    How do you find the weight hand held?

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  Рік тому

      I personally don’t think its that bad but I have a preference for a heavier setup than most. I will say, no matter who you are, if you’re rocking a 15lb+ rig for a 10hr day of all handheld, it’s going to get tiring.

    I have the 11-20 and love it. What budget alternative lens do you think will pair well? Sigma or Canon? Or do you think the Tokina photo lenses are good too.

    • @joenicklo

      I pair Canon RF zooms with the Tokina lenses on a regular basis and they're a decent match.

    Great review.

      I shoot on a lot of different cameras, as of right now, the RED Komodo is my A-Cam BUT....to answer your question, I like shooting on the Z Cam due to its form factor and overall bang for the buck. The F6 is amazing in low-light as well. Rigging the Z Cam is a lot cleaner and more....ergonomic than say a Blackmagic Pocket camera.

    Thanks for this review! Not so many people talking about Tokina so very helpful.
    I’m in the middle of research for my first cinema lens… Thinking buying Tokina 25-75mm and 50-135mm or DZO 20-55mm and 50-120mm for black magic mini ursa 12k. Can you recommend which might be better? Tokina is a bit more expensive but I don’t mind paying more for better lens…

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  2 роки тому +2

      I would go with the Tokinas over the DZO pair. For one, you get more range with the Tokinas, and I personally feel they have an overall better look. That's personal preference though.
      Tokina also has a lot more time in the industry and they have great customer service.
      That being said, I do like both. The value you get with the DZO's is hard to ignore. Have you seen my review on the DZO's yet?

    Newbie question but what is :”open gate” on a camera ?

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  3 роки тому +3

      Open Gate means you're shooting with the entire sensor. For example, 6064x4040 is the sensor size in pixels of the E2-F6. That's Open Gate. If you shoot in 6K UHD 16:9, the pixel size is actually 5760x3240.
      So essentially, when shooting at 6K UHD, you're cropping in on the sensor. The benefit to shooting Open Gate is, you have the flexibility of cropping or adjusting your frame in post.
      When you're shooting Open Gate, you're not shooting with the goal of your final output being that resolution, you're framing your shots with your final output's aspect ration in mind. This where you'd want to use frame guides.
      Hope this helps.

      Hell yeah, you're gonna love the lens. I'm definitely considering buying it at some point. I currently own the 11-20 Tokina and a Tokina Vista 35mm but to be honest, the 25-75 is such a good lens I'm considering switching the 35mm Vista out for it.
