Yestoday was four years in the making by Taeyong. It had five different versions and took two years to record (source: their vlive). It's really special to him since he worked hard on it and if you dive into the lyrics, you'd see how personal it is to him, so for me, I think it's okay he had the longest part and I'm really proud he didn't give up on it. Anyway, that aside, I really love this song, listen to it all the time, it's such a gem in the empathy album.

Saw this on Twitter and I feel like I need to share it.. do you know that a symbolism of A PARROT IN A DREAM is that you'll be a victim of gossip and the parrots represents the opinions that may affect you in a certain way and notice how Taeyong was the one surrounded by parrots? This song really hits home for taeyong, and I'm just so proud of him for sharing his personal feelings, for having the courage to share this to us cause we all know he had a hard time back then and I'm really so fcking proud of him. NCT has a very good vocal line tbh. But it's pretty shadowed by the rap which is the main focus for most NCT songs. I recommend that you listen to Try Again by d.ear and Jaehyun (NCT) and for Taeil, he did an OST pre-debut called Because Of You.
Maybe you didn't notice, but Taeyong had parrots and fish, Mark had an iguana, and Lucas had a butterfly. These animals are dream symbols (I think, but I'm sure, since NCT's concept this time are about dreams) and signify the members in which they appear with. For example, a parrot represents mocking attitude of others, mocking attitude of self, betrayal, gossip, back biting and also grapevine. I think it shows Taeyong's past and regrets (the rumors about him were false and exaggerated and he went through a lot). doyoung has been my main bias since day 1!! during SM ROOKIES, i didn’t have a bias, but immediately when i heard The 7th Sense i heard doyoung’s vocals and i knew he was going to be my bias. i watched the video and i have been supporting them for over 2 years now and doyoung is still at the top of the list for me and i’m so happy that people are giving him more appreciation now compared to when he debuted. like you said, his vocals are so silky and smooth and very adaptable because he suits a lot of different styles. he can blend well into this jazzy, R&B style, but he adds balance to some of the more harder NCT songs. taeil and jaehyun, the other main vocalists of the group (and they’re also biases rip) are also phenomenal vocalists and all 3 each have their own strengths. all 3 bring smth different to every NCT song and they’re very skilled and controlled. doyoung is still my fave because there’s smth about his voice that just does it for me. he’s also refreshing because he’s so funny and smart and sassy. hes great at speaking, hence why he’s always MCing and explaining their concept, and he’s also very confident in his skills and looks (and so he should be 😍💖) they said that if taeyong wasn’t a leader of a unit or the whole group, then other leaders could be johnny and doyoung. i have to agree because doyoung gets along w everyone so well and he has this sense, knowledge, and control about him that makes for great leadership. he’s a very composed member that adds so much to their team 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I would really appreciate a "Diving Deeper into NCT"! You should really check out their Side-tracks because they have a variety of different sounds and they're all soo good. I would definitely recommend Back 2 U (my fave), Heartbreaker, Sun & Moon, Running 2 U, Whiplash, Summer 127 and maybe also Wake Up (I don't really listen to many NCT Dream songs :( ) Also, their Vocal Line is no joke! The Empathy album is a mixture of solos and singles that NCT has released in the past. Including Chinese versions of some songs and a few songs that are new. Some songs include Timeless (which features Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Taeil and was done in the past) and Dream in a Dream (Ten solo, also done in the past) but newer smaller section songs like Yestoday. I suggest checking out those music videos because some are very simplistic and others are busy, just depends on what song. You probably have already seen some of the Mv’s (I’ve been subscribed for quite a while but I literally can’t remember what you’ve reacted to) but others I’m sure you haven’t. the vocal line (taeil, doyoung, and jaehyun) have songs of their own too: without you, sun & moon, and timeless. sun & moon is my favourite NCT song of all time and YESTODAY has to be a new favourite on my list. the rap balanced with the vocals and the message of the song...i love it so much. the vocal line has always stood out to me in NCT (the rap line too of course, but i’m always impressed w the strength and quality of the vocalists and how they don’t get washed out by the skilled af rappers). sun & moon has to be my favourite because the vocals are so hauntingly beautiful. not to be cheesy but it’s a song that i feel like is what falling and being in love feels like. anytime i listen to it, it literally takes me to another place. it’s that type of song 💖✨🌙✨💖
YESTODAY definitely showcased the skills of the rappers and it reminded me of MAD CITY in a sense, because the song starts off w jaehyun’s vocals and then it’s all rapping from both taeyong and mark. it’s a b-side from the first NCT 127 album and i still fucking love it because you can rlly hear their anger shine through 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
honestly i can’t wait for you to do a listening party to NCT because they have so many hidden gems. i also can’t wait for a listening party for BTS and Monsta X for the same reasons ✨

I dont know how to address you lol but Mr. Producer Im glad u like Doyoung too! I fell love at first sight on TY during their Intro video but after watching NCT Life and actually listening to JaeIlYoung I fell in love with Doyoung the most. You should definitely checkout their other songs they are really good. Checkout TIMELESS live version mv it is sung by Doyoung, Jaehyun and Taeil. The song is very emotional :)
Taeyong wrote the song and it is very personal to him, so I think it is only right that he got to rap as much of the song as he did:)

There’s only gonna be one more MV PD and that’s for the song Black on Black. However, you might have already heard everything else on the empathy album cause Sm recycled a bunch of their old songs for it, so nearly every song besides the outro and Black on Black has an MV currently. I would really appreciate a "Diving Deeper into NCT"! You should really check out their Side-tracks because they have a variety of different sounds and they're all soo good. I would definitely recommend Back 2 U (my fave), Heartbreaker, Sun & Moon, Running 2 U, Whiplash, Summer 127 and maybe also Wake Up (I don't really listen to many NCT Dream songs :( )

The Empathy album is a mixture of solos and singles that NCT has released in the past. Including Chinese versions of some songs and a few songs that are new. Some songs include Timeless (which features Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Taeil and was done in the past) and Dream in a Dream (Ten solo, also done in the past) but newer smaller section songs like Yestoday. I suggest checking out those music videos because some are very simplistic and others are busy, just depends on what song. You probably have already seen some of the Mv’s (I’ve been subscribed for quite a while but I literally can’t remember what you’ve reacted to) but others I’m sure you haven’t. Great job PD, keep up the good work

i usually like strong vocal point songs but suddenly this is becoming one of my favourite songs because of the deep lyrics and meaning in mark and taeyong’s lyrics, it showcases lucas’ great rapping skills and voice, doyoungs voice brings everything together
