Kathy Bates's character is one of the few who was an actual person who lived. She was known as "The Unsinkable Molly Brown". She grew up poor, married into money, but never bought into the high-society bullshit. She went on to use most of her fortune to help support families of the "lower class" people who died on the ship. And she actually insisted that her lifeboat go back and find survivors when everyone else refused. She was a badass.
Jack and Rose and their respective groups(Cal, Rose’s Mom, Fabrizio, Tommy, and the Swedish people) were the only fictional characters.
Most of peaple were real. Even the guy drinking few minutes from sinking. Alcohol saved his life and kept his body warm until lifeboat saved him...
I thought her and her husband were both poor and he got rich somehow. I actually think her husband did hit a gold mine and thats how they got rich. James cameron wouldnt include that if it werent true for her.
@@hasicazulatv2078 Sorry, I misspoke. He was poor when they married and then made his fortune.
James Cameron definitely would (and did) give fictitious accounts of real people though (such as Will Murdoch)
Titanic is easily the greatest disaster movie ever made. It is also one of the greatest romances ever put on film. It is also one of the greatest Hollywood epics ever made. Titanic features one of the greatest, most popular movie soundtracks ever composed. The ending is arguably the greatest in film history. Titanic belongs right alongside great, timeless classics like Gone With The Wind and Casablanca.
I saw this masterpiece 15 times while it was in theaters and many more times since.
The scene at 7:12 has always stuck with me. I would never be able to sleep at night again knowing I turned my back on people and left them to drown as they screamed, "Don't leave," and asked for help I could have provided them. This entire film is a masterpiece of film-making.
I'm glad you gave props to Celine. That song became kind of a joke meme, but it is a a great song...and Celine is a powerhouse singer.
I went to see Celine in March 2020 just before everything shut down in NY. Let me tell you, I CRIED like a baby during My Heart Will Go On. One of the best songs of all time and she still does such a great job singing it.
For me the final scene is where the film really cements itself in earning that Oscar. What a masterpiece.
They actually tested and proved it on Mythbusters; the door could not have held Rose and Jack both to survive. James Cameron did his work.
James Cameron also did a test which shows that getting them both on the door the way people think they’d fit would cause it to sink. There was one way they both got on, door was partially sinking and James said taking into account everything that the character’s went through before getting to the door Jack was still a MAYBE for survival. JC defo does his work!
The movie establishes anyways that they both tried to get on the door but it wasn't working. So that's good enough for me.
Exactly and I don’t think anyone realized that it wasn’t a door, it was a door frame which goes around a door……it’s not meant to hold anything super heavy on top of it hence why when both Jack and Rose tried to float on it, slipped underneath them. Rose would’ve had to have been pretty light in weight for her to have stayed afloat on it.
In 2012, I lost everything during Hurricane Sandy. While trying to escape the rising water in my ground floor apartment, and also praying that I wouldn't be electrocuted, I was trapped behind a heavy iron bed frame. I was scared because I knew that as the water rose, and being trapped like I was, I could easily drown. I was rescued as the flood reached my collar bone, I was terrified. I can't imagine how afraid the passengers of the Titanic must have been.
Omfg! That's terrible that you went through that! I'm so sorry but glad to know you're here with us today 😢
@@chrisofstars Thank you so much. It was one of the worst nights of my life, October 29, 2012!
The creator Andrews was a noble man who in reality fought to have more and better safety features put into the ship but due to aesthetics and space reasons white star decided to ignore him. He did go missing when the ship sunk in real life too and I'd like to believe that is what he did while waiting
That's a myth.
There are no evidences to prove Ismay , or anybody, asked to lower the number of lifeboats.
The purpose of lifeboats were different at the time, not to hold everyone for a long time but to ferry passengers from sinking ship to rescue ship.
The laws calculated number of lifeboats based on size, not passenger capacity. By law, Titanic's size needed 16 lifeboats. Titanic had 4 additional boats. It wasn't Titanic exclusive, but any ship larger than 10000 GRT like Lusitania, Mauretania etc all had 16 lifeboats.
Also, Andrews wasn't the original designer. It was Alexander Carlisle. He designed the Olympic class. When he retired, Andrews took over.
Thomas Andrews was last seen at the port side of the bridge, jumping into the sea along with Captain Smith when the final plunge started.
The three great mysteries of life
1. Is there life after death
2. Why do bad things happen to good people?
3. Could Jack and Rose both have fit on that door?
#3 was about buoyancy, not size. They already demonstrated that with two people, it would go under.
@@MsAliciaRL Thank you, I don't know why, but it makes me so mad when people bring this up lol. The movie literally shows you that they're too heavy to both be supported by it
They showed in the movie that Jack did try to fit on the boat but he clearly couldn’t, plus you gotta take a few things into consideration…..1: they had already been on the water before the ship sank. Once Jack was handcuffed and placed into that room and Rose went to get him…..there was already water getting into the ship, and mind you it was freezing cold Atlantic Ocean water so their bodies were already so cold. 2: the “door” wasn’t a door at tall, it was a door frame taken from one of the first class lounges, which meant that it technically wasn’t supposed to carry anything on top of it and if it had to it couldn’t have been anything extremely heavy. Now, space and width wise….yes there was enough room for them both, but if you factor in how cold they both were and how frigid the water was….they would need to be completely lifted from the water in order to survive, and sadly……even if they did fit, eventually the water would’ve gone on top of them and they both would’ve died.
I loved the pictures by the bed of her doing ALL the things they talked about they would do once the ship docked. Jack told her she was gonna go on, live life, and die an old lady warm in her bed. Amazing how she did, way and above the area on a ship above a burial ground
I never fail to get emotional and feel cold everytime i watch this movie. Even reacts to it get to me the same way. The acting from everyone and james camerons work is all just phenomenally done and makes it all too real
Finally a reactor who appreciates Rose’s grit as much as I do.
bruh the timing lmao
Right?!
Right!!!😬😬😂
😂😂😂
I LOVE how the movie sets up Cal as the ultimate example of toxic masculinity directly opposed to Jack's healthy masculinity
Yes Jack is such a bro. I always get sad when bro Jack dies. 😢
“I’ll never let go”
Lets him go. 😅
Great movie.
I get what you're saying at the end. True love stories are hard to find today, when guys are like "I don't fuck with a girl unless she's got a big booty I can show off on my gram", and girls are like "I don't fuck with dudes who can't buy me shit to put on my gram".
Billy Zane played aPsycho in Dead Calm.Brilliant Thriller.Sam Neil, Nicole Kidman. The only 3 characters for 90% of the Film. The ending is great.
Always enjoy your reactions, Cameron never disappoints
Kate Winslet ALWAYS has great chemistry with the men who play opposite her, going all the way back to BOTH Greg Wise as Willoughby and the great Alan Rickman as Col. Brandon in "Sense and Sensibility." If you can find it, check out the movie "Jude", based on the Thomas Hardy novel "Jude the Obscure." Arguably the most depressing novel ever written turned into the most depressing movie ever made, but it's brilliant, and so is she, opposite the Ninth Doctor himself, Christopher Eccleston.
Kate Winslet is a great actress def!
This movie was amazing but made even more so that it really happened. With the exception of Jack and rose the other people were real. Even tho there have been greater tragedies, this ship has captured the imagination more than anything else. Multiple movies were made, this being the biggest of course and most accurate for its time (tho since they've proven a few things wrong such as the ship broke apart after it sank and there's much debate on whether there were closed gates or not as many 3rd class passengers died because they couldn't read or speak English so simply got lost trying to make it on deck), countless documentaries and books and now of course will be a resurgence with the submersible carrying titanic tourists and adventurers being lost with everyone aboard. But it was absolutely true the life boats at first weren't even half full, when had only 19 people! It's also true only one boat returned for survivors and only 7 I think we're pulled out, how many didn't die of pneumonia I don't know. What wasn't shown was there was a ship, the Californian not far away, close enough to have saved many more but claimed they didn't see it. It haunted them for the rest if their lives and destroyed their careers. The carpathia however got numerous awards for their actions. I'd suggest watching a documentary on the subject. There's a million of them.
Incredible timing 😂
“Now you gotta die with a black eye!” 😂😂😂
The old couple in the bed was on the Titanic. She did not Want to leave her husband. The old man who did not Want to put on a lifejacket was also on Titanic. He did not Want to leave as long as there were still women and children there.
They also did lock the Doors so people from third class could not get up.
I like telling people that the guy who fell and hit the propeller was actually Jackie Chan.
Leo & Kate are best friends in real life from the beginning til now
The emergency flare was to hopefully alert any ships in the area for help!
I love your reaction vids! Just found your channel now have to catch up on your other vids. Ty❤❤
The second officer, Charles Lightoller, who in this movie is not necessarily depicted as a great person-he threatens to shoot passengers, he refuses to fill lifeboats with anyone other than women and children, etc. actually survived the sinking and saved 25 people from the water while floating on an overturned lifeboat. Lightoller would also go on to be in the inspiration for Mark Rylence's character in the move Dunkirk, where the real Lightoller saved 150 servicemen from the water with his private vessel. Cameron does a disservice to one of the most heroic people who ever lived.
The family of the first officer, William Murdoch, who in this film is depicted as committing suicide, settled a lawsuit against Cameron for the way Murdoch was depicted. According to Lightoller's accounts, Murdoch was alive at the sinking and possibly swam with Lightoller to the overturned lifeboat. There were also accounts of gunshots on the deck, but it is unknown who fired them and at what.
I don't know what to think of the timing!? 🤔
Same, I just got finished reading the report of the implosion.
Facts. I'm like, "Please let this be a coincidence." Billionaires or not, it would be in poor taste to do this on purpose.
Lmfao I know right
It’s the rich girl falling for the poor artist is just so awesome as a love story!
"He lives now, only in my memory".. almost a direct quote from the end of The Road Warrior. For all I know from something earlier than that ; ).
I commend your courage. This has to be the ballsiest timing for a reaction drop I’ve ever seen. Savage. 😂
Why does everyone say that? What’s with the timing if I might ask?
@@GgghgggtI don't get it either
They mean because of the rich ppl dem that died in the submarine that went to view the titanic wreckage
@@CeirraNY thank you
@@CeirraNY If they were black rich people you'd be all over it eh?
Shooting flares is a signal to nearby ships you are in danger.
WHAT A DISH 🤣😍
Dude, do you NOT KNOW this movie, with the exception of the Jack & Rose storyline, is based on a real true life event from April 14, 1912 !!!!? Everything else you do see isn’t a horror “movie”. It actually happened. Other than those facts, bruh, your reactions are always fire 🔥. You should also try reacting to the James Bond films all of them
I gotta hand it to Astor or Gugenheim, one of the richest men in America went out like a G.
Everyone complaining about the timing. 🙄GTFO it
The most horrifying aspect of this tragedy was that it was relatively AVOIDABLE. It disgusts me when humans knowingly make greedy decisions that cost LIVES
Was it, though? Avoidable? I see Titanic as a fixed point in time *grin*. Had it not been this liner, it would have been any other one, that's for sure. Look at the American or British inquiry, speeding through that area was actually what all liners did and Titanic did have more boats than advised... And having more boats wouldn't have helped either, as they barely had the time to launch most of the boats they did have. The last collapsible were actually swept away from the ship, they did not have the time to lower them - but that's another story for another day. As I was saying, it happened just as it had to in order for the maritime regulations of the time to be improved. Regulations that are still in use today. Cheers!
@silviachiorean3480 from my understanding it could totally have been prevented. The risks were well understood and it wasn't taken seriously enough
@@lucianaromulus1408 in hindsight everything that went wrong in history could have totally been prevented.... No one ever imagined such a situation - with the exception of Morgan Robertson of course., until it had actually happened. And as I said, according to the rules and regulations of the time, Titanic officers and captain did nothing wrong.... Carpathia when she went to the rescue also went all steam ahead, even redirecting steam from other facilities (warm water, heating) to add to its speed. And she went through the same iceberg-laced waters as Titanic. Only that they had more lookouts due to the knowledge that Titanic struck an iceberg and consequently those lookouts were properly equipped.
Classic. And As per usual, great reaction, even if it wasnt a first timer. My Fav movie of all time, I think you already reacted to, AlienS, also a Cameron movie of course.
If you want to see Billy Zane in a likable role, you may be interested in Memphis Belle. It is a war movie, mind you.
I always hear now people questioning the end with the door having room. It's not about room, it's more about both of their weight at the time, I'm guessing close to 300lbs for them both. Also factor that in, but also that looks like a solid wood door, so that's not light either.
1:43 I remember when seeing this part in theater in 1997 everybody in the theater started cheering and laughing. 😂
Edit: Also at this part 6:24 😂
Probably the best review ive ever seen on this film u killed it at the end explaining what everyone else doesn't have the words to say💯👌
You should check out the 1960's version of Romeo & Juliet.
hello and thankyou for watching one of my all time fave films. My all time fave films are the planet of the apes reboot starring Andy Serkis doing the motion cam work as Ceasar leader of the apes. arise of the planet of the apes, dawn of the planet of the apes and war for the planet of the apes. have you seen them? they’re epic pure screen gold. if you haven’t seen them may e you could react to them sometime. i’d love to see your reaction to them. Apart from them i also love braveheart, terminator 2, the crow starring Brandon Lee and Man of Steel with Henry Cavill playing Superman. Take care and thankyou for the great reaction to titanic. 😘
Loved your reaction. Try something more joyful Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell. It's funny and oh the shade. Please give it a try
Movies: (Upgrade) from 2018, (Enemy of the State) with Will Smith, (The Prodigy) from 2019.
Last but not least (Cruel Intentions)
For a fascinating contrast of styles.....
There is a 1958 harrowing, stirring black and white film ( it's been colorized) called "A Night to Remember" ...not the Hollywood spectacle but very very moving as British films often are....on the Titanic.
100% Rotten Tomatoes. 5 stars RT.
It's interesting how different cultures interpret human tragedy on this scale.
I so much prefer this film. Quieter, heart breaking, agonizing based on Walter Lord's book.
(Not the 1942 comedy/crime flick)
And the book was based on the official enquiry into the disaster.
Did you enjoy the reaction?
I mean RIP but hell their were numerous ways to avoid this. Safety is real , the checklists are their for a reason and the Logitech controller? Really? Thoughts and prayers.....ugh.
I loved your movie reaction to Titanic. I agree, film is a masterpiece.
The major mis conceptions in this movie are that A) they didn't lock 3rd class in, they just mostly didn't know how to get to the upper decks. (to get to the lifeboats) B) The lack of lifeboats was because it was the law at the time and they figured another ship would come to help in time in order to use them multiple times, because of radio, but some of the ships in the area were either illegally fishing or the closest major one's radio man went to bed. Loved it as a kid but outside of the last 30ish minutes it is mediocre at best.
And portrayal of Ismay and Murdoch
Oh my really the timing dude?
I don't know what it is but many movies has been to is always an incident. Freakout of two dozen dudes in Bruno? Guy freaking out when we saw Titanic "they're All Dead! They're All Dead!" When they're in the water... Screaming freaking out running up the aisle. When we saw are aliens and 86 they stopped the film cuz the guy had a heart attack. What we saw dumb and dumber in San Francisco there was a tremor that shook the theater. Everyone left but us lol... WTF?! I can go on and on...
I'm a new sub, and I really enjoyed your reaction. A question for you: Do you think Rose could've lived in poverty with Jack, had he lived? Or do you think she'd have regretted her decision to be with him, once the relationship was back in the real world, and the romance of the ship was gone?
I'd like to think that Rose would've been happy with Jack, but the jaded part of me thinks that it probably wouldn't have worked out unless they sold her necklace, lol.
I know you're addressing Caped Informer, but she definitely could've lived in poverty with Jack. She started all over again in the US by herself as someone who technically didn't exist and assumingly pulled herself out of poverty. She didn't have any money from her mom, as her father left them in debt, and she didn't have any of Cal's money. I think together, Rose & Jack could've built a good life.
Ruthless timing dropping this😂
Titanic is one sad ass movie.
Great timing
Sunk to a new low
Any plans for..... Sardar udham..... Movie?????
"Now you're going to die with a black eye" lol
I'm sure putting this out today wasn't planned, the disrespect would be kinda....
Have you heard the theory that Jack is a time traveler that was sent back to make sure that Rose lived?
I think if i have a girl in that situation i can make it till the rescue, i would kiss rose untill the rescue came,. That make me feel hot.. 🔥 but this no doubt make me emotion for real lol
Kate Winslet actually fell in love with Leo while making this movie, and I don't think she ever completely got over it. But Leo is Leo, and he refuses to be tied down.
Leo only dates 20 year olds till the end of time
She didn't. But they became best friends and still are today.
🚩🚩🚩
@@J_Djarin Yep, he friend-zoned her...because she was older than 25.
@@J_Djarin But she has since become older than 25. Leo has 2 rules (based on his track record), 1) Don't get involved with a leading lady, and 2) Don't get involved with anyone over 25.
She's in love with him. Has been since Titanic. It's no secret. Everyone knows this but you.
Back when the Titanic movie was made: he died to save her.. 2023: move over bish there's plenty of room.
Because of the times. 😆
I always thought Rose was a horrible person.....
Sure her fiance was a major douche....but she cheated on her fiance....then had her lover draw her nude and put the drawing in his safe to find....
then....the entire purpose of the whole journey.....
all of the millions of dollars and years of dedication and effort spent to find that diamond that she had the whole time ...and instead of just saying yeah i have the diamond and its mine...she tells a story of her banging some dude she just met and throws the damn thing over the side just to spite them....
Dreadful film , far better night to remember, check out scott of the antarctic with john Mills heartbreaking
Bruh. I love your videos but this ain't it.
"Re-uploaded due to copyright issues" about as believable as Bigfoot.
