I've been listening to this song without actually understanding the lyrics. It basically means that taking always the safe choices can be boring and make you go insane. It encourages taking risks so you're not inside that "gilded cage" and can actually experience life and go through new and exciting things rather than the safe choices you make because you're afraid. The meaning is beautiful even though it can be interpreted as something else and it can even be interpreted as encouraging things considered bad. Simple and short lyrics, tons of truth and meaning.

I've been listening to this song without actually understanding the lyrics.
It basically means that taking always the safe choices can be boring and make you go insane. It encourages taking risks so you're not inside that "gilded cage" and can actually experience life and go through new and exciting things rather than the safe choices you make because you're afraid. The meaning is beautiful even though it can be interpreted as something else and it can even be interpreted as encouraging things considered bad.
