Dapu Khan Mirasi , the iconic Khamaicha player who performed at Jaisalmer fort, self-composed songs in raag pahadi, rana and malhar. It was a delight for tourists to see him singing, pouring his entire life and soul to every song he mastered! In the amidst sea of sand, Dapu Khan carried a 1500 years old legacy in his powerful soulful music. Here he sings " Chal Udd Jaa Hans Akela" penned down by the great poet and saint Kabir Das.
The Bhajan begins by emphasizing the company of a Guru who is like a wooden stick full of fragrance. Even when the fragrance fades away, the stick retains its charm. It simply refers to the forever greatness of Guru's guidance.
It further states that it's futile to chant and find Kabir. Instead one should learn to control the senses and that way we can conquer Kabir that resides within. It also focuses on the nature of deeds committed. Karma shall pay us accordingly.
The Bhajan projects the materalistic world of humans who are always busy in collecting wealth and satisfying greed. But when the time comes and we are on our deathbed, no riches come to our rescue. We have to take the further journey alone without anyone and anything. We are similar to a lone Hans that need to fly on it's own. This life is nothing but a mere celebration of 2 days, it's short lived, we should not waste it behind useless charms. We all are on our own in this vast world. We should learn to fend for ourselves. Because no one knows what kind of situation may arise. Our palaces and bungalows may not come to our rescue but the wild forest might help.
Enjoy this Kabir Bhajan in the evergreen voice of Dapu ji.
    Vocal & Khamaicha: Dapu Khan

    Translation of the song-
Kabir says, from the ambiance of a saint
Rises the fragrances of his wisdom
    Even when the saint departs
    The fragrance continues to subsist
Kabir says, don’t dwell upon kabir for liberation
Achieve the charge over the five senses
and you will find the Kabir within
Kabir, your hut is near the shed of the butcher
You will get your doing, why are you in distress kabir?
You amassed bits and bits of wealth
to create this heap of riches,
But when the dusk of life will arrive, O seeker
    No riches would help,
the swan will leave all alone,
this life is a fleeting carnival of two days, O seeker,
life is a fleeting carnival of two days
The swan will leave all alone
You dug soils and lands to build these huge palaces,
but when the dusk of life will arrive
    You will rest eternally in a dense forest;
the swan will leave all alone
This life is a fleeting carnival of two days, O seeker,
life is a fleeting carnival of two days
    Kabir says, Listen O seekers,
you came alone in this world,
and have to leave all alone
You came all alone and not live-forever here, listen, O seekers
The swan will leave all alone, O seeker
life is a fleeting carnival of two days
