I've been into Tama ever since i was in high school. Thought Tama was only one but there are ao many good brands out there. Good heads and good tune job are the key, your kit sounds great , like your playing as well
Glenn, I really enjoy your videos. Smooth and tasteful playing and a great sound! What are your thoughts about the Broadkaster, the Brooklyn, and the USA Custom kits? Which one do you like the most, or what sets them apart, in your opinion? I´ve owned different USA Custom kits from different eras and still have one set, and I recently purchased a Broadkaster set that I love, but I'm still getting to know them (e.g., they respond differently to tuning, heads, and rooms). However, I haven´t played or even heard the Brooklyn's in person. According to the videos, they sound phenomenal, very warm and resonant. Thank you!
Hey thank you Juan, I really appreciate that. It’s so hard to tell with all the different variables. And to be honest if I had a blind test of a USA and a Brooklyn, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t tell the difference. I more think of them as the USA and Brooklyn being a similar sound while the Broadkaster is a little different. Just like you though, I’m still getting to know them. I find it takes years to really settle down with a kit. So I’m just hanging back and enjoying the journey 😁 One thing I will say, is they all have a Gretsch sound, and I know people say that all the time, but there is definitely a specific Sound linked to these three series of drums. I hope that helps. Hit me up if I can answer any other questions 👍
Sounds so good Glenn ! I don't know if you agree, but it seems the Brooklyns will work better than the Broadkasters if you are looking for a more open sound and a wider tuning range. I feel the Broadkaster shells are a bit more tricky when it comes down to tuning and heads selection also.
@@GlennWilsonDrums nice. I just started using them a few weeks ago after using Vic Firth 5B for many years. I’m really liking the Rebounds. I also use Gretsch. I have a Catalina Maple from 2009. Great playing by the way!
Absolutely stellar groove and playing. That kit especially the snare sound amazing.
Thanks for checking it out! 🙏
Got the Brooklyn singing, buttery smooth playing. Really nice
Cheers! Thanks for watching! 🙏
Those drums sound phenomenal! The Glyn Johns technique works so well. Very nice playing also.
Thanks a lot! Yeah i love the minimal mic thing 👍
Beautiful sound and playing 🔥
Cheers Sean! 🙏
Nice! Some of the best sounding drums I've ever heard!! Fantastic playing too!!
Cheers Brad 👍 Really digging your channel. Love that we have the vintage Superstars in common 👊

Any size, any tuning. I'm constantly amazed by the sound of Brooklyn kits.
Yeah man, totally agree. I'm still getting to know them but they are wonderful to play 👍
Beautiful! 👏

Yeah I think you are right 👍. The Broadkasters have a narrower sweet spot. I still need to get to know these drums better, it takes a while 🤷♂️
Great sound all the way. Can you tell us exactly which Evans heads that you are using? There are so many Evans choices. Thanks.
Sure thing. These are Evans UV2’s on the batter side of the Tom’s. Reso heads are G1’’s. The snare is a UV1 👍
Thank you for your response. Interesting.
LOVE GRETSCH...TO BAD THEY'VE BEEN SOLD..😢😢😢

Reminiscent of Bonzos Montreux

What do you mean by open Tuning? No muffling and toms tuned high ?
Exactly! 👍 but you’re right it’s probably not the best way to say it. Maybe jazz tuning?
@@GlennWilsonDrums Maybe you tuned the kit D A D F# ? 😆
What Promark sticks are you using? Firegrain, what model?
It’s the 5B rebound firegrain 👍

@@Mari000 Thanks 🙏 Yeah i really like the rebound. I also use the forward version if I’m playing stuff a bit heavier 👍 Catalina’s are great kits!
@@GlennWilsonDrums yes the Catalinas have served me well. I tried using the 747B but they were a bit too heavy for my liking.
👍
