Simon, all thanks to you, your partner-in-knowledge Davon, and your top shelf researchers in assisting this gal (that’s me!) in learning something completely different every day. I recall my pop telling me as a youngster of 8 or so years that Jimmy Stewart was, in fact, an American war hero, but to what extent...wow! An impressive military career, to say the least. Also, the celebrity spies were fascinating. With the exception of Miss Hepburn, I was, until now, unaware of that groups’ contributions. As always, thank🙏you, and I will see you next time!
Slightly off-topic, but definitely worthy of investigating, are the many appearances Jimmy Stewart made on NBC’s THE TONIGHT SHOW about a thousand years ago when a man named Johnny Carson was running the joint. For all of Stewart’s seemingly humble, aw shucks sort of demeanor, he was wickedly funny and would read his own poems that started out normal enough, but would invariably end way the hell out in left field. Google that shit, kids: you’re welcome! 😎💋😎
You could do a whole presentation on Donvan. He was an amazing personality, and with who all we may never know, helped to win the war. I think a long program would work great for him, as well as for Intrepid, who worked closely with Donovan. This American, and Canadian should be fascinating.
Bummer...all old ones i already knew about...that Mel Science Experiment is older than most of those spies, but it was fun to go over all of it again and see your goofy Mr. Wizard side. Pretty awesome what those people did...took way more guts than i have...so how many languages do you speak? I speak 2 1/2, English, with a slightly southern accent, Pig Latin with a slightly Klingon accent, and basic conversational Spanish so i can get the basic communication through, but that also means i get the gist of Italian...and convey the gist using Spanish words... can also pick up bits from French and parrot what i know i've heard in context so i think all that adds up to the 1/2 a language. Do you think people who know multiple languages tend to talk with their hands more? I do. I can't imagine what it's like to speak a dozen languages with no accent...what are your dreams like? Anyway, good video...i'm sure there are plenty of people who don't know this stuff already. Julia Child was 6'2"....and Navy ships were SO SMALL back then...best thing for everyone, really...

Since he mentioned Ian Fleming author of James Bond ( who lived a similar life to his character in some ways) Simon could also do one one other authors who were also spies on the side or former spies, like Robert Ludlum (wrote the Jason Bourne series), John Le Carre (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Spy Who Came In From The Cold and others), Ken Follet (On Wings of Eagles, Hornet Flight), Jack Higgins (The Eagle Has Landed), Frederick Forsythe (Day of the Jackal -on which the Bruce Willis' movie 'Jackal' was based, Dogs of War - based on an actual coup attempt he helped organize against Equatorial Guinea in Africa on behalf of Brit Intel) and several other spy novel authors most who did much of their spy work as former journalists.
I'm here to see how one of my favorite actresses, Audrey Hepburn came to be the thumbnail of this video. Roald Dahl however sounds like the guy spoken of in Carly Simon's song "You're So Vain."

Simon, General Jimmy Stewart also went to Carswell AFB Texas around 1990, when the 7th Bomb Wing of the 8th Air Force dedicated a plane named " Bam Bam". This was to honor him and his role in the movie Strategic Air Command. Bam Bam was the name of the bomber he flies in the movie.Just a bit of extra trivia not everyone knows. David Beddoe - Yep; sometimes it was hidden by camera angles, sometimes by a “hand double” (another actor was used if there was a close up of him doing something with a console etc.)
@@queenannsrevenge100 One of the very few times it's noticeable is in the episode "The Trouble with Tribbles," when Scott is seen carrying a double armload of the little furballs.
predominantly filmed on his left side.
I like spies movies... James Bond in special. And my favorite video is your. Thanks so much for share your amazing videos, Simon
So what about CHRISTOPHER LEE ??? - he was involved in military intelligence in WW2
F.Y.I. - Pure lemon juice works well as invisible ink, also. The message can be read by applying a small amount of heat to the back of the paper. 🍋🔥
Semen as well if you go watch our MI6 vídeo :-) Here's the video That Time MI6 Spymaster Captain MANsfield Cumming Ordered His Spies to Use Semen as Invisible Ink: ua-cam.com/video/02q1kUwOlYw/v-deo.html Literally Captain Cumming that had his men do this... We can't make this stuff up. :-)
@@TodayIFoundOut you have the link?
@@TodayIFoundOut True, but lemon juice raises fewer questions (and eyebrows) if found being stored in the refrigerator for future use. 😉🙂
@@TodayIFoundOut I don't think a demonstration of that would be YT safe.

Just so interesting. Beautiful enunciation too
Great video
You are such a hoot and can be so serious . I love all your videos. I was wondering how the C-Section came about and why is it called Cesarean Section? I'm an old L&D RN, retired. I dont think we were taught this. Thank you!!
Simon, all thanks to you, your
partner-in-knowledge Davon, and your top shelf researchers in assisting this gal (that’s me!) in learning something completely different every day.
I think there's a video of him flying a B-36. "Six turning, four burning", I think.
Phenomenal work, dude. A real contribution to our culture. Thx.
Spy messages through the kids’ chemistry set! 😂 Perfect for you Video! 😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I’ve seen this in a spy movie! 😁
You could do a whole presentation on Donvan. He was an amazing personality, and with who all we may never know, helped to win the war. I think a long program would work great for him, as well as for Intrepid, who worked closely with Donovan. This American, and Canadian should be fascinating.
Omg he is soo cute. The twinkle in his eye when he starting to see his what he wrote. "So cool" 😍😍
If/When you do a sequel, you could also include Charles Lindbergh.
Also Sorrel Booke, Boss Hogg/Dukes of Hazard. He worked for the CIA, and was a China and Asia specialist.
Great content: 4:40 Was there a Batman movie with Adam West? I think you mean the TV series?
Simon the Scientist: "That's about 20 drops". Then KABOOM goes the studio. LOL
Dennis Rodman is modern day.
I've read about William Holden doing clandestine stuff post-WWII. (He was the best man at Reagan's wedding to Nancy.)
so you're saying roald was undercover.
bs jeffrey Worthy of more than a thumbs up!
This movie just made my week...and thats the day after Xmas
Adam West really WAS Bat Man!
Pure... West... ;-) -Daven
Mr. West was a great man. I didn’t get to know him until later in his life. He was a lovable , funny and happy man. He even befriended a nobody like me.
@@davidhawkins7946 You were never a nobody! He obviously saw something worthwhile in you! Always remember that and honor his judgement!
H. R. Gerrard I’m sorry for randomly chiming in from the peanut gallery about something you wrote months ago, but your comment genuinely put a smile on my face. It’s so rare to see someone online expressing a real generosity of spirit toward a stranger as you did. Thanks, H.R.!
Audrey also use to smuggle messages for the resistance
I'm here to see how one of my favorite actresses, Audrey Hepburn came to be the thumbnail of this video. Roald Dahl however sounds like the guy spoken of in Carly Simon's song "You're So Vain."
A proper thumbnail pic nice
Dr. Ruth Westheimer was an israeli scout sniper when she was in her early 20s.
txgunguy She wasn’t famous when she did that, though.
@@jslferrell
Drew Carey wasn't famous when he was a Marine, either. Most of these people only got famous later.
txgunguy All of those mentioned by Simon were famous prior to their service.
@@jslferrell
Not all of them. Prior to the 1945 no one had ever heard of Julia Child or Audrey Hepburn or Ian Fleming. Most of these people were unknown to the general public until after the war.
txgunguy Mea Culpa.
You got me laughing about the quips on the Bat-Shark Repellant
Moe Berg biography “The Catcher Was a Spy” was a very entertaining read. He was quite a character.
You can trust it, I was enlisted in the USAF and at Carswell AFB during that time.
TIFO: “Another, called operation Goldeneye...”
Screen Rant Pitch Meeting: “That’s the name of the movie!...”
TIL Julia Childs was 6'2"
Another one to add if you ever do a second part is the writer Graham Greene.
