Lick #1 is classic Yngwie. He does it in literally every song. That's definitely his trademark build tension and take a break from shredding move lol.
:)
I play only the difficult parts of Yngwie Malmsteen.
Haha :D
Nice job! BUT, it would help immensely if you had the camera directly in front of you, not at an angle, when showing left hand runs, so us viewers could see the exact fret fingerings more easily.
That's why you have ears 😊 I know it's a chore, but it's really beneficial. Besides, that would mean moving the camera, and that's just way too much work 🤣
I can play yngwies stuff ...in my dreams lol
Great lesson! Nice licks to get started with Malmsteen.
Glad you liked it!
For lick #2 a great way to ease into that sort of lick or run, check out Rainbow's Death Alley Driver. From the Straight Through the Eyes album. Check how Blackmore starts the solo.
Thanks for the tip :)
The start of that solo is actually a paraphrase of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor (transposed to A minor in this case).
Sir your vedio focus not good ...can bearly see
Yngwie was the first one to explain why diminished arpeggios work so well with harmonic minor...and it's so obvious when you see it. The 7th sharped tone is the same 1 1/2 step stretch as the diminished arpeggio.
do u have any tips on how to sound like Yngwie in specific to how he uses the wammy bar? I love how he has that flutter effect even tho he has that 6 screw trem
Not really. Sorry.
Always love your lessons & playing, Elmo! Rock on! 👍 🎸
Glad you like them!
Need tab bro, wtf
👍😀🎸☕👈
I like the easyish👍🎸
👍
1) How do I make my amp sound like Yngwie ? Thank You . 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb
Which amp?
@@MrPolevaulter 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb - New . Eric Clapton Stratocaster - OCD Pedal . I have many Malmsteen Tablature Books . Videos etc . I'm 61 retired but still learning . 🏄♂️🏄♂️🎸🍷✨✨✨✨🍁 Canada
@@trevorgwelch7412 hi trevor i have that same amp, just get the fender yngwie overdrive pedal, or the dod yjm 308, or the old dod 250 but those are exepensive man
I have one his old signature guitars with dimarzio pick ups, he uses seymour duncan pick ups now days but if you have a strat and either one of those pedals you should sound close to his sound
majority of the time ....is YM in neck pick up mode?
Sorry? Not sure I understand.
@@MrPolevaulter sorry....i mean you are playing this vid LEAD with neck position
I have never paid much attention to what pup position malmsteen uses on his leads ...is it mainly neck position is what i meant ......
he gets great tone in his leads -and his rhythm for that matter ....i am not a huge fan of his....but i think he might just have the perfect tone - which i think in hindsight , has more than a bit of Blackmore economy of overdrive ....anyway ...great vid , greetings from melbourne australia !
Haa.....I can play anything Yngwie can play....when he was five. Elmo, you are such a great player you could take something simple and make it sound totally hard, no really, I mean that as a compliment! Oh and when you cry over making a mistake, I'm crying crocodile tears right with you.....yep I'm jealous. I am waiting for someone to transpose Debussy's "Gardens in the Rain" for electric guitar, hopefully it will be me 😀, nice job and great examples, Bruce.
Haha :D Thanks man. I really appreciate that :)
Wow great guitar player and great licks my friend but still doesnt sound like yngwie malmsteen on your guitar tone, you have a lot of pedals overdrive malmsteen signature and you have a malmsteen guitar signature as well but still doesnt sound like yngwie malmsteen.....anyway you are a really good guitar player..cheers
Thanks! I don't want it to sound exactly like him. I use a different cab and speakers for instance.
Было бы круто достичь такого уровня игры! Вечером попробую, вдруг получится. 🤘😀
О, круто! Number two получается, только очень медленно. Пол года тренировки и я достигну половины твоей скости😄
Finns speaking English almost sound Irish in places...interesting.
:D
Tab? how is anyone showing licks now a days without showing the tab. ??
I did made two simple licks on one or two strings. I need more of this to improve max speed, especially my right. I want to play Bark at the moon, Demon Driver, I'll see the light tonight with right hand. Target for simple licks is 400 picksperminute. ppm next ;-)
For now I did make it a little bit easier to improve max speed 🙂
Excellent Lesson ---- But I Need Tab , I Wasn't born with Perfect Pitch . Stay Cool Bro 🎸✨🥇☮️
Thanks! You don't need perfect pitch.
@@MrPolevaulter Thank You Ok
Hi..fret board, scalloped is that what they call that?
Yep.
great content! cheers!
Very good Yngwie stuff, thanks!
And thank you 😊
4:24 part souns like the ending part of Stratospher - Stratovarius :D ...Cheers from Mexico! Thanks a Lot, Bro!
Thank you too!
" Very Special Job on this ( vdc ) Istructional Play Guitar Style Y. M. ". .. So' Nice ... ☺😊😀/💙💙💙/👍👌👏👋
Thanks!
The opening to Stronghold is easy if you're a beginner. Not Yngwie shredding but hey its something
True.
Hi..thank you sir,I just noticed your neck fretboard is not flat,is that the case, I'm always focused on what your fingers are doing?
Yeah, it's scalloped.
Are you based in Finland?
Imma guess that with his skills, he's pretty B A S E D everywhere
Yep.
@@MrPolevaulter where about sin Finland ? Do you do lessons?
First lick is the opening of the fire solo too
Cool :)
What’s your signal chain with that plexi Elmo? You put delay in the fx loop or in front?
In the loop.
Duds awsome I just subscribed. !!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thank you!
Excellent man, thanks a lot...!!!
Cheers from germany.
No worries!
all of them are easy. the problem is to play them fast :D
Haha :D True :)
do you recommend making sort of a fist while holding the pick for more power and stability or do you suggest keeping the idol fingers loose? not been able to find a proper solution to this problem of mine
I'm not sure. Personally I recommend doing what comes naturally, and not overanalysing stuff. If you have trouble with something, then you need to think about it obivously. I'd probably not recommend a proper fist though. Doesn't strike me as relaxed.
Watch Troy Grady. The guy breaks down picking semantics like no one else from every shred king you can think of
Kiitti mestari noist likeistä🤗 hyvä käyttää lisämausteena..omissaki soolois jne.🎸🎶🎶🎶
Kiitos :)
Killer video.
Love it. That first pyrigian scale I will have to practice. The third one I use myself. Love that seventh I think it is that makes the harmonic minor. Love it. I don't know modes. At all really, but I do understand the theory behind it, but I'm a blues rock guy and 99.999999 percent of my playing and even when I giggled was playing blues based music because that was what paid. I do play guitar for myself, and hope others like it, but use my ear and just figure out what I want to play. Have done so since about 77. 😀
That baroque and roll lick is hard to do fast. Man, dammit. Now I have to practice tonight. You've stirred my guitar craving. 🤣
Great video sir. Be safe my friend! Is it possible to use string skipping instead of sweeping those arpeggios?
If it sounds good, you can do it :)
Take care man!
@@MrPolevaulter Thanks brother. Going to try that versus the sweeping which I seem to suck at. 🤣
5:45 hey That Guy, are you sure your thumb is not double jointed?
Nope.
Elmo my God so good !your sound is like 1 delay ?
1 delay, yes.
Thank you for these great tips! Blessings to you!
Glad it was helpful!
On that diminished sweep Yngwie sweeps 3 down in a row...
Ok.
love ur using the scalloped frets
it’s a scalped fretboard- Frets cannot be scalloped
Any video about ur gear pedal and amp?
A few. There's one: ua-cam.com/video/EZnFm7SFKB4/v-deo.html&t=
I'm planning on doing a video on my pedalboard, and I use the Marshall 1987x, so you can look for my videos on that.
How to Kick a pick with precision and panache ?!?
YT ate my better comment 🤣
YT is hungry :D
Finnish have complicated names like Indians. I will visit your country Finland one day. I always wanted to go there for vacation.
Welcome :)
ok not to present tabs but at least film the slow demonstrations with a frontal camera view
Use your ears. It's really beneficial.
@@MrPolevaulter So your saying you deliberately changed the camera angle so we don't see the notes played and we are forced to solely use our ears? Come on man, that's just lame.
@@genustinca5565 It was a joke. I didn't come to think of the whole thing.
Great lesson Elmo!!
Thank you very much :)
Hi! I know that I'm not asking a question on the topic of the video) please tell me which amplifier is better/more versatile dsl 20 or 6505mh ? Does it make sense to buy a big head ? Thanks))
I like both, but I'd probably pick the 6505.
@@MrPolevaulter why?)
Brilliant stuff ... every day is a learning day 👍
Cheers!
YOU ARE EASY MAN I ALWAYS LOVE YOUR PLAYING 💙🇫🇮💙
Kiits :)
I think I heard some Uli Jon Roth snuck in there at the end...
Not really. Haven't really listened to him.
@@MrPolevaulter as an Yngwie fan, you should :)
Too many people ignoring the great UJR.
No tabs = dislike. What I do have need to waste more time on this I will practice it non stop for hours after choosing? Absolutely ridiculous
Yes I played all examples really fast just to annoy you.
All Yngwie licks are easy. He plays the same few very basic patterns over and over. Not easy-ish. Just easy.
