Read a forum about our trucks which mine is a 2014 Ram 2500 6.7 , and after replacing the 4wd actuator and transfercase actuator and cleaning the tipm nothing worked. Come to find out, it was my driver side abs wire. Abs light was on, and I didn't think it would completely stop the truck from going into 4wd. After fixing the wire, it worked as it should and have not had any problem sense.
Great video!! Simple, to the point, clear procedure, and no grandstanding. Was debating on taking my 2015 3500 to dealer for repair. Watched a lot of videos before yours and that's when I decided I could do it myself. It really was a simple swap. So far problem solved. Exactly how youtube diy videos should work!!😎😎 Biggest issue was getting that dang electrical clip off!🥵🥵
Thanks for the video. I think you’ve solved my problem. Light came on the other day, and I got stuck this morning in my back pasture. Yanked it out with my tractor and found your video soon after. Part ordered. Appreciate the help!
I imagine so! We’ve been getting rain non stop for several days down here in east texas. I knew better than to drive back there but wanted to see how much water was running. Cold wet walk back to the tractor shed lol.
Replaced mine with one from Amazon. First one failed in less than 400 miles And then I got smarter about it. Make sure and inspect the two case halves where the electronics card resides connected to those for electronic pins. If your Amazon model does not have black RTV around the 2case halves sealing it together It will fill up with water I guarantee it. The OEM has black RTV all the way around it. Some of these knockoff ones, are absolutely just fine but they do not have black RTV sealant to ensure the seal around the electronics board. There is zero chance that they will not get water in them because the two case has do not seal tightly on their own just with those retaining clips built into the case halves. I sprayed the entire outside of my replacement part with rustoleum rubber aerosol waterproofing spray. Like the stuff you can spray on a roof or non-pressurized water pipe to create a waterproof seal. Three coats of that 30 minutes apart each and now I have a 100% hermetically sealed device. There is no heat build up in this box so I'm not one bit concerned about the electronics overheating for any reason at all.
This worked great thank you for video and the recommendation of putting truck on a slope that worked awesome the OEM part they quoted me 558 I picked one up off Amazon for 91
Thanks for the info, was about drive 1800 miles and the light came on, but truck is solid. I was worried of 4wd was give up but feel strong I can fix it. I Now know is something small because light is gone. Everything is working, will due the drive. Thanks
Great video and I just put a new 4 wheel drive front drive shaft on my 2010 3500 mega cab dually 6.7 cummins because its old one was bad and it goes into 4 wheel drive perfect and out of 4 wheel drive perfect but keeps saying 4 wheel drive service
FANTASTIC video, thanks for it. I have just this past week had this Serv 4WD come on and thought it might be a built in reminder to change differential and transfer case fluids. Now I know. I am a fairly good DIY mechanic and do what I can myself. You just saved me a lot of $$$. Enjoy your Ram.
Great video. Mine works fine. But it is slowly leaking. I have been reading online i can not just buy the gasket and part number is discontinued? Thinking i will have to RTV it
It's literally 4 10 mms and a plug?? Sweet. I am gonna get an extra one to keep in my crossbox lest another go when I am out elk hunting in the middle of nowhere. Cheers.
Thank you very much for posting this along with the link! Well done sir. How's it holding up and have you been using the four-wheel drive on and off throughout the time that you replaced?
I didn't pull any codes. My 4x4 quit working, and the dash light was on, so I just replaced it. It was quick, easy, and inexpensive. I have had no issues since the installation, and I used 4x4 a lot today on un-plowed snow-covered roads.
Do you have the lever on the floor board or the dial switch on the dash? There is a plastic linkage piece that can fail if you have the lever on the floor. That would leave it stuck in 4x2 or 4x4 if it broke. I'm not sure if the actuator can fail in the 4x4 position unless it was a mechanical failure vice an electrical one.
The solenoid can fail just because. Mine didn't break while I was in 4x4. I needed 4x4 one day, and it never would engage. So technically, it failed while not using it.

Quick and easy fix, and mine has been working great so far. Lots of use during this winter here in Wisconsin.

Let me know how that goes. Mine is weeping and thinking I will have to do the same
What are the torque specs for the bolts?
I put mine in N everytime I switch to 4. Easier on it when it engages least that’s what my gpa told me.
Hi sweetie ❤️
got the actuator - forgot the gasket... wonder if I can use the original...? or if any auto part store has it?
Any redirect reference part? Amazon says it’s discontinued.

Easy installation if you have a hill too. Not a bad idea to have an extra.
@TC Sawmills Think I will put driver side only up on a ramp. Thanks
again for very helpful video.
That's a great idea
Did you have a check engine light when this part went bad? I get a check engine light saying it’s break pedal switch and constantly get serv 4wd
I think this is the problem with mine, but I can't find this part for a 2012
Thank you very much for posting this along with the link! Well done sir. How's it holding up and have you been using the four-wheel drive on and off throughout the time that you replaced?
Works great now for over a year, no issues. I use 4x4 quite often.
Nice video , doing this next week. When are you going to manual swap that thing? Lol
Is that always what the service 4 wheel drive is
Thank you my friend!!!!!!!!!!
No problem
Great video

Light just came in tonight. Wont shift into 4x4 did you pull a code before replacing?

@@TCSawmills TY Buddy
Did your tryck start? Mine dont start. Do you think that might fix my problem?
LOLOL.. if you think the 4x4 module is going to help with truck not starting problem it might be time to sell.. just sayin..
Is that fluid from the differential?
Yes
Muffler bearings
My 4x4 is stock on but my dash says its on 4x2 transfer case axel moves could this be the case ?

Can It still go out if you not using 4×4¿?
The solenoid can fail just because. Mine didn't break while I was in 4x4. I needed 4x4 one day, and it never would engage. So technically, it failed while not using it.
What's the part name?
How’s the part held up over time?
Works great. I use 4x4 quite often and no issues
Did the issue go away?
