I miss this so much. When I lived in the Quarter, I lived at the far end of Royal, near Esplanade, and had to walk to Canal every day to go to work. I would leave 2 hours early just to be able to stop and enjoy the music on the way.
Five regulars from Tuba Skinny in this jam session. Shaye Cohn on fiddle, Barnabus Jones on fiddle, Ryan Baer on banjo, Ewan Bleach on clarinet, and Todd Burdick on tuba. All of these five musicians play from 3 to 7 instruments.

@@NFONoFadeOut Ohh ,,thanks for posting this gem ,, I'd been studying this vid almost frame by frame for an art project I'm developing about nola street musicians,,,to discover the names is actually the result of the curiosity. , I `d been twice in NOLA couple o years ago , unfortunately never saw any of this guys playing,,in that lovely Royal street..wish I could. ,,,any clue' bout what that vintage typewriter is doing there?
@@aldovila thanks for your interest! Please tell us more about this art project of yours, we would love to know more about it! I actually do not know what the typewriter does on the scene, but I can guess that it was intended as a rythmic instrument in some other tracvks played by the band before or after the tune I recorded.
Bon! et bien trompette la je savais! piano il n'y a pas très longtemps que je l'ai découvert ,avec beaucoup de bonheur ,mais je ne savais pas pour le violon !!!!
I grew up in Oregon and around the Pacific Northwest my whole life and am so excited for the day when I finally make it through New Orleans and can witness some of this kind of magic with my own eyes. I’m so glad we have these musicians keeping the spirit of New Orleans alive!
I like the guy playing the homemade bass fiddle. The brown patch on the bottom of his pants is weird, and funny. Also he is very handsome and cute. Everyone in the band is doing a good job.
Energy and talent of your musical formations remind me of my most bright Green Years - the Hippie Generation and the groups that support it. It was the Great Time - The Time of our Revolution ... The Time of our greatest Hopes and Illusions!
I noticed Shay Cohn on the fiddle, quite a surprise, from brass to keyboard to string. But the voice and singing style of the suitcase base drum/guitarist surely is that young man from 'Yes Ma'am String Band', is it?
Playing cornet and leading the groups and even playing the piano, but the violin too? She is terrific. I assume she chooses the repertoire, also. WOW!!
Oh you're lovely, all of you! But the 'Frizzy-One' is my all-time fave (I've seen her playin' the horn, the piano and now the violin....is there any instrument she does not play? Muah!)
Shaye Cohn of "Tuba Skinny" on fiddle. (2nd from right end) She's more often heard playing amazing trumpet or piano. A fabulous multi-talented musician!
From UK, wish I could visit New Orleans and experience the culture

Love this old-timey music! What's really cool is the comments coming in from all over the world. Music is indeed the universal language.
Shay never ceases to amaze me with her talent and versatility.
Each and everyone, has a wonderful personality!

Barnabus blows my mind...my ears/love his take on Trombone and I think he did some Cornet and now fiddle...
Greg Sherman on the Harmonica

The basic band/group is "The Drunken Catfish Ramblers". (Note the "DCR" initials on the box of the string base player).
What a cracking singer Matt Bracken is!
el bajista es buenisimo que buen sonido y ritmo
tks.
Hell yeah, should we call that as a symphonic cover?
