There is an achievement where if you lose a pup to unknown fate, there's a chance that you'll meet them in the fall as a dispersal. It's not guaranteed, but they MIGHT survive the unknown fate and live.
quick bear tip, when the bear uses the swing attack there's a short interval where you can run in and bite 2-3 times without taking any damage! you can even bait the bear into doing these swings by running around it in circles for a couple of seconds, so anytime you fight a bear it's a guarantee you won't take damage :D (if you do it right)
ugh i hate unknown fate. it just feels like a cheap way to limit pack sizes, really immersion breaking. it’s basically the game saying, “oh, you protected your pups from predators and starvation so well that nobody has died yet? can’t have that, guess somebody has to die and there’s nothing you can do about it.” i wish they either A) made it preventable in some way, like it being only possible at low affinity, if the pups are hungry, or if the pups are far from the den before sleeping. or B) made it replace the pups leaving the den/grass when you’re away from the den and affinity is low. instead of getting lost, a pup would leave the grass and if you’re far enough away, boom unknown fate. at least then, it would feel like there would be something you could have done to stop it. but nope, your perfectly healthy, happy, and well-fed puppies just have to go because you’re doing too well at the game. just feels super cheap… another problem is that some predator attacks often just aren’t hard enough, which leads to more pups surviving and then unknown fate needing to happen to limit pack sizes. i would much rather have sneakier coyotes, faster cougars, and bears digging out the den than the unknown fates. or maybe bears and cougars just instakilling pups like everything else. if those predator attacks were more threatening and required more skill and practice to defend against, there wouldn’t be a need for the silly unknown fates. or even just if sickness spread in larger litters! that would be so much more immersive than unknown fate. there are so many better ways to go about limiting pack sizes and it amazes me that aliens abducting your pups is what ended up in the game… sorry for the rant i just needed to get that out. hope they change it some time
Perfectly valid, I feel the same way about this. I worked really hard keeping a 7 litter of pups alive on Accurate (one died of disease however) before the "Unknown Fate" stuff was even in the game, then suddenly after an update, boom. Two of my pups, gone. All that hard work was for nothing. They should've made it so predators would come back more and more often the longer you stay in one place, it'd make the moving feature actually usable for rendezvous sites and give another reason for moving dens. There could also be a chance predators will show up at the den when only one or two wolves are present and the player is far from the den/site. If they wanted to take the easier route however, they really could've just upped the dispersing rate the more pups that survive each year. Of course this would make it harder for certain achievements to be gained, but who said they'd be easy?
I always saw "Unknown Fate" as a wolf's way of never finding a missing pup. As if the pup snuck away while everyone was asleep and met an unknown fate to the wolves because literally nobody knows what became of the pup.
@NorthernDoodles yeah, that’s how i like to think of it too. if the devs don’t change the feature itself it would be cool if there were different messages, like “your pup wandered off during the night and was taken by a predator” or “your pup wandered off during the night and died to exposure” etc
Great video as always Hnowu! It seems like your editing has gotten quite a lot better since I first started watching as well. I'll remember Perchance and Explodes in my heart
i love your videos!! you always seem to be so lucky with finding elk herds and i always find it so difficult. do you have any tips on how you find herds so easily?
It’s actually pretty difficult for me as well, i just cut out the time i spend looking for them. My only real tip is to run parallel to the wind direction, so if it was blowing north, you’d run east to west until you picked up some elk scent.
My mate eats the food I throw up for the pups and he's lazy he doesn't feed em (he does when I can't dw.) And he eats it all until I can't feed the pups we are constantly struggling to get food he's a hog-
Tips you may not know! 🤓👆 (mainly for pc) If you press G then you growl If you press SHIFT G you growl aggressively If you press Y you whine If you hold onto one of your emotes in the emote panel, you can add it to your hotbar, or favorite it, so that you can just press a number on your keyboard, and you can do that emote! Maybe ill update this idk
The amount of packs ive disbanded in the saga is...... i can't count that high man. Edit: UNKOWN FATE IS STUPID LIKE HUH WKJDKAWJDNWAKDJN WHAT DID THEY DIE TO ATLEAST GIVE ME A REASON OR WAY TO STOP IT
@@JaserJas theres only like 3 settings the pups die to all witch i have on just sickness (or its everything but sickness i forgot- )or none it would be nice if there was a seperate thing for that since its un-controlable, but yea i just think its a wierd thing to add to the game having no reasoning why they died.
I agree with JaserJas here, I am biased TOWARDS the unknown fate as it is incredibly easy to keep all of your pups alive. The devs had toyed with fast-acting lethal sickness which wasn’t received well. The unknown fate acts as another factor that is out of your hands to cull pack size, I will never be turning off sickness and RNG deaths
@@Hnowu fair i just hate that theres no reason for there death as sometimes i base there lore off of how they die ect but thats kinda just for story making ig.
it's so funny seeing people hate on buffalo plateau because one of my runts went on to become the leader of that pack (I wanted the instant family achievement🫶)
the sole time you manage to keep all the pups alive for long the game forces a death onto one of them 😭
edit: nvm, TWO
I had a pup sick once, they were named Opal, and I decided I couldn’t save them, and unfortunately moved on 💔
I’m just that good 😩😩😩

If a bear is to close to a pup js bite it of all pups are in target it and run around in circles

Merry Christmas! My saga game is with four yearlings and five pups and a mate. I swear it feels like the time goes by so slowly with pups 😮💨

This is why we sleep with our pups in the tall grass
The Unknown Fate death is unpreventable. Putting pups into the tall grass won’t prevent their deaths.

Do you know how to record and send that finished recording to an iPad to edit??
