Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy, Donny Osmond, Davy Jones....Singers, actors, and magazine cover heartthrob. That song reminded me of something Frankie Avalon would sing.
Bobby Sherman, a very definite teen heartthrob back in the day. He was also featured in the tv show Here Come the Brides, one of my faves way back when.
For those who were never able to see the show, his character actually had a stutter so kind of unusual for that time period. It also starred David Soul who went on to co-star in an all time fav cop show Starsky and Hutch

Bobby Sherman of "Here Comes the Brides" television fame. My sister loved him. Our bedroom walls were full of pictures of him. He went on to be an EMT in Los Angeles.
When I think of this song, I always think of "Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes" by Edison Lighthouse. They must have been released around the same time. Because I remember them both getting a lot of airplay. Bobby Sherman had a role on a weekly series called "Here Come the Brides".

OMG Bobby Sherman! *SWOON* ! He had every teenage girl wrapped around his little finger but he was never pretentious and never let his fame overshadow his life or personality. Always humble and down to earth. He once said he was grateful to be able give back to fans, when he could, in the form of an EMT. If I had lived in his district I would have called for his service and *then* had a heart attack he could tend to! Wish he had done more acting.

But listen to most of his songs, particularly on his albums. They are not teenybopper at all; they are more adult contemporary. He was marketed as a teenybopper artist because that was his core audience, but his music never reflected this. Many of his songs have lyrics and messages (plain or hidden) that are way above the comprehension of the typical preteen.
@@cracklinrosie11 I had all or most of his albums and if love comes beats on drums is not for a younger crowd I don't know what is. I still love him and his TV shows.
@@nancyboggs2615 “The Drum” is actually a ragtime song. Kids loved it, but it had definite adult appeal, too. It was played on AC radio. Have you heard the B side, “Free Now to Roam”? It is not included on any of his albums, and it is very much outside of his usual style, but it really shows who he is as an artist. He not only wrote it, he played all of the instruments on it. Also, did you know that most of his hit singles charted higher on AC than on the Hot 100?
I was looking at it as a 12 year old. I had an older sister by 12 years that would not like him and called him the the same thing. I'm not a music historian, just a 12 years old opinion.
I was 13 and had Teen Magazine's centerfold poster of Bobby Sherman up on my bedroom wall (I also had David Cassidy and some Flower Power stickers up there too). The only song of Bobby's that I really remember though is Little Woman which was a hit in 1970. The song you reacted to did not trigger any memories at all for me, in fact I don't believe I've ever heard it before.

Yep. You should definitely watch The Wrecking Crew documentary. The Wrecking Crew were studio musicians who played (uncredited) on countless songs. Oh and Bobby Sherman's other big hit is "Easy Come, Easy Go."
No judgement from me, but I had to laugh at the irony-- You went from Woodstock Wednesdays to Wednesday with Bobby Sherman. In my generation (old enough to remember when Woodstock happened & when Bobby was popular), that's just about as opposite ends of the musical spectrum as you can get!! 🤣 Bend Me, Shape Me by the American Breed is another horn-heavy 60s song. You'd also love The Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose.
Everytime you mention your love of horns I suggest Blood, Sweat, and Tears with David Clayton-Thomas vocals: Spinning Wheels, You’ve Made Me So Very Happy, And When I Die, and their remake of a Billie Holiday tune, God Bless The Child. All from one album with a sound that was like nothing before. Billie had a unique smoky voice. I don’t know many of her songs but I really like Gloomy Sunday, A song about suicide that the label found so depressing they made her add a happy ending!
I Can't Remember The Brand Of Breakfast Cereal But Back In The 70's They Had Records You Cut Off Of The Box And Could Play Them On The Record Player . Bobby Sherman's Was One Of Them :-)

He started out on a show called Shindig (a sort of pop version of Soul Train back in the 60's) as a member of the cast and then had appearances in other TV shows. But actually had a lot of Pop hits into the early 70's. A teenage Idol.. Which you should listen to some more from the 60's & 70's . Tommy Roe had many hits.. through the 60's & Dizzy would be a killer track to listen to. But in the 70's there was Donnie Osmond, David Cassidy, his brother Shaun & many more.. an endless road to go down.
He says in the song that he will be back in "September" so, obviously this is about SCHOOL. They have to separate for the summer but he will be back when school starts up again! ( and that can be Interpreted at different age levels. It could be Middle School, High School, College... a lot of ways it could be applied )
Today Jan 26th would have been Eddie Van Halen 67th birthday. Upcoming date Feb. 3 was a date in which the world cried. The day the music died. On February 3, 1959, American rock and roll musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and "The Big Bopper" J. P. Oh Bobby Sherman, yes definitely a heartthrob! Major crush back in the day. I think I wore out his albums I played them so much. "Little Woman" , "Hey, Mister Sun", "Seattle".
I am 57 years old now I love this song as a kid back in the early 1970s. He actually played in one episode of Emergency as a doctor who was terrible and inexperienced. Until they actually taught him how to be the best doctor that medical center isn't a joke.

Wow, Bobby Sherman! Next you should do David Soul’s Black Bean Soup just to make the Here Come the Brides reunion complete! My posters were Steppenwolf but my little sister tried to edge them out with Bobby and David!
In addition to "Here Come the Brides!", he was given his own TV Sitcom called "Getting Together", which produced a moderate AM hit from the theme song of the same name. He retired from acting and became a paramedic.
Bobby Sherman was my first crush. I spent all of my babysitting money on the teeny-booper mags and his albums at that time, and never missed a Here Come the Brides episode! He played Jeremy. Flash forward a hundred years....my husband and I are expecting his first daughter. His favorite song was "Julie, Julie, Julie". I couldn't believe it, but hey, okay. Flash forward nearly two decades later and she marries a guy named Jeremy who was named after...ta da...the same Bobby Sherman character I had had my first crush on! Weird world, huh?
He also played like a million different instruments. He built his own sound studio in his house. He was the host of a show called Shindig prior to being on "The Brides" show. He had cool dance moves, and his quirky, sweet smile was to die for. Also, he stayed Wholesome, at a time when things were going all over the place, if you know what I mean. No sex, drugs, trashing hotel rooms, etc. He had class. (He also built a miniature working replica of Disney Land when he was just a teen. I saw the old newspaper article about it.) He is a man of many talents and interests.
I had such a crush on Bobby Sherman. You should check out the video of him singing this in concert. He had a one piece blue pantsuit on. Such a heartthrob!!💙
The first album I ever bought was Bobby's first LP! He was my 5th grade girlfriend's favorite, too! He was on a hot TV series at the time and on the covers of a hundred teen mags every month for several years! Even had his own comic book!
My first "love." Also, the first concert I went to - at age 13. He also acted in the TV show "Here Come the Brides." When he ended his acting/singing career, he got into EMS/law enforcement work.
Yasssss…. Bobby Sherman was my good behavior record! I was maybe 5 years old? When Bobby entered my life! 😆 whenever I was ‘praised’ for good behavior, not sucking my thumb, not wetting the bed… not throwing a tantrum… being quiet (which is important in a house with six kids!) I was rewarded with Bobby!!! It’s just fun music with a happy message.
Still have my original 45rpm vinyl record of this song. Bobby was a huge teen idol and was often on the covers of Teen Beat & Tiger Beat magazines. His music always had great arrangements. Other Bobby Sherman songs: "The Drum" "Cried Like A Baby" "Bubblegum And Braces" "August" "Spend Some Time Lovin' Me" "Love's Been Good To Me" ✌️

@@nancyboggs2615 I had to listen with adult ears before I realized this.
I got a kick out of watching Jordan celebrating his Bengals winning.
Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes" by Edison Lighthouse
Horns, Horns & more Horns - Brian Setzer Orchestra - Rock This Town
Not really my Cup of Tea on this one, but I do have to compliment you guys for your diversity in what you react to!
Suggestion, Jim Croce song I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song
I was 13 and had Teen Magazine's centerfold poster of Bobby Sherman up on my bedroom wall (I also had David Cassidy and some Flower Power stickers up there too). The only song of Bobby's that I really remember though is Little Woman which was a hit in 1970. The song you reacted to did not trigger any memories at all for me, in fact I don't believe I've ever heard it before.
Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy, and Donny Osmond. The early 70s teen idol trio! ❤ My bedroom was plastered with their posters as well. Oh the memories...
@@Cheryl_Haydon My room was plaster with Bobby, hahaha. Oh the days of youth.
You still NEED to hear Bruce Springsteen "Jungleland" for Clarence Clemmons epic sax solo. And it's an incredible song before he elevates it.
AGREE!!!!!

Yep. You should definitely watch The Wrecking Crew documentary. The Wrecking Crew were studio musicians who played (uncredited) on countless songs. Oh and Bobby Sherman's other big hit is "Easy Come, Easy Go."
Speaking of heartthrobs (& Doo Wop) Consider reacting to the legendary *Frankie Valley & The 4 Seasons* song," *BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY* "
Bend Me, Shape Me by the American Breed is another horn-heavy 60s song.
OMG He was my 1st crush!! love you reacting to it!
I Can't Remember The Brand Of Breakfast Cereal But Back In The 70's They Had Records You Cut Off Of The Box And Could Play Them On The Record Player . Bobby Sherman's Was One Of Them :-)
Can yall react to
Peter Gabriel- in your eyes( secret world live), your going to love this. Phill Collins used to be part of his band before he went solo
TLC- Diggin on You (official HD video)
Beach Boys- God only Knows ( you'll love this)
New Edition- if it isn't love(all grown up)
The Bangles walk like an egyptian ( video version)
Ok,if you are getting the Bobby Sherman out, gonna have to get the Davidy Cassidy/ Partridge Family out.Donny Osmond as well.Yup,my older sister had all their posters on her wall in the early 70's...😁☮
OMG, he was my teen crush big time!! He still makes my heart melt when I hear this. Watch some live songs and watch his sexy moves. ;) Easy Come, Easy Go, Little Woman, La,La,La(If I Had You), just to name some of his bigger hits. Thanks for this one.
Love you guys.... you put me in a good mood!! TRY: MARTY ROBBINS - EL PASO & THE THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE - 10cc
P. Richardson were killed in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, together with pilot Roger Peterson.😪😪😪😪
Oh Bobby Sherman, yes definitely a heartthrob! Major crush back in the day. I think I wore out his albums I played them so much. This song always make me think of my cousin Julie. ;) He was both an actor and singer. Not only that but a great guy. He worked as an EMT in Northern California after he left showbusiness.
I never thought of Bobby Sherman as being a good singer, he was popular & cute but.....Dan Fogleberg "Leader of the band" He was a singer songwriter
I had to brush away memory cobwebs on this one. Bobby Sherman was a hunny🤗
Horns for Amber, Dance for Jay. You've reacted to this artist before when he was younger performing Stray Cats - Rock This Town. PLEASE react to *The Brian Setzer Orchestra - Jump Jive An' Wail* ua-cam.com/video/aHWcN5YxuYc/v-deo.html
High School..The early 70s. We ALL sang this song to a classmate who had a underclassmen girl named Julie crushing on him. It was hilarious every time she was within hearing distance everyone would break into this song. Every time for two years.
In fifth grade my Mom took me to my first concert…. Bobby Sherman. ❤️by the way… all episodes of Here Comes the Brides are found here on UA-cam.
Bobby Sherman was probably a heart throb of every school girl in America including me! God bless him!
Be still my heart. I loved, loved, loved Bobby Sherman! And of course, I listened to this song constantly.
OMG! Totally forgot about this one! Suddenly I'm 12 again 😂
Great reaction! Another great Bobby Sherman song you might like is “Easy Come, Easy Go.”
A suggestion for your love of horns - listen to El Pas City by Marty Robbins - great Mexican horns!
Okay, if you can react to Bobby Sherman you can do k d Lang. Cmon give her a chance. Crying or Hallelujah. Fantastic for female Friday!
Yes!! When KD LANG sang *Hallelujah* live before millions of ppl in the stadium & around the globe for the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver Winter Olympics is beyond moving!

omg, bobby sherman?!?!! :) have you guys done the Monkees yet?!! davy jones!!
Had such a hard crush on this man...I'm 61 and still can sing each and everyone of his songs...❤❤❤
Bobby was an early teen idol of the 70s
Haven't heard this since the early 70s. My female cousins loved this guy and wouldn't stop talking about him. That's all I really remember about him.
Oh man, THAT song is a blast from the past !!!! Lol- Kind of groovy 😎
"Almost like a heart-throb"?!
Girl, he was THE heart-throb! 😍
Love Bobby Sherman he was a actor and a paramedic I think though I can not really remember heard he was a good guy.
Oh wow this is blast from the past. I was about 4 when this came out but my older cousin loved him so I remember hearing this a lot. He was also in a TV show called Here Come the Brides around this time.
Check out "Cherry Hill Park" by Billy Joe Royal if you like horn driven pop!
You want a tear jerker give a listen to another Bobby, Bobby Goldsboro song "Honey"
Tiger Beat Flashbacks lol
Wow, Bobby Sherman! Next you should do David Soul’s Black Bean Soup just to make the Here Come the Brides reunion complete! My posters were Steppenwolf but my little sister tried to edge them out with Bobby and David!
A talented artist. Played many instruments. A teen heart throb back then. I remember him on a Partridges episode as well.
My cousin Karen wallpapered her room with his photos. To this day, when his name is mentioned he will blush!
Bobby Sherman doesn't hold a candle to Keith Partridge!
You'd love his crooner-ish horn driven version of "Mr. Success":

Back in the day we used to say "Peace, love, and Bobby Sherman!"
In addition to "Here Come the Brides!", he was given his own TV Sitcom called "Getting Together", which produced a moderate AM hit from the theme song of the same name. He retired from acting and became a paramedic.
You need to listen to Honey by Bobby Goldsboro. Amber get ready to cry. 😭😭😭
He and Donnie Osmond, my first celebrity crushes, haha. This has a real "big band" sound.
Elvis was my first but those 2 and David Cassidy had posters all over my walls as well.
@@toodlescae I started to mention David Cassidy but my list of crushes is long, haha
Yet another great Wrecking Crew song! Btw , so was "Mac the Knife".
You have reminders that he had 12 albums he was in 10 movie and 12tv show and 2 tv shows and became paramedic
GOING BACK? TRY GARY PUCKETT AND THE UNION GAP ... OUTSTANDING UNTRAINED VOICE!
Listen to Marty Robbins El Paso City for the use ofMexican horns
Still have my original 45rpm vinyl record of this song. Bobby was a huge teen idol and was often on the covers of Teen Beat & Tiger Beat magazines. His music always had great arrangements. Other Bobby Sherman songs:
"The Drum"
"Cried Like A Baby"
"Bubblegum And Braces"
"August"
"Spend Some Time Lovin' Me"
"Love's Been Good To Me"
✌️
