HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!🏡✨ This week I am tackling some DIY home projects before the holidays! We are hosting this year and I want to get the house up to speed before starting with our holiday decor! If you are working on spaces of your home too I hope this gives you some motivation to get started on those projects! Todays video is filled with tips & tricks and must have product selections! Everything will be linked below in the description box :)
Aww on your office door hardware. (I didn't notice it's upside down lol) It's really beautiful though. Glad you painted the kitchen. Say I have a question I love your lounge outfit (grey sweats material) at the end. I'm wondering where you got that? Thanks. Can't wait to see the Christmas decorating videos. Thanks for the update on the mini kitchen reno.
It does not require an electrician to change out your outlets. It just takes a screw driver after you have turned the power off and is a super easy DIY job. We change them every house we've moved into and taught our daughters how to do it in their homes.
Good afternoon dear Kristen!! So happy that I found your channel. I really love what you have done with your kitchen----so lovely. Nothing like a light and bright kitchen. Your home office is so pretty too. You have wonderful design ideas. Happy New Year----Jules
The teacher in me can't help say this. You really should say something to him about the doorknob plate. As a professional, he should really appreciate it. Otherwise he is going to keep making the same mistake. As my grandma always says, "I learn from every person I meet. Everyone has something to give.". I've learned so much from you. Thank you.❤
You know you have a point, I did the same thing with the maintenance guy who "fixed" my shower knobs. He didn't really do it right and so now there's no rhyme or reason to the hot and cold adjustment, but the guy is so nice I didn't want to hurt his feelings. Then I was talking to a neighbor and they said that he did the same thing to their shower. Sigh.
Hi Kristen, ahh now the kitchen looks bright, fresh and cohesive with the rest of your house. Always love your DIY’s and helpful tips. Love the French door on your office, and you really do make painting look effortless, you’re a natural! 💕Dee
I know, I was thinking wow I'd have paint everywhere, and couldn't believe she had one little mat under the paint container lol I just wonder what kind of cupboards they're going to go with in the future. And now what color they will paint the island. It's so much fun having a new house with all sorts of possibilities.
@@cyndeewenzel6439 I agree, I recently painted my kitchen over and I think I had more paint on me than the walls lol 😂. She is so neat and makes it look so easy. Definitely looking forward to seeing what does with the rest of her home. It’s definitely exciting and fun making over a new home to make it your own. 👍🏼💕
I love when you do videos like this! It inspires and motivates me to get the miscellaneous diys done around my house too. And I learn so much from you! ❤
Westhighland white is my favorite wall color and I was so happy to see someone finally use it. It's a beautiful soft white and your kitchen looks ten times better after you painted it.
I LOVED the flow of this video!!! Idk how to describe it but it really felt like real life action and not a pro (as you are) working. That probably didn’t make sense but as usual you nailed it!!!
Kristen, I have the same knobs and noticed right away it was upside down! If you plan to use the same knobs in the rest of the house, you should flip the plate.
Happy Sunday!! Kristen you make painting look so effortless. I wish it brought me joy to do it because I know it's one of the easiest ways to make your house look fresher, but I hate painting with a passion. Ugh.🤣
Love your ideas Kristen, but please change the door knob I noticed it straight away, also don’t forget to paint the hinged strip of timber that you see when your door is open. Your home is looking beautiful and can’t wait to see what is next. Cheers from Australia
Absolutely let the installer know their mistake. It is a lesson earned and he will be so appreciative knowing. My eye went to the plate immediately and would always go to that plate, my brain would never allow me to not fix it. Glad you were able to overlook it, a peace I’ve yet to find. Everything is coming together beautifully. Tfs
Thank you so much for this! We just bought an old horse farm and we have literally been spraying everying white to bring it back to a "starting point". I was beginning to think I was crazy when I was explaining this to people but you stated it beautfully and reconfirmed we are taking the correct step!
I wouldn't change the door handle in your office. It looks good the way it is, and as you said the screw holes might have to redrilled and sometimes to fix things, it causes more problems. It looks beautiful.
Kristen your new home looks so beautiful already! I wish I had a room like you all do in the back. What a difference the paint made in the kitchen, it really made a difference! Thanks for sharing❤
Small detail that elevates your space... When you screw in switch plate covers or door handles using a standard slot screw, orientate the screw North - South. It looks much tidier than leaving the screw slots randomly pointing in all directions.
The kitchen is so much better with the white paint. Now, to the elephant in the office. I would definitely switch the door knob plate. A little wood filler, sanding, paint, and you're done. It's not that noticeable, but "you" know it. The installer should have realized he was putting that on upside down. The French door adds so much character and charm to your office. Love it.
Oh my gosh I have those exact same knobs and backplates throughout my house! It took me a solid year to purchase and replace all of the 90s brass builder grade knobs, but I bought one doorknob each month, and just finished the project a couple of months ago -- I was so excited to see you had the same combo! I did the oil rubbed bronze, but really debated getting the unlacquered brass. We used glass oval knobs on all of the bathroom doors. FWIW I think the backplate upside down looks as good as it does the other way round. I love following your new house progress -- it kind of makes me wish I was updating a new house again LOL.
Loved this! I know the feeling, we moved in last sept and literally just finished renovating the first floor. It just takes time, but that s good as you do get better ideas when you have been living there a bit
Who else whipped out the tape measure to see if their pictures were hung at the right level? Me! Me! Another great video, Kristen! You pack so much information into your videos, and I appreciate how well produced they are because they are so engaging and you don’t repeat the same sentence 5 times while you’re thinking of what to say. You are truly my favorite You Tube designer!
Girl! This made such a big difference! I'm currently renovating my home and I watch your videos all the time!!! You have such clean taste!!!! I love the tips you give, you're so talented
The kitchen is so much more integrated with the rest of the house. Great idea to paint it. I have French doors within our home, and I love them, however, I wouldn't change the placement of the knob plate. It looks great where it is and balances out the frame of the door.
Love the paint color in the kitchen! White is a color I want to add more of in my house. We get very little natural light in our house and we need it ! Looks beautiful!
Though painting the kitchen white does look alot better and brighter, I do feel it kinda made the kitchen cabinets look dated & darker. I prob would have just embrace the vintage style including painting wall paint same antique color as the cabinets. The offwhite will still brighten up the room but not bring as much contrast as white paint.
Can't wait to see your Christmas decorating. I love your new home. We just moved into a new townhouse. So much things to do and I can't wait to decorate for Christmas. I got a new 6 and 1/2 ft pre-lit tree. I'm all excited❤
The light switch plate idea is so cool! Though, swapping the outlet for a new one is the easiest electrical DIY you can do if you've never done electrical work. And the same concept applies to swapping out light fixtures too, so you can even replace that breakfast nook night with a flush mount fixture if you ever want light in that area.
I love your kitchen now. It’s so light and bright! I also love your gallery wall and pics between the window. You have the magic touch with all your decor. Love it! 💕
First of all I love your videos. About the door knob, I didn’t notice and had no idea it was on the wrong way until you said something. It still looks great 👍🏾 🫶🏽🫶🏽

Fantastic job on brightening the kitchen!!! It makes me want to suggest - since you're getting more paint anyway - I'd be awfully tempted to paint over that tile backsplash at the same time. Love everything you do though!! And I agree I would have left the knob upside down too ! Who knows- you may start a new trend!!!😂 Xoxo from Canada ❤
Kristen, love the channel! Getting so many ideas and learning a lot. One question- I never see you prep the walls before painting, but I was always taught that the prep (sanding, filling etc) is super important. Do you do it, but not show on camera, or do you just get stuck in with the paint? 🤔
Great job as always, Kristen! You have such a beautiful home and adding your magic touch makes it even more beautiful. If you’re ever looking to adopt an adult, I’m available! 😆
I think the door knob looks just fine I never would have known it's upside down I kind of like it the way it is. And I would notice stuff like that. I think maybe because you had it in your mind that it goes the other way then that's kind of stuck in your mind. What if you look at it with fresh eyes it doesn't matter which way. It can go either way.

I noticed but that’s only because I’ve just sat and picked and installed handles in my entire house myself this summer otherwise it’s not noticeable but if you do flip it you only have to fill 2 tiny holes , nows the time to do it whilst your still painting , if it were me I’d leave it because it’s just the back plate now if you we’re installing the same handle anywhere else get it flipped because then it’s noticeable
