I think the reason he was rusty in the beginning of the season was because he said he didn’t play competitive basketball after the Olympics and he barely got PT during pre-season. The Spurs probably wanted him to rest after the Olympics because he had been playing basketball nonstop for two years now; playing in international competition, his French team going to the finals in their league, then straight to his NBA rookie season, and then the Olympics. He acknowledged in an interview when he was asked about his rustiness at the start of the season, that it might take a few games for him to finally get back into rhythm. What I admire about him is the work ethic and the mentality. There were a lot of criticisms at first but he just continued to work hard silently. It’s great that he’s playing well now. Hopefully, he continues to play well throughout the rest of the season and hopefully his team gets to the play-in/off for some post-season experience.
Next season he’ll be averaging 31/12/4/4 on 50% shooting.
Love watching the Spurs with Victor and Castle and CP3!
Good job. Keep going.
...wemby is averaging 25.6ppg I think by the end of the season he'll be averaging close to 28...
