... I have written a larger comment about hardcore, and not about madball only.... but it's ok, you don't care and I have no more time to waste with mindclosed boys.
