Nadine is very good and getting better all the time . She can take on the best European divas or dive if you want to use the italian spelling of the word.
Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. On August 24th, 2018, her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, was released under the Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels.

All of the attempts at ‘modernizing’ opera cannot save it from extinction u til the voices are true bel canto. This girls voice is in the fhroat, not in the breathe. She sings what she wants without any respect for what Donizetti composed. She won’t last last, snc neither will opera if it continues like this.
Holy Toledo! Nadine has done it again!!! Her rich, powerful and flexible voice is ideally suited to the role of Lucia. She also dressed beautifully; she's got lovely legs, and her bare feet are oh so gorgeous! (She ought to make a video of her feet!)
Music is nice, voice doesn't help, but great work instead, a work which will be getting better along time. A person who is up the stage deserves a great respect.
Carolina Veno: More likely Horne was going to the same Sierra was singing. Sierra has a hard sound to her voice; there’s nothing soft or lyrical about. I don’t believe Horne would have too complimentary about this voice if she disliked Beverly Sills.
Gorgeous. Gorgous. Probably the most gifted soprano out there in terms of a stunning instrument with endless potential and promise. But she needs more ribcage expansion and less over opening of the mouth. And then the palate space as her resonator, not 50-60% of it being the over mouthing and using too much jaw for volume and “big” vowels. Bad habits that Will be taxing quickly with a career as busy as hers.
This is awesome! I love that your response is so technical. I noticed her ribcage not expanding at all (as well) and am wondering if it is something you can also hear in the voice, or if it just a physical sign of underutilizing support systems? To me, her voice sounds supported (sometimes overly so) but I do notice that she is not taking a very expansive breath. I also enjoyed your comment about her palate space-You can hear that her voice really wants to spread and almost does, and if she sang in a more domed and resonant space, it would be a much more uniform top.
What a stupid production, what happens when Edgardo goes to the fountain to meet her ? and later in the mad scene, when sitting on the table caressing a glass of red wine, does this mean that she’s drinking Arturo,s blood? High time these trendy producers were informed what the text is and made to produce real productions around it. I imagine this rubbish went down like a lead zeppelin with the Venetian public.
Frits Burghardt Incorrect. The modern pronunciation of “silenzio” is three syllables: /siˈlɛn.t͡sjo/, however, great divas of the past have pronounced it as three and four in this aria
Roar roar . It’s all lyric soprano plush and not really clean like coloraturas. When Lucia is sung by lyric sopranos with an extension it’s smeared often. This sounds more like Puccini.
It's a beautiful light voice, maybe too light for Lucia, but clearly the voice itself is better than many famous ones that are around. However, there's some issues: first, her emission is often nasal, then her singing is a bit monotonous; she doesn't bring much with her interpretation; trills are approximate at times and she often uses "H" in legato and coloratura, which can be disturbing. Otherwise, pianissimi are nice, the voice is rich and she portrays a young, girly Lucia; just needs more work. She's very far from the diva image they are trying to push forward.
Nice voice but so boring....and the top notes are a bit flat...and the lows are missing. Like most singers, she only focuses on unwritten high Ds (in this case)....or Eflats. The written score is optional.

Nadine Sierra is a pretty girl with potentially a beautiful voice , but her singing lacks refinement and control . Ordinary singing is not enough for the beautiful arias . I would like to say I enjoy listening to her sing , but I can hardly bear to listen to the end . Not many even GREAT sopranos can compare with Callas or Rosa Ponselle and this girl is as yet nowhere near . She needs a good teacher to take her in hand .
