I just bought a marlin 4 which has mechanical discs instead of hydraulic. I think it will do its job well (general round town and road riding)
It arrives in the next couple of days, can't wait!

I own a Marlin 5 . Best purchase I have ever made. I wish the grips and the drivetrain were better though.
Yes the Marlin 5 is definitely a good bike and sure the drivetrain could have been better but for what its priced at , I guess we can only get that much :)

Hey man. Superb video. I'm confused between this and the polygon heist x2. The latter has an altus+acera setup and is just 3k more and a kilo lighter. The trek seems more comfortable to ride though given the slightly thicker tyres but would 100 mm travel be too much for urban roads.

SO I really cannot talk about the Polygon Heist as I haven't had the opportunity to ride that bike.
But coming to the Marlin 5, If you have seen the bike Packing series, you know we put that bike through hell
and it still kept going. its a TANK of a bike and the 100mm travel is alright even on roads.
we literally cycled from India to Bhutan on the Marlin 5 and it performed beautifully.
Plus Trek is a well know brand, I would go for the Marlin 5 but this is just my suggestion :)
Trek Marlin 5 2022 has a lever to lock the shock absorbers. Just turn the lever when riding on city roads.

I am in dilemma between rockrider 540 and trek Marlin 5. Rockrider offers more gears (27)and upgraded set but marlin has 21 . Other things are almost same. Anyways what would you recommend ? Thanks in advance.
Im not sure about the Rockrider as I haven't had the opportunity to ride the bike, however that being said TREK is a much more trusted brand and I personally would go for a TREK bike...but the decision is yours to make :)

Got it today and went on my first ride. Suspension is amazing, the bike feels light and rock solid and it's quite easy to wheelie too :P

However ive heard a lot of good things about the DS models also. tbh u need to decide what you need in a bike and then buy one.
Ive had a lot of fun on the Marlin 5 and its definitely good on road as well as off.

Confused between this and TREK DS 2. I'm a beginner and il be using it mostly for city with occasional off roading but i do have some plans for Himalayas next year. Even DS seems capable for flat offroading but I can't figure out how much better it would be over marlin 5 on the road . Would love to hear your inputs !
Buddy tbh you have to make a choice, It really depends on what your disposition is ...either way TREK makes good sturdy bikes and you will enjoy riding them :)

Im looking to buy a marlin 7 but will mostly ride on roads. I wonder if there is even a point to buying a marlin 7 when I will never go offroads, could just buy a 5 or 6 and spend the rest of the money on some lights and saddle bag etc.
It totally depends on how you want to spend ur money Somesh
But that being said the Trek bikes are built to last and are very sturdy in my opinion.
So you just have to figure what works best for you :)

I am planning to purchase a new bike, I am confused between Trek Marlin 5 and Polygon Premiere 5. In your opinion for which I should go?

Depends on whether you want a 29 inch tyre which trek offers vs the 27.5 inch wheel of polygon. Polygon offers more specs for the price but trek's frame is excellent. Looks are subjective. So it boils down to your choice. Can't go wrong with both.

What about Marlin 4?
Bro planning to get marlin 6. Is extra effort needed during highway touring ? . Please suggest me on your experience
Marlin 6 is a good bike and since it has thicker tyres and slightly heavier than a road bike , yes one would have to put in a bit more effort to ride long distances
but as you've seen , we rode the Marlin 5 from India to Bhutan with bags and we enjoyed it :)

Depends there are many bikes one could get for that price.
But the Marlin 6,7 are good MTBs.
Even the Dual Sport bikes are good...best thing is to go to the Showroom and get a test ride :)

But I have bike packed from India to Bhutan on the Marlin 5 and it was very comfortable...so the Marlin 7 im guessing should be even better :)
Hello, I have also a Trek Marlin 5. Front tires are Bontrager 29x2.20 and back tires are 29x2.10. I want the 29x2.20 on the rear but I am not sure if that works because possible place problems of the derailleur. But I need to know if that will work, at the moment I have only found the 29x2.20 as a replacement part and not the smaller 29x2.10 ones. And I wish a bigger wheel on the back for suspension reasons. Maybe it helps a little bit. I drove with too lessly pressure (1,3 bar) but the tire feels even with this low pressure really hard.
HI Winston, the tyre in the front is a bit larger im guessing to keep it with the geometry of the bike, since you want the centre of gravity to be proper while going downhill especially, putting the same size tyre behind might throw that off, but I could be wrong best bet is to ask someone from the Trek showroom.
You can fit up to a 2.25" tire on the back. That's what I just put on my Marlin 7 which has the same frame.

the more expensive the bicycle the better the components, the build is better and so on.
that's the reason why there's a price range so that one can purchase according to ones budget.
and I've serviced my bikes myself its easy to do, you just have to learn how to do it

I would go for the Marlin 5 as it has 100mm Shock Travel and has Hydraulic disc brakes.

Yes I ride this bike on the roads in Mumbai too, no issues. Test ride the bike and see how you feel but I can only speak for myself when I say ...I love the bike :)

It depends on what you feel comfortable on and like...id suggest going to the Trek dealer in Mumbai and check if they have demo bikes to ride :)

But you need to narrow it down to what you want ...either way the Marlin is a good bike

How do I purchase a Trek Bike in Delhi? I called a dealer and he asked me to pre-book it. He told me it’d take 2 months for it to get delivered.
Hey buddy unfortunately the wait period for delivery of bikes is around 2 months, this is due to the high volume of people placing orders with the dealers.
the bikes companies are trying their best to cater to customers but everyday more people place orders so its hard to keep up with demand especially during theses covid times.
