What are the rules when the ball hits the ref like that? Never seen that happen before, right in front of goal too.
From what I know, the umpire is "part" of the pitch so nothing really happens

It didn't block the goal, it was going wide. Therefore just play on

Why is the ump in front of the goal? Almost the 1st thing you learn when umping is not to stand in front of the goal
He wasn't you tool he was beside it. Proper positioning for the umpire when its coming down the other side of the field is to step out into the field of play.

Sorry for Belgium at the end otherwise both teams played their best.
i think the current Belgium team on wane now..first against India and now against England..
India is one of the strongest team in the league
Half of Belgian's team is either way out of shape or simply getting old and slow. They are starting to play like their woman's team: slow, predictable and without ideas. And for all their experience, they still can't take decent shootouts. Lost to India, now to England...

Also India just drawed against the Netherlands. And to go back to your first comment, the Belgian women are a young exciting team, you'll see in the future.
