Which is better, polyurethane or modge podge? What is the difference in the final product. Are both equally washable?

Modge podge isn’t waterproof, so I don’t think it would work to do a transfer like this, and if you were doing something that was going outdoors, or something like a coaster you would want to use poly.

I'm trying this for a phrase and its not transferring to the wood. Does it make a difference if you use ink or laser printer?

I haven’t tried paint but I have used water based stain and it worked well.

If I were to use polyurethane over an image I Mod podged to wood that is hazy...would it clear the haze up as well?

What’s the paper for that ?

You want to use regular printer paper, don't use glossy or photo paper.

Seems like no matter what I do the hazy white reappears after the water / the extra poly dries

I think you forgot to mention, to print the photo in reverse so that when you apply it the perspective will be the same as when it was taken.

you say to use a laser jet but then say the poly should pull the ink off the paper.

Ink…. Toner…. Whatever you want to call it. I use a color laser printer.
