Join Jazz St. Louis as we salute the iconic and hugely influential master drummer Art Blakey. Blakey’s Jazz Messengers quickly became the “University of Hard Bop,” ushering the best young musicians into the jazz world, armed with a heavy dose of swing. Spearheaded by East St. Louis’s own Montez Coleman on drums, this all-star group includes Ben Reece on saxophone, Danny Campbell on trumpet, Bob DeBoo on bass, and Adaron “Pops” Jackson on piano.
