Sounds like a good idea! I’m probably going to look into radiators for my tortoise’s shed in the garden (for when he’s indoors). I’d swap out the “long” UV strip at the back of the enclosure for a high quality LED such as a Jungle Dawn. It’ll produce much more light. I’d also add a second Jungle Dawn at the backing site so that you’re absolutely blasting that area with light.
All great ideas . I do want to add uv throughout the enclosure with a 0 uvi on the cool side but with zone 3 throughout the enclosure and zone 4 on the basking site
With all three bulbs and the uv bar at the top how warm does that make his hot spot? And will it keep that temp of the room itself is cold in the winter?
one of my vivs is 7x3x3 and i have 4 heat lamps 2 at 1/3 in from the ends . first two day an night controlled to 40.c 8am till 7pm then drops to 32.c for this time of year other two at the other side ar premenently 30.c as he will go over to cool or to dip in his pool i got a prorep heat projector from crr in the hot spot too help the other light out and i can say he does feel warmer for longer when out handling him so that benefits for him with digestion and play time out .new stuff is the way forward for the best quality of life for youre reptile ,regards warren
Deffo keep us posted on the results as building two 9'x6'x7' in the UK for my monitor's. Heating is my biggest worry as I'm going to build an insulated shed to house them.
Hay, wanted to ask your advice. I'm building a 5x2x3 for my jungel carpet python and not sure about heating it. I have 150w CHE just now but dont know if they'll be good enough for a bigger enclosure. Before they got old and past I kept big snakes for years but had a heated reptile room for them so heating the enclosures was dead easy but I've moved flats since so cant give them there own rooms and it's always quite cold in here. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated:)
This is the way I think about animals passing most animals have a shorter life than humans so whilst they have there shorter time on earth with us we’ve got to give them the best life we can
