    FINALLY!! A live TB-303 without buckets of annoying psytrance reverb and delay. Keep it raw, keep it PURE.

    ...and one day while viciously throwing down on his box; he boldly declared: "Let there be house" and house music was born. Then he spilled some acid in the mix and the rest is history.

    This is one of the first videos, I watched in UA-cam in 2007. I still love it! And the TB-303 loves the TR-909 too. ♥️

    I love these machines as they are... no clone, no modification or whatever. I dont get enough from their sounds and this is already for 15 years by now. Roland means pure addiction....

    the dynamic of the CL-Hat accent on a real 909 it's amazing, it has such a distinctive groove, makes you wanna dance!
    Another amazing feature I've noticed on a real 909 is the mixed output, where all the sounds get mixed with some kind of strange (probably cheap) techniques, it really makes a difference over those VST sampled machines.... they sound FLAT! Of course you can try to replicated the 909 mixed output using compressors etc... but it's a lot more complicated.
    Thanks for sharing!

    • @wilmotmusic
      @wilmotmusic 9 років тому +3

      HarmonikelektroniK It looks like the 303 has a blue LED mod, which becomes a bit more apparent when his hand is over the machine. The 909 has red lights on over the pattern and step write buttons; they're just hard to see. Also, the 909 looks to be in slave mode, hence no numerical digits on the screen. All in all, I think it's the poor video quality that makes it hard to see...

    lol...that comment about these being old machines and your response made me laugh. This sounds exactly like a Josh Wink song from back in the early to mid 90's. Now the mystery is gone and we see how easy it is/was to make those tunes from back then...you tube has a good and bad effect at times. The TB sound can be cloned pretty easily in other gear, but the TR909 (analog sounds) not so much. I want a TR909 but not for more than $1300...nice video.

    @RhythmDroid
    I'm with you RD. Im tired to distorted 303's as well.. It sounds best when it's DRY. Well.. almost dry. Some compression / phraser at right doses might give it even "dryer" sound in some circumstances. =)
    There was too much hard acid techno at 90's with distorted TB's and BD's.
    What i LOVE is the oldschool 87-89 Acid House vibe!

    @greendiego777 You need a "midi-to-sync-converter" like the "Doepfer MSY2". 909-Midi-Out into the MSY2, clock-out from the MSY2 into the 303. That's it. For the connection you need two Midi-cables.

  • @aszent
    @aszent  15 років тому

    Hi, I use the Doepfer Midi-to-Sync-Box. I have no problems with it. It works great with ableton. Maybe there's a latency on your Midiclock so check the "Midiclock sync delay" in live's preferences. Maybe this helps..

  • @sitonka303
    @sitonka303 15 років тому

    What do you use to sync the 303? We have real issues with timing when we use the computer as a master. It is like it sends a sys ex message and then starts? Weird! I have this cheap dync/midi sync box that is ok and a doepfer one that was expensive and annoying to use because of the switches on the bottom and crappy manual! Our holy grail would be ableton synced with the old roland gear. Especially the new live 8 with looper! Reckon some improv acid sets would rock with that combination of gear.
