Happy birthday Jackson! One thing I’ll say about keeping a leopard gecko the substrate you have isn’t ideal. You want to make sure that what you put in the bottom of its tank isn’t small enough for it to ingest while it’s eating, crickets, or mealworms. They can get impacted and it can really harm them. Instead, I recommend Repi carpet for now until it’s bigger than you can switch it back out for a bioactive set up, which is really easy to clean and is a better environment for the animal ! I work at Petsmart and you have no idea how many people come back in with leopard geckos that have passed because they had repti sand, bark, or soil. Hopefully this advice can help others avoid the same mistake!

When my son was about your age, he wanted a hampster and he got one. We had so much fun with him. He really loved it when we put him in his clear ball and let him just roam around by himself. His name was Nutmeg because that was his color.
A fun thing I learned about leopard geckos when I worked at the zoo as a kid is they like warmth, so if you rub your hands together a whole bunch before you hold them they will curl up in your hands and lay there and maybe sleep. Pretty cute!
