Some of ELO Part 2's original stuff was good - especially Thousand Eyes, but what the band really achieved was taking the ELO hits out on the road and playing them really well, which kept those tunes in the public eye and ear. The winner was Jeff Lynne as his tunes got continued exposure.
It's such a shame that the rift between Jeff Lynne and those ex ELO members who embarked on Part 2 seems beyond resolution. We have now lost Kelly, Hugh and Richard from the classic ELO 7. Time is running out for a reconciliation. No one lives forever. I live in hope of Jeff picking up the phone to Bev and putting past disagreements behind them both. Highly unlikely. But you never know.

Jeff left in '86 after the Balance Of Power Tour and other members (Kelly, Bev, Mik & Louis) made the ELO Part 2 as a way to continue the band.

Jeff was producing music, ELO part 2 was a flop. Bev Beavan owned 1/2 the rights to the band name. But Jeff owned the other half and didnt approve of ELO 2. Jeff wrote and owned all the songs and got paid for use of the songs and got part of the live shows box office for a version of the band he never took part in, hence there wasnt much money to make. Eventually Bev gave up and sold his 1/2 to Jeff. It was strange throughout all this they remained friends to some degree, Jeff is a really nice guy.

@@markp8581 Jeff & Bev haven't spoken to each other in over 30 years according to Bev. That's one of the reasons why Bev didn't attend the induction of ELO in the Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame.

@@Hayden1969-ws4vy Thats not true, I recently watched an interview with Bev and he says they have managed to keep the personal and professional relationship separate. Bev said whenever a part 2 show was scheduled he would notify Jeff because promoters would always imply Jeff was part of it and he had no control over promotion that Jeff need to take legal action again.
