I encountered the group of tourist mannequins on the first map, near the gas station, and I thought nothing of them. "Hmm, that's kind of creepy." I thought, after reading the journal entry. I ran past them to the busted cars like 15 meters away and got to scrapping. When I was done I turned around and one of them was like 2 meters away from me. I was so not expecting it. I got a legit chill down my spine and a cold sensation in my chest and sprinted back to my car lmao. I had to do some more testing so I stood a good 7-8 meters away and turned in circles, watching one of them "sneak" closer and closer. THIS GAME IS SO GOOD.
Yes, that happened to me on the first map as well. I left the car so I could go and scout ahead to see what was going on and figured if it was an anomaly I could just run out of the way so I don’t toast my car and I seen the mannequins and I thought they were creepy anyways so I stayed away from them and when I turned around it had moved just like you said, and so I recorded what happened and posted it and in the video when I turned back around if the mannequin had actually moved or it was in my head i look back and I swear I seen a flash and his hand was up like he was taking a picture of the roadside
It is apparently super rare, but they can toss items at you. Basically they won't be there, you turn and an item gets tossed into your view and you turn back to where it came from and one is there.
This is very true. While far from being the most dangerous weirdies out there, those mannequins reliably keep me away from potential loot because I really, really don't want to go near them. They cost me more in term of ressources than anything else bumping at the car, and that's all because of my brain. They keep me so reliably tense that I can hardly go for a second run after finishing one that contained this anomaly. I hate sectors that harbor those tourists. This is very well done and I'm a wimp, this game will take a long time to complete.
Damn I went into this game blind and for a while I thought I was losing it because I backed into a tourist that I didn't think was there. And then next time a tourist moved between me and my gas pump and I flipped out lol
just wait till you get the "somehting is moving" effect. normally only some of them move, and only if your nearby and not looking, but if you have that effect they ALL move ALL the time your not looking at them anywhere on the map
Yeah, I noticed they move when I had a flare lit, they all started going towards me really fast when I wasn't looking. I threw the flare and looked away and when I turned back, they all were bunched up on top of the flare. Definitely one of the scarier moments I had while playing.
I was chopping up an armored car just last night and saw one next to my car and though oh I didn't even notice that guy continued to chop up the rest of the car and looked up to to a whole herd of them around my car looking at me some pointing and others with their arms like they were praising something I hauled ass our of there
mannequins remind me of the weeping angels from doctor who. now im curious if the dev did that on purpose as an easter egg or whether they came up with the idea themself and it was just a coincidence.
I'm wondering if they're a hybrid of 2007's Weeping Angels and the moving mannequins from 1979's "Tourist Trap," given their name. Creepy-awesome either way. ;) Cheers.
Many examples of that kind of monster - Dr Who is the single most _not scary_ example there is... They can literally get stuck staring at each other because of how breathtakingly dumb they are.
when you pick up an anchor sometimes an anomaly can spawn right on top of you so that may have been the case with the anchor thing because i got crushed by the rock pillars my first time
Haha, too funny -- I've had "Tourist Trap" ( _epic_ 1979 horror ... telekinetic mad-man uses mannequins for mayhem! ) come up multiple times this past week via various algorithms. And seconding (thirding?) the sentiment these evoke 2007 Doctor Who 'Weeping Angels' ... a sweet-spooky iteration of the timeless "Only moves when ya ain't lookin!" horror set piece. Cheers, Mr. Alright! ❤🔥
you can bait them away from you by throwing a flare. they are the only anomalies that are lowkey creeping me out. but easily avoidable once you know they can only see you during light or if you have a flare on you.
hehe on certain maps if you look back u can see a horde of them following you down the road depending how often u get out. One of the missions I just stood in a field with tourists, then a text line appeared above my screen saying the Drivers observation that they do move when yur not looking, I have no idea what they do if they touch u from behind. good thing u can kite them in a group, then hit the front one with the impact hammer taking the hit from it but it will cause a chain explosion for the others. and they drop crystals.
I was near a group of them while a storm was closing in on me and didn’t have enough anchors juice to open a gate way and one was all the way across the map where the storm was already present and out of no where a unstable anchor plug was thrown into my field of view. I thought I was a glitch in the game but I later realized one of those tourist threw me an anchor plug. Saved by a tourist😅
@@Zaknafein So they are just friendly little fellows who wants to be near you. Cool never gonna be afraid of them. Seems like good dudes. Must be Danish.
Oh goddess Zak 😮... And I really considered buying this game... Just seeing this in retrospective makes my skin crawl 😵 now I HAVE to buy it... Better as phasmophobia😬 hehe...😅
Definitely freaky! I sure would like to know what it's about! Could you play a game before you lose this demo and actually let one catch up to you? I want to know what would happen! LOL
Nice! So they al come at you basically? Funny, I didn't noticed the group coming close. Only the single one. Are you gonna do a let's play when the game comes out?
They aren't actually mannequins iirc. I remember reading a text log about them that said that they are actual tourists who came to the OEZ before it was cordoned off. Also, they don't always move. There is a junction mutation called "They're moving" or something like that. Only junctions with this mutator will have moving tourists.
They explode when ran Into and it can cause a chain reaction. Not sure if they are actively trying to touch you to detonate or if they just position as close as possible
Why would you call it copy-pasted? It works in the setting, it's not shoe-horned in, and it's done well. Do you think once an idea is used somewhere it mustn't be done anywhere else?
@@Blend3rman No, but everybody seems to be acting as if it's some new groundbreaking idea, when the exact same thing was already done better in other games.

This has happened to me a few times and, yes it’s helpful, but also horrifying every time.
This has happened to me before but it was actually a helpful item, and at the time I didn’t know it was a tourist
Happened to me a couple hours ago. Man this game just keeps it up with the surprises fr.
happened to me just recently when a crude panel just fell on me when I was walking through the forest
I was wondering where those crude panels and doors popped out from in my last expedition
This survival game with no hunger or stuff like this. Because we'll have to survive not phisically, but psyhologically...

I actually prefer these over weeping angels based on the fact that they don’t have the most terrifying faces ever. lol
I need someone to hold me after learning that those mannequins move
Next shopping trip will be... interesting 🤪😸
😂😂 who knows what seemingly static statue or figure moves when you are not looking at them!
@@elentia8903 exactly! Like my teenagers... You don't see them move away from Xbox or PC but then half of the fridge is empty...😱 Spooky! 🤣

You are definitely in the right place 👏
Yeah, I just came across the first and noticed them moving steadily closer to me right away and I NOPED right out there. Yikes

Reminds me of mannequins from doctor who. Scary stuff.
And if you're going to throw a signal fire they will move to it when you not looking at them
This game needs more stuff like this. That being said, i'm not complaining about the anomaly variety, but i wish they would be more creepy.
I love the Tourists! They spook me but i do like when they drop off supplies
Soooo cool... I look forward to playing this next month
Well this seems like a sure buy. Plus it'll be fine if I only play in the daytime, right? Right?

Nice Catch ! Probably an easter egg as a reference to the angel statues in doctor who, a few games have this easter egg (the witcher 3 comes to mind).
It's more of a reference to 1979's Tourist Trap, which is why they share similar name.
I realised they moved when they litterally where throwing scrap metal at me... tires too... 😳
They also throw stuff at you I had one throw a tool I need and a red anchor orb

Been waiting for a game to use this type of mechanic sense doctor who’s angels 😅
Omg so creepy but looks like an interesting game!
They are by far the creepiest shit in this game. I fucking hate them. I always carry flares as when you throw them at them they explode!

not quite, they always move, just not every time you look away, and not by much.
But with that modifier, they move a lot more, they'll chase you. 😨
@@hyperforce yeah, I noticed this last time I played actually, I just couldn't find the video to correct the comment XD

I only saw that they damage the car if you run them over (don't) but otherwise seem harmless

Dr. Who Easter Egg or an actual Enemy ?
