- The Willys CJ 3B - also known as the “Universal Jeep”. I would actually refer to these 2, as absolute beauties from the "House of Karjali" - and what an amazing restoration it is. Full credit to the restorer - Anu Vikram Karjali.
The CJ-3B was introduced as a 1953 model by Willys-Overland It was a transitional model between the flat-fender CJ-3A, and the forthcoming CJ-5, the civilian version of the M38A1. The 3B had flat front fenders, but a higher-profile hood to accommodate the F-head engine. It offered higher horsepower and torque than the 3A, and a new, quieter 4WD transfer case.
These 3Bs from the House of Karjali work like a dream and have been restored with a lot of love and care to bring them back to former glory. My gratitude to Ajayraj Singh Begu and Adityaveer Ranawat to make this possible. - Авто та транспорт

G I’m currently restoring a Cj3b lhd should I change the ignition to the vaccum one instead of a point one
Ideally should be point one if difficult to find then switch to vacuum.

This is Mahindra Willy's Cj3b? In which year did Mahindra shifted from Left hand drive to Right Hand drive?
It is indeed the CJ 3B, Mahindra readied and shifted from left hand drive to right hand drive in 1968 - 1969. It is actually truly amazing that it took then 2 decades to bring about this change. It is termed as the as the biggest engineering exercise the firm had done on its own accord within the country. The shift from left to right hand drive was also mandated by legislation.

rashid bhai, why the US jeeps became such a rage with the royalty and not the defenders, while India was still under the British occupation....but one rarely sees defenders in INdia.....even the garages dont want to dabble into any project related to defender while willys can be replicated by almost every1 anywhere
Very interesting observation. One is that most of the Royals were part of the war. Because the US jeeps came in plenty (Mass production by Willys and Ford) as a support for the British/ Indian army to defend our north east frontier from the invasion by the Japanese.
Many US army and Air Force personnel were also brought to Calcutta to help thwart the Japanese invasion. So we had many US jeeps leftover in India after WWII. The Land Rover Defender only rolled out in 1947 , so few made it to India.
And the Willys MBs and Ford GPWs were reliable and due to mass production, parts were available in plenty. They were imported by the Royals post the war and relaced the more large and laborious hunting cars that existed.
