Fun fact. 9 Inuits identified Captain Crozier via photograph in 1858 ( a decade after they got locked in the ice) as having been at Baker Lake, which is hundreds of miles south in mainland Canada. They said him and 1 other white man passed through. There was even a cairn at Baker Lake with a small wooden english built box inside it. However, the English discounted these testimonies as there was no proof (the box was lost) but. Lets just take into account that the Victorian English discounted ALL Inuit testimony (despite them literally knowing where the went and approximately where the ships ended up) because the Inuit stated the men engaged in cannibalism. However everything else they said has since been proven to be truth. So its entirely plausible that Crozier and one other man survived amongst the Inuit for years, and if they broke up into numerous groups (which is evidenced by where the bodies were found) possibly more. The nail in the coffin would be that they DID (proven) engage in cannibalism, and thus the option of returning to England was off the table permanently.
i've come across this video several times now and read this comment an equal amount of times and everytime it makes me feel so sad and so sick that they all had families and loved ones they could never see again simply bc they fought with tooth and nail to stay alive.
This has to be one of my favourite edits ever. Wonderful!
