My boyfriend has been in hospital for over 2 weeks. He went in with swollen ankles and had shortness of breath for several weeks. He goes from critical to stable with clots on his lungs, issues with low blood pressure and kidney disease and liver disease too. His lung collapsed yesterday and they warned us that he's very unwell and on 100% oxygen via a ventilator. This has reduced from 100 to 75 to 55 to 45 and up until 22:00 it was 35%. The specialists have managed to reinflate his left lung and your video explained what he is going through - he also has pneumonia. Please pray for him and all that need a prayer. Thanks so much for your time.
This gives me the memories of my collapsed lung from November 2018 and I'm a teenager turning 17 this February. I remember just another day at school when my heart started racing but I pulled through the school day. It wasn't til the evening was when it started taking affect and I went to get a x-ray and I hoped for a result that said I was ok. It wasn't and next day I'm in a hospital. I still remember getting sedated for the surgery and when I woke up, I was in tears knowing I was alive as the thought of death came to my head. It wasn't easy having to roam the house with that tube inside me so I was careful as much as possible. All this happened on a Wednesday in Mid November and it wasn't easy living with it besides roaming carefully. I had to take shallow baths, I had to use a wrapping paper that is used to help put pressure on wounds just to hold the "bottle". I forgot its real name but I guess bottle fits since you used a bottle. The next Wednesday was great as the tube was removed. I wish everyone who has a collapsed lung to have a great and safe recovery.
Had a spontaneous pneumothorax back in January of this year. Being someone with a high pain tolerance as well as being too ridiculously stubborn to ask for help, I was reluctant to seek medical aid for nearly a week after I started feeling pain in my side and having trouble breathing. I convinced myself that I had just pulled a muscle in my back or that I had bad cramps from going skating with my friends a few days prior to feeling any discomfort, and continued about my life as normal. As time passed, breathing became more difficult, and I couldn’t carry out conversations without gasping for air after a couple seconds of talking. My friends, and a gut feeling I suddenly experienced convinced me to finally check into the E.R. And I thank God that I did; I was diagnosed and treated and got time off of work for the next couple of weeks while I recovered from surgery. The very next week when I was on my leave of absence, my workplace had a major Covid outbreak, and my doctor told me that it was very likely that I could’ve died had I not checked into the E.R. And gotten my diagnosis. I thank God and my amazing friends for pretty much saving my life. 🙌❤️
@@R9TR0 I actually had two reoccurrences and had to get surgery to prevent it from happening again. Since the surgery though, I haven’t had any other problems with my lungs
In february I entered hospital with collapsed lung ,I was septic and had two chest tubes inserted instead of having surgery.every breath was agony.but after three weeks I had tubes removed and went home after few more days! What a terrifying experience, but grateful for the technology we have now!
Great video! As a stabbing victim in intensive care for several weeks, I needed a refresher on whether my collapsed lung was ever repaired. I do know my left lung is weaker than right. You answered my question on whether lung was repaired. The chest tube not only help collect the fluid from internal bleeding which nearly took my life but also to repair the lung. Question, is one who has experienced this considered one with underlying health conditions? My experience was 20 years ago.
Oh, your simple explanation using the bottles and straws, plus your illustration, really gave an excellent answer to my questioning collapsed lungs. Thank you so much.
I just got out of hospital due to a left sided spontaneous pneumothorax. I had a VATS done and was in hospital for a total of 2 weeks and had 2 tubes in me afterwards and one before the surgery. it really isn't a fun experience, extremely painful. Hi, Thank you for the example! I have a few question. So my boyfriend was recently admitted to the hospital for a collapsed lung, & the hospital told us it would only take 1-2 days for his recovery & he doesn’t seem to be getting better! He seems to be getting worse! He’s been in the hospital for almost a week & nothing has changed. Did you ever find out why the recovery was slow? Having Surgery or being in the Hospital during COVID19 is no joke. I had Surgery almost a year ago for lung Cancer. Finally by the 3rd day and not understanding my Surgeon came to see me alone and I asked him why I am still in the Hospital. He explained it and once I could fully understand I called my family and explained what was going on Apparently in about 5% of patients there is an issue with the lung not sealing. The Chest tube was removing air from my chest. Going forward I have a huge amount of respect for people having to be awake with a Chest Tube, so not funny, worst pain in my life. @@charniecearielle @charniecearielle thankfully? My lung re inflated on its own after some rest and some supplemental oxygen. The collapse for me was the upper portion of the right lung. @@lauraconnolly663 Yes mine was spontaneous as well! X-rays and scans have been done and I have no damage. I had to make the call to let my pops go due to a collapsed lung, he was already in bad shape and 85 yrs old...the chest tube didn't work so they was gone have to cut him open and try but with his age I just couldn't put him threw that, I still blame the hospital for having him on oxygen for almost 3 weeks I think it weakened his lung, either way he not suffering any more
My dad is in ventilator now and have damage his lungs, will it be cured?

I can’t wait to place a chest tube in myself :)
How does pneumonia lead to a collapsed lung?
Chest tubes are painful
my right lung had collapse left was starting to by the time I got to er. Once the tube was put into my side for drainage the pain was off the charts. I've given birth 4 times I'd say the pain was worse than childbirth. That was my experience as a 117 lb 5 ft 2 female. But praise god my life was spared !
Judith Poch what does it feel like I think that’s what’s happening with me
Jasmine Landers r u in the hospital ?
Judith Poch no I’m at home
They are! Sewn into chest after doctors drill a hole through your ribs. In intensive care, you have to carry that thing and IV with you to the bathroom. The most helpless feeling.
