      Exactly. These are the stories my mother used to tell me when I was a child. She is Swedish and knew all the stories about the Gods. I also remember folk tales about dwarves and fairies like this one she used to tell about a fairy that got stuck to a gravestone because it had a cross on it, which is a holy symbol. The man who caught it forced it to grant him wishes. Wish I could find those stories.

    I remember when i was a teenager finding this video, i had always loved mythology, greek and roman, norse, even fables, celtic ect ect, i remember listening to this for the first time (i was about to go on holiday with my family and needed somthing i could listen to that would load quickly and didnt have moving pictures so my data wouldnt be eaten up when i found this) i remember using my phone to hotspot my new kindle fire tablet as id figured out that once a video had loaded on my kindle i could watch it without signal as long as i didnt try go on any other videos (weird quirk the kindle had was that it would lock the controls when no signal so the video was fixed, i could go back and forward upto the loaded point to my hearts content), so loaded a large portion on to my kindle befor we left in the taxi and then used my data to load the rest, brightness as low as possible as i listened to music on my phone, once we were waiting to board, it finally completed so as i sat and turned my phone off, i had a full flights worth of entertainment. It was the perfect length for the flight but also i fell so in love with the voice and the stories, after which i listened to it probably 5 or 6 times on holiday and well i was watching Kaos on netflix which snapped the memory back lol

    Great audio and story telling. I only wish they would have included The Building of the Wall, The Mead of Poetry, Thor as a Bride, Otter's Ransom, Freyr's Courting of Gerd, and I wish they would have also mentioned that Ragnarok isn't the end all. The world actually reemerges and some of the Gods, including Baldr, come back to life

    Loki is the charming and skillful narcissist.
    Some Loki energy is essential to living life well as some rules are shit and need bending.
    These rules can be social, legal, moral or what have you.
    So I see rules are ultra important and life affirming as habit and way... but the occasional bending or breaking of the rules is part of truly winning.

    There is just so many flaws in this telling of the old stories. Gerd(a) was not the daughter of Angerboda and Loke. Her parents were Gymer and Aurboda. This is just a small sample of so many things in this audiobook that is totally wrong, i would suggest moving to another more accurate depiction of the old sagas.

    There's no evidence that vikings had symphonies. Maybe add some bass or turn down the music a tad.
    Seems easy to tell vikings made these stories up for the entertainment of their children. Doesn't much fit with any other known ancient texts. Interesting stories.. giant's feet mating and having offspring before he was fully formed and/ or awake. They seemed to understand the structure of a forming planet.. could have seen volcanoes and lava against winter ice and snow too..

    • @trueshipsxxx2018
      @trueshipsxxx2018 5 років тому

      If you mean Tyr, that's rather difficult to explain since old norse knew vowels and sounds that aren't used in modern-day English. You might find this link helpful, though: ua-cam.com/video/hATJEr9xZDU/v-deo.html

    • @trueshipsxxx2018
      @trueshipsxxx2018 5 років тому

      I reckon this pronunciation pretty much refers to modern day swedish. The 't' sound might have been more on the silent side... rather like 'θ' (as in engl. 'THing')

    • @jaunethmadsen3786
      @jaunethmadsen3786 5 років тому +1

      It's pronounced more like "Tire" like the tires on your car. With a subtle "H" after the T (in old norse). (In old english) it became Teer as in the double ee as in Teeth.

    • @EiriktheNordAndersen-ju4gl
