I remember my brother and his friends took dried out angel trumpets years ago. It gives you negative acid like hallucinations and they actually grew around the corner from our house. Dude. You need to beef up your research and fact checking. Ephedra is a stimulant, not a psychedelic. Soma is thought to have combined ephedra, cannabis, and opium, all of which were and are relatively common in central asia and the northwest part of the Indian subcontinent. Russian archaeologists working in Turkmenistan found carts as described in the Vedas, along with earthenware used to make Soma that contained traces of cannabis, ephedra, and opium.
Bhang isn't made from Datura, it's an edible form of cannabis, largely made from the leaves and used in food, especially bhang lassi, which is basically a cannabis yogurt shake. Bhang is a weaker form of cannabis, relative to smoking weed or harsh, unless you make the lassi really strong. Then it's like having a strong weed brownie.

I will definitely recommend to read the 29th chapter of chikithsa sthana of Sushruta Samhita which exclusively describing somapana (drinking soma). I prefer Sushruta samhita since the vedic literature is much more difficult understand because of its grammar and interpretation is much more complicated. So what those hymns say is really hard to understand. Being more easy to understand we may be relay on more understandable sources. Sushruta Samhita the one major text of Ayurveda, which follows the vedic rituals in somapana. But if you go through that chapter you can see things that may not be so easy or an enjoyable one like a "good trip" as the majority believes!
I've get enough simply from the medication I take. I have cerebral palsy so I take muscle relaxers and antispasmodics. I also take medicines for nausea and allergies, both make me feel dopey.

Soma was supposedly taken by Viking beserkers, which they caused numerous amounts of pain and death. This pretty much proves that taking drugs that mess with the mind is a bad idea. Anything that allows a person to harm others is not a good thing. And, mental illness can be linked to people who have gotten mental illness from drugs.

I’m pretty sure God doesn’t want me to get high in order for me to have a relationship with Him. Anything that distorts your way of thinking is considered a drug no matter how you look at it. And just because people have experimented with plants (that God has put here)and found that they are stimulating, doesn’t mean He wants you to get high. He wants you to come to Him as you are in sound mind and body.
