Thanks for the review! I have just bought this in the regular size and despite being 6ft 2 I still find it ok when lying down, and can just about sit up. Managed to get it with Alpkits bank holiday voucher so came in at under £100 so a bargain I think. Looking forward to using it on my first trip!
I was bikepacking this weekend with a friend who owns this. She loved it. Just the right size for her. She’s 5’2” and a size 10. I have the Alpkit Ordos 2 and that was a better size personally, especially to house my panniers and bike kit and sleep comfortably.
Have it . Love it. Used it to complete the C2C in the UK. Damp outer overnight was never an issue. I stayed dry and toasty. Great value. I paid 110. Carried the poles IN my bag and soft bits strapped to the side.
Great review Ceri. This tent has got a lot going for it. Alpkit have an XL version as well. At the moment I am very much torn between the XL version and the Sierra Designs Clip 3000 - It is heavier but more roomy. All the best.
Cheers, I appreciate that 🤙🏾 Yes while the Alpkit is fairly light, there isn't too much space, especially for lots of luggage etc. I don't have any personal experience with the Sierra Designs Clip I'm afraid, but I guess it depends on how much you value space vs weight!
Thanks for this review. Although I am only 5 feet 7 inches, I went for the extra large, so I could store all my kit inside. I camped out in the Pentland Hills last night, and fitted my clothes, rucksack in the body of the tent, and my boots in the porch. Might have struggled to this in the standard size.
Thanks pal, great review. I'm thinking of getting one but ditching the inner, and using it as needed over my bivvy bag. I like the head room and the front entrance would work well for that purpose. Have you ever tried that? Cheers!
I bought this tent a few months ago, and used it for a stopover in the Lake District. It’s a great tent but it’s a shame their isn’t a small internal pocket for your valuables.
Need inside pockets.. 30pence buys you a small mesh bag, sold in many supermarkets for your veg and fruit purchases. Use needle and thread to sew this onto the inner tent side wall. You can have as many lightweight pockets as you want. Simple and cheap solution!
I’ve had a look at one in Alpkit Hasersage and the only problem for me is the door. I want to be able to vent from the top when cooking in poor weather...if Alpkit are reading...please make the zips two-way, might add 100g of weight but I would then buy it.
Not sure when 5’8” became short. For my generation that was normal. 5’6” to 5’10”. The odd 6 footer. Lol. Regardless, you fit in every tent, bed, plane, car etc. and you look taller. Thanks for the tent breakdown. Nice to see that tunnel style but freestanding.
Greetings from the USA! I think this tent is looking quite killer. Hopefully we can offer our tent globally soon. As far as we know, we are the only tent on Amazon that weighs less than 3 lbs, is freestanding, and only costs $99. All other freestanding tents either cost more, or are heavier than 3lbs. See you on the trails!
Inner first usually produces a tent with better tension and resistance to wind and rain. But if it’s unfortunately rainy when you are pitching you have to be bloody quick.
Good question and something I used to think about a lot when I first started. I think over time you become more confident, and I find that especially when I'm wild camping that I often wake up fairly easily (normally just wind or animal noises!). Some people like to lock their bike to a tree etc or tie the guy rope through the bike so that they will hear if someone is trying to take it.
just take a wheel off and stick that in the tent or get a bike tent not many people are going to try carrying a bike away with one wheel missing can always camo the bike in a bush or long grass too
@@CeriMiddleton it's badly designed the inner ones under the porch door which means every drip falls straight I the I need and it's virtually impossible to taken down without getting the inner wet from condensation on the outer and putting it up in the rain well forget it

Glad you found it useful! Ah that's great, and good to know you find the regular size fine! Hope you have some great adventures with it 👍🏽
Great, realistic review. Nice to have someone's thoughts who owns one and has used it themselves in the real world. Thank you.

That's great 110 is a very good price
Great review, think you covered everything buddy!

cool tent, I always like tents in the colour green, and the weight is perfect for solo tours
Yes, the green colour is perfect for camping in the wild! Cheers for watching 👍🏽

Isn't there one in the corner? I have it but only used it once so far...

Very helpful Ceri! Many thanks 👍
Cheers Matt, glad you found it useful. I appreciate the comment! 👍🏽

I'm not sure either! But yes it's often an advantage in these kind of tents!

Hi Ceri, thanks for this excellent review. Question for you - have you found that you can put up the outer first or is this not a workable plan?
Inner first usually produces a tent with better tension and resistance to wind and rain. But if it’s unfortunately rainy when you are pitching you have to be bloody quick.
If you use the footprint you can solve that issue by doing outer first
I have bought a footprint for this and camping with this next week, how do I do flysheet first then connect inner?
Really cant go wrong with alpkit
Top review, looks quality 👍
Cheers, glad you found it useful! Happy adventuring 🤙🏾
Is it still great, or did you replace it with something else?
Looks like a nice tent but I would feel trapped there. Thanks for review. 👍🙂
Haha for a one person tent I find it's better than some, but yes still quite small!
Very useful!
Thanks for watching!
How do you not stay awake all night worrying that someone is going to pinch your bike?

@@CeriMiddleton Sod that, my pack is heavy enough without carrying a tree everywhere !
Id rather have my bike laying on me in tent that out there😂
just take a wheel off and stick that in the tent or get a bike tent
not many people are going to try carrying a bike away with one wheel missing
can always camo the bike in a bush or long grass too
If somebody is wandering around in the middle of nowhere, to steal a bike they can have it.. because they are obviously insane.. 😂😂😂
That tent is crap ,if you camp in the desert it maybe OK but with damp or wet conditions you are screwed
Really? It's held up quite well the times I've used it in the rain!
@@CeriMiddleton it's badly designed the inner ones under the porch door which means every drip falls straight I the I need and it's virtually impossible to taken down without getting the inner wet from condensation on the outer and putting it up in the rain well forget it
I'm told , regarding putting up in rain, that if you have the Alpkit footprint u can easily put up the outer first, as you'd want to in the rain .
