It is really tough once kids get added into the holiday mix. This year has been brutal in so many ways. You guys are amazing people. Sounds like you have made some impressive observations. Hang in there. Love and hugs for you all from the States!
Fab to see you again 🤗 one day at a time, prioritize, making time for yourself helps me be a better me. It is not easy with everything going on. All the best to you and your family
Hi, Aaron, how lovely to see you again! Firstly, thank you for sharing what you have been going through these past few months. That's a huge step in itself. I do understand how work can kinda take over your life and trying to find a work/life balance can be so hard at times. One thing that may help is what our workplace calls the 'third space'. It's setting a bit of time for yourself transitioning from work to home. It may be just some quiet time with a cuppa, some exercise, etc. Sometimes just listening to your favourite music on the drive home. (Hard if you work from home!). Something else that may help is meditation and mindfulness. It can help to calm the thoughts and change patterns of thinking. I can only share what has helped me - everyone is different so try and find something that works for you! I wish you, Adele, Archer and Violet and your extended families a truly Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 2021 will be better! it has to be, right? xo (and I did listen right to the end) haha
Thank you so much Ngaire! I have started trying a resume meditation & mindfulness after many years of neglect, honestly think that's one of the things that allowed me to realise that things were getting bad and needed a change! Thanks for all your awesome suggestions 😊
I think many of us relate. I'm someone who cares a lot about doing the best job I can and for my work being a real success and high quality. but that can come at a real mental health cost. Agreeing on realistic expectations and quality is a first step. Sounds like you're doing all the right things... acknowledging where you're not happy or satisfied and doing some introspection to find a new way forward. All the best for a happy and not too crazy holiday season for you.
It is so nice to see you, Aaron! I can hear tears of tiredness in your voice and it pains me. Please take care of yourself and get all the rest you need!
Hi Aaron, lovely to see you and I'm glad to hear you've taken a break from work. Being able to open up about struggling (not enjoying) life and work is a huge step and I'm glad you've been able to recognise and talk about it - hopefully this is the beginning of finding the balance and being able to switch off from work to make time for your own hobbies and enjoy family time. I work from home so totally understand that work tends to take over, although I don't have kids so can't imagine how stressful it is when you add little ones into the mix. I definitely think trying to get into the mindset of not caring so much about other peoples actions will help you, though I also know that's easier said than done. I hope you can find the balance and start the new year in a better headspace. Sending you, Adele, Archie and Violet lots of positive vibes and hoping that the ongoing sickness/cold bugs and hope you all have a fantastic family Christmas, the best you can in the current worldwide circumstances. Lots of love from Laura, Dan and Kai xxxxx
@@InkieBeard I'm sure you'll get there, just remember that you need down time for yourself or you will end up so rundown you'll be unable to do anything xxx
🙌 I’m with ya mate. Was there not long ago. It’s a struggle and it will come and go. Good to take a step back as you said and not care, try to separate a little 👍🏻 let me know when up for a ☕️ or 🍺

You're right the balance is crucial it seems so simple whilst I'm on holidays but the true test will be when I go back. Thanks heaps Laura!
