@@0915junior No, it's actually basically about a love story of a young scholar who left his town and his loved girl to ensure a better future for himself and his girl, and the girl who stayed behind and waited for him. It's a song of very ancient ancestry, so as time passed, a lot of things got added or left out, such as grief of experiencing wars or a story of a family struggling to make a living in the harsh world, the warmth of neighbors, or even the general feeling of people's grief and sadness of foreign conquerors annexing the country. Also, there are differences in styles of it in different regions of the country. So, considering that S.Korea and N.Korea both have the same cultural roots, we think there are more than 30 variants of the Arirang.

The harsh drums and tune in between the mostly cheerily melody honestly makes this sound like it’s a theme for all of Korea in the modern day. It includes South Korea with some brief glimpses from its more aggressive and reclusive Northern half.
I'm so proud to be Korean when I hear this great rendition of Arirang :) To be honest, I was scared that this would give off a K-Pop vibe, but it didn't, and it actually showed how resilient the Korean people were when they were harassed on all sides, and how we will continue to become greater!
@@VietnamRetroGameBroadcast Than*, how can you like a dictatorship that oppress its people and makes them believe they are the best nation while the rest of the world is worse?
I always imagine the North Korean leaders rising when the theme reaches 2:15. The song turns dramatic like a villian theme but then returns to South Korea.
A lone spearman opens his eyes as the light of the sun shines into his eyes. He is startled by a strange, rumbling noise he has never heard before. Is it the enemy horde? A stampede perhaps? He is soon to notice, the rumbling is not coming from the ground, but far from the sky. And the spearman simply looks into the sky, as bombers fly overhead.
But alas! The bombers bear the taeguk of his suzerain, who has just declared a protectorate war against Sumeria, and are attacking the enemy's war-carts instead of him!
For an unknown reason, I can actually feel most emotions in this theme. As if I can feel that there are two Korean themes played at once, with interchanging singers throughout the song. Was is to signify divided Korea singing in unison, each playing their parts? Depending on the tone, some of which was played by the ROK, while the other played by the DPRK.
Could be! After all, Arirang is one of the few things both North and South Korea have in common. The song is sung by people on both sides of the peninsula, and I hope they use it as an anthem for a United Korea if it happens.

The sound of turn 20
Arirang is basically a Korean folk song that has been handed down for a long time, but the melody was different from region to region. The melody is a representative Arirang, and its origin is a 1926 movie theme, and it is known to have been written and composed based on songs heard by the Japanese Empire during the forced migration of Koreans to Manchuria.

Because its hidden enough in between my allies.
지금 외국인들이 불타는 이유는 '원자력'시대라서 쬐그만 로켓맨을 떠올렸기 때문이다

Still sad they didn't use Sejong the Great for Civ 6
feminism. 300+ Male Korean Monarch. 1 Female Korean monarch. Let's use the insignificant female monarch and ignore the rest.
@@Wandrative Oh, we HAD one more female leader.... and she was...
@@AJPark-xw7zr
We get it. I'm not a single bit against using female leaders in Civ, but Sejong deserved the spot for Korea. Dude, he promoted mass literacy and an all-new alphabet for the commoners which is now known as Hangul. If that doesn't hit the spot for him being the best pick, I don't know what will.
@@tzCombot If he saw his language being used today, he would be so proud
It was probably because they didn't want to reuse him for civ 6 because he was already in civ 5
