@@Smartphone775Nope bro, It's literally just an Arika crossover, and if that's your definition of "nostalgia driven" then KOF and SSB are also "nostalgia driven"
Because most people had either dial up internet, or no internet at all. The only way to play a competitive video game was either on a console or in an arcade = arcade being the number 1 choice because you could VS strangers without having to invite them into your home, have bragging rights over the win and stroke your ego with people crowded around the machine watching you dominate your opponent. And this my friend is why fighting games were huge in this period.
This game SHOULD have been released on the Sony PlayStation back in 1999! Talk about a missed opportunity to bring this gem home. Namco would be the publisher of it also. Can someone do a mockup cover of it if it was on PS1?
This game SHOULD have been ported to the original PlayStation! Soul Edge/Blade, the precursor to Soul Calibur was ported to the PlayStation. I wish Fighting Layer came to PS1. Since it’s too late for that, let’s have it come home to PS4 or 5.
The characters looks awesome on the drawings, not so much on the 3D models, it saddens me when that happened back in the 32-bit era. But I guess it was necessary step to keep advancing.
Three years later, it came to my mind again. Now I wonder how the hell a guy in early 2000s, in a small city in Poland got his hands on that Japan exclusive arcade machine.
these characters plus the street fighter ex characters excluding the characters from street fighter, I counted 32 characters for ex4/fighting layer. Akira make this game
Fighting Layer is arikas original fighting game developed and published by arike, namco just publish for using they arcade engine "Namco System 12" which is the same engin they use for soul calibour, tekken 1,2,3 and tag tournament
Namco did the publushing because it takes 3d fighting elements alot like namco's tekken series also Capcom worked with arika on Streetfighter EX series with the Same characters from fighting layer
This game REALLY needs an Arcade Archives release on PS4 and Switch. Why? There’s barely any polygon games on it and it hasn’t seen a home release (Arika missed their chance porting it to the PS1 or Dreamcast) in years, that’s why.
I have so many questions: What time period is this where you can fight a knight in full armor? What continent is he on where there's a tiger? Why am I even asking it's just a video game. Ohh well
Shang, Hong, Janis, Sessyu, and George for Fighting EX Layer! Who else do y’all think should be bought into the game in the future?
EVERYONE IS HERE
But seriously, it shouldn’t be called “Fighting EX Layer” if it doesn’t have the roster from both EX and Fighting Layer
I'm cool with it, but Fighting EX Layer seems so nostalgia driven.
Fighting EX Layer
@@Smartphone775Nope bro, It's literally just an Arika crossover, and if that's your definition of "nostalgia driven" then KOF and SSB are also "nostalgia driven"
The sound effect in the character select is taken from the inventory screen in the original Resident Evil 1. I'd recognize that sound anywhere 😁.
hahha youre right
very very underrated game
I wish this game had a PS1 port like the SFEX ones, or maybe a DreamCast port like the 2nd Rival Schools.
Probably would’ve made a better fit on the Dreamcast than the PS1

Why we had so many fighting game in that period
those were the golden times

anyway fighting layer is capcom's so capcom itself also contributed to the abundance of fighting games
@Kev Walthall because they weren't popular in japanese arcades
This game SHOULD have been released on the Sony PlayStation back in 1999! Talk about a missed opportunity to bring this gem home. Namco would be the publisher of it also. Can someone do a mockup cover of it if it was on PS1?
This would probably be under Capcom's license since Arika did this and the EX series.
my favorite move is "just hit" very effective unless your opponent just blocks.
So basically Blair and Allen are the original ones in this game appeared in street fighter ex saga and fighting ex layers ,Nice
At least the music is catchy.
Are you right? Are you ready?
That George dude looks like Richard Ashcroft, lol
Never knew tigers roars sounded just like Ogres from Quake 1. Also Blair and Allen appears in Capcom-Arika spin off of Street Fighter named EX + alpha
Goddamn! George is free. And that poor tiger, I really felt bad for him.
The graphic reminds me of early Tekken games
which graphic?

Too bad this game never got released outside of Japan nor did it made it to home consoles, but hey! At least we got Fighting EX Layer.
They should add them befor with ex character together on roster instead adding more ex character over layer
This game SHOULD have been ported to the original PlayStation! Soul Edge/Blade, the precursor to Soul Calibur was ported to the PlayStation. I wish Fighting Layer came to PS1. Since it’s too late for that, let’s have it come home to PS4 or 5.
Shame this never got a port or Re-Release ever. well it's never too late.
But we're getting a sequel: Fighting EX Layer.
@@BBHood217 still a disappointment, the roster is full of ex character over the original layer character.

@Needles Iblis Have to agree with that. Fighting Layer and SFEX2 have some of the coolest and cleanest 3d models ever. They aged pretty well imho.
See a lot of ryu and ken animations in him
The ending theme could be "I Ran" from Flock of Seagulls
No conocia este juego. Interesante, te has ganado mi like
Tetsuo...Rival Schools? Also, did they just murdered a tiger?!?! LOL!!
Hilarious!! LOL!!
Hong = Hworang
Tetsuo = Kazuya
Sheeet i was looking for it for so long. I only remembered the ninja guy and fighting a fucking shark underwater xD
Three years later, it came to my mind again. Now I wonder how the hell a guy in early 2000s, in a small city in Poland got his hands on that Japan exclusive arcade machine.

It already exists, it’s called “Fighting EX Layer”, and it’s available now for PS4 and Steam, with a mobile port for iOS and Android!
TETSUOOOOO KATO!!!!
Namco?! I thought Capcom helped Arika to make EX Layers!

gran juego de peleas una joya excelente muy bueno.

didn't it came came to north america?.
some character design looks like character from street fighter imo
maybe i'm wrong anyway

Um... You never responded. Could I get some conformation?
Must be on VERY easy mode
I thought that it was made by capcom, but from namco who had successful story with tekken & soul calibur
ronald bastian The game was made by Arika, the former Capcom employees and published by Namco.
nice game! street fighter ex is one of the best too

stay far away from this game the boss and the shark is next to impossible.

seeing hong, makes me think that this is capcom's attempt to ride on Tekken's success
Como puedo descargar ese juego xfa pasenme una descarga del juego
To me, this was a bad idea in put animals to battle against humans. Just my opinion.
your pc specs?
Yeah, Arika with Capcom produced a better product. This looks alot more basic than SFEX plus a.
if you actually play this it is much better than EX+. It has a lot of unique systems involved that don't get shown off in this video.
Yea as much as i love EX Plus Alpha ans EX 2 Plus, this game is technically better, it has a lot more going for it gameplay wise.
Also, SFEX never had you fight a shark.
Orojugen You're talking bullshit you dumbass.
Luiz Fernando De Souza Well someone’s being triggered.
It's a superior follow up to Street Fighter EX 3, but not having the SF cast made it uninteresting and so it fell into obscurity
One of the most unexceptional fighting games with the dumbest title.
