- Before the MOD plain police want to throw a shit fit and knock on my door again, this video was taken many years ago and proof of this is in the form of the date it was originally uploaded on another channel, so really boys dont waste your petrol.
Anyhow you should know that for "most" of the year when the red knickers are flying on the plain you arent meant to be there because of lots of ways you can blow yourself up and general tantrums that say that the military can have vehicles and drones there but you arent allowed to. So take this as some form of warning.
The pipeline is for testing flares along I am told. The bigger pipe is for troops to practice in. This area is known for weapons testing and has warnning XRAYS signs around it. If someone is home you will definately know it.

5:34 this "tunnel" is a actually a pipe rifle range - the red end is the backstop area (where the targets are placed).
Pipe ranges have much reduced sound signature and are safer from a stray shot point of view. Some pipe ranges only have the first few metres enclosed in a pipe (or even an oildrum) to reduce the sound only. This one is full length so training can take place while the adjacent area is in use too.
Just watched the whole vid now I've had time, 2:58 is probably a 100m pipe range too. There's a design doc for these ranges somewhere on the net, pretty sure they call them "tube ranges" in that doc though.

@@terrylear4219 Go on google earth and type in Wormbridge or Pontrilas, Herefordshire and take a peek where the SAS have a plane for practicing hijack scenarios.They also hold some of the driver training and have a dirt bike track there. I used to love watching them train.
