    Decided to give the Mojo Bass Fly rod combo a well deserved break and whip out the ole Kelly Galloup special in the Bank Robber series. When I use to work in the fly shop at my local Cabela's I kept thinking about picking up one in a 7 wt, but sadly never did since they were over $400. Still a sweet streamer stick, I would imagine. May have to find one on Ebay for a good deal if that is possible.
    Sometimes one has to do a technique that they are not a giant fan of, but works better in the situation they are presented with. Thanks for sharing. Hard to beat smallies on the fly.

    Can't beat some big ol' bronzies on the fly rod man. I've used a swing technique similar here on the Delaware with lots of success! Awesome video man

    Loved it! Realistically it seems like a more natural approach. By the way I want that house lol

    Gunnar, I was thinking of picking up a Bank Robber in 5wt for juvenile Tarpon, small snook etc.Do you think it would cast small deceivers and ep baitfish and maybe small gurgles in 1/0, 2 , 4 ?

      Appreciate it Mikko! They are my favorite, especially since they are mostly ignored in my area by the local fisherman...almost always have the water to myself, which is often what I'm most interested in.

    Good stuff, Gunnar. I saw on a post that you don't commercially tie anymore. Are you guiding at all?

    • @Gunnar_Brammer
      @Gunnar_Brammer  5 років тому +1

      No longer tying commercially, but I still get to travel about and teach which is very cool and by far my favorite aspect! Not guiding at the moment although I hope a raft is in my future, in which case I'll likely do a handful of trips a year on this local stretch of river....but nothing is set in stone. It is definitely something I aspire to do if time and resources allow.

    Can you show how the fly swims ?

    I have a 7wt rod, what is your complete setup? Sinking or floating fly line, leader and tippet size? Also what size hooks are using? Sorry I'm new to this, great video.

      Here I'm fishing a 6wt St. Croix Bank Robber. Rio's Outbound Short in a Sink 3. 4 ft of tippet total with 2ft of 20lb, and 2ft of 12lb Saltwater Monofilament. Hooks are an Ahrex TP610 in sz. 1/0

    Awesome video! One question... what pack are you using... it looks great...

    • @Gunnar_Brammer
      @Gunnar_Brammer  5 років тому +1

      It's not designed for fly fishing but it has better storage and is far more comfortable and durable than anything else I've tried. www.fleetfarm.com/detail/red-rock-outdoor-gear-rover-coyote-sling-pack/0000000234494?bc=10276|10353|10361

    I noticed you roll casting it out there. Do you ever use any of the short skagit heads for single handers? I’d be interested in your opinion on them.

    • @Gunnar_Brammer
      @Gunnar_Brammer  5 років тому +1

      This is (for me) an atypical approach, I usually overhead cast towards the bank, but for this whole this was the better presentation. I'm fishing a Rio Outbound Short line (which is an aggressive integrated shooting head line) which runs 235 gr. with a short compact 30ft head - a typical Skagit head for a 6 wt. is between 225 to 250, but would be a bit more compact, and thus more dense. If I get the chance to check them out I'll make sure to share some thoughts on them.

    • @Gunnar_Brammer
      @Gunnar_Brammer  5 років тому +1

      Agreed, but its been a staple for far longer than most rods on the market. Looking forward to seeing what they replace it with. The Imperial Salt coming out this November looks to be the bees knees as far as streamer sticks go. Looking forward to that one big time!

    I see this is just a teaser for the tying video you have coming in a month or two. I wondered why I had never heard of this fly, now I know. Looking forward to the tying video. Keep up the good work. Are you coming to any Michigan shows this fall/winter?
