So a few things for some people using this video as a guide. The pan bolts require 70 in/lb of pressure and they are required to be put on in a certain order. Search for that in a Nissan service manual. You also need to flush out about 5 quarts of of fluid from the CVT torque converter and CVT fluid warmer. Do this by disconnecting the line coming from the radiator into the warmer and run the car to pump out about 1-2 quarts at a time until the fluid runs clear. The CVT warmer, with the paper filter being replaced, is shown at 9:28. The entire trans holds about 8 quarts. Some people have asked what the last step is for... That second drain plug is how you determine if the trans has enough fluid in it when the fluid temperature is about 113 to 120 degrees F (about 45 C) . Notice he added fluid until it ran out of that hole and then waited until it was slowing streaming out. Once the fluid is slowing streaming out of that hole the fluid level is good.

this procedure is prob a bit much for most, the easier route is to take out plug, drain in a measured container then fill up what you lost with fresh ns3, this will then mix with the rest of the fluid in the sealed transmission box and you're effectively refreshing by about 50%. If you wanted later after the old and new ns3 mixed, you could repeat the process and achieve a 75% refresh.

I bought mine used, a couple of weeks ago. The first thing a friend of mine asked, who is a mechanic, was how many miles does it have on it. I told him 50k. He said i needed to do a drain and fill. Not a flush. Of course, I'm gonna change the filters too. So, I started looking around. Everything I read said between 30k and 60k it needs done. Honestly, I see no point in changing the fluid of you don't change the filters also.

Hello, please if you can help me with a question, I have a 2017 maxima, yesterday I went to buy transmission oil and they sold me "castrol transmax import multi-vehicle" which I already put in my vehicle, now I did This since I was checking the fluids of my car and I noticed that it did not even mark on the dipstick, now I just found out that my vehicle originally came only with the dipstick cover but not with the full dipstick because it has a new technology that uses less oil, without knowing I added 1/4 of a gallon of castrol oil, my question is: will I have any problem? What do you recommend me to do? It is worth mentioning that as you will know, the car has a cvt transmission and the castrol oil is not specifically cvt, thank you in advance for your help.

If this car is still running take it to a mechanic right away and tell him what you did, show him the bottle of oil you put in and then ask him to do it properly using the right fluid... I think you mean the castrol oil is a transmission fluid meant for Automatic transmissions with gears instead of a CVT. You should definitely use the proper CVT fluid for that transmission, since not doing so could damage it prematurely. Go to a mechanic that you trust, preferably one that has worked on CVTs before, and get him to flush and fill it with the proper fluid. Better yet, show him the fluid you put in it and let him work on it, DONT drive it anymore than you absolutely need to
Well clearly it’s sealed but it’s no different than any other component within your engine. 1. Oil (SEALED) 2. Air box (SEALED) 3. Fluid’s such as power steering, engine oil, coolant etc (SEALED) … You get it. In short YES the CVT is in fact sealed up but you can see here all you have to do is remove the cover.

shocking how many videos I seeo f people not wearing gloves - at all- when coming in contact with fluids and oils and cleaners when working on cars. I just did this job yesterday, and I had gotten some of the NS3 in my glove and my skin burned and I washed that shit off immediately.

Actually i have changed this gear pan 3 times on my altima 2013. Cause it gets hit on the ground. Altima 2013 doesnt have a cover like what this car have which protects the pan from being hit. Worst design nissan.... wasted alot of money for this crap

That is a great way to refresh fluid. Only down side of it is no new strainer and warmer filter

Actually i have changed this gear pan 3 times on my altima 2013. Cause it gets hit on the ground. Altima 2013 doesnt have a cover like what this car have which protects the pan from being hit. Worst design nissan.... wasted alot of money for this crap

Honestly, if you need him to describe everything he's doing in a video filmed in HD, then you really shouldn't be opening up a CVT transmission.

Short of that, stay away from that voice, that's giving you confidence for opening technically a non serviceable CVT transmission.
