  • The Várkert Bazaar (also known as Várbazár) is located in the 1st district of Budapest, on Ybl Miklós square. Ancient monument, a part of the world heritage.
    Várkert Bazaar was built between 1875 and 1883 in a neo-Renaissance style.
    Originally it had a commercial function, its arcades were once filled with shops. From 1883 to 1888 the Buda Women's Workshop was operating in the north wing, and from 1890 to 1895 the Historical Picture Hall was visible here. From the 1890/91 school year to the year 1918 there was a female painting school in the building.
