I started my first business with a £2 non running lawn mower I bought at a local auction. Within 3 years I was earning between £40 and £80 an hour back in the 90's and it paid for my house and two new (salvage )cars . We then moved to Dorset to care for my mother in law and I started another business buying old sofa's . The first one cost £5 off ebay and I sold it the same day I bought the trailer to move it for £75. When I retired 4 years ago I was earning £1000 clear profit a week. Most people never believe their potential ....you did ,well done that man ❤
You should be an inspiration to so many other young people of today. What your doing is truly exceptional. Your hard working and dedicated to what you do. Keep up the good work.
I spent 10 years as a Mobile Mechanic - in the Rust Belt! There were not many of us back when I started - I was the only guy within 50 miles - so I stayed really busy. You learn alot about securing things in the van! I had a generator (with the exhaust going out the side of the van), a mig welder and a Air Compressor. I been wrenching now as a Master Mechanic for 34 years! Good to see you young guys carrying on the business, you have a very nice set-up. One thing that really kept things in order for me was dish tubs (bus tubs) for the parts and tools - try it!
Wow, that's really sad, it's such an amazing profession. I was a little vague about the bus tubs, I didn't use them in the Work Van, I used them to transport my tools that would be used on the job from the van to the vehicle (because it's on the ground it really keeps the tools all together in one place at your work level) and another tub for fasteners and parts (so those don't get misplaced). I learned right away when I was mobile that it was all about efficiency and that's what really streamlined me. A good professional parts dept. was Gold and I treated those guys well!@@themarvelousvlog
I really do think mobile mechanics are impressive people. The confidence to take (usually old rusty stuff) apart on the road or someones driveway means you really are committing to solving that problem in short order once you’ve started. I work on my own (and my friends) boats, cars and tractors and the amount of times I have to leave them sat on axel stands waiting for parts I’ve not thought of, or needing something pressed out, or welded before I can complete the job etc… if I knew I absolutely had to have it go back together that day, I don’t think it’s start most jobs. Fair play to you and keep up the good work 👍
i think it comes down to experience. you know the ins and outs of each job and know everything you might need to finish it. Id still much rather have a garage and have customers come to me. I dont understand some of the jobs on the channel where the car is drivable and they can take it to a garage but call out a mobile mechanic. I've been seing a lot of mobile mechanics these days on my road for cars getting worked on.
@@Professional_UA-cam_Commenter I get why they call for a mobile mechanic, it's much more convenient to have them come to your car than having to sort out your schedule around the opening hours of a service shop which opens and closes at the same time as you need to be at work and get off work.

Spray WD40 on soft cloth then wipe down sockets and rusty tools this will stop rust appearing again, utube how to remove rust from sockets spanners ect
I have been watching your channel only a short time, I am impressed with your work and commitment, have you ever thought about working on motorcycles as well, love your work and dedication to this channel, I try and work on my own car but only simple jobs like , oil change & filter ATF fluids , but then on my motorcycle I try and have a go at the engine but I find it gets difficult do to old age lol .
Thank you! We try hard! I have worked on older Honda 125 and 155 but nothing in the newer side of things. I’d love to learn it as I’ve got mates who are in to their bikes. One day for sure 🤞
Nice little setup for some reason I thought you were based in America when I saw the start of the video, but then I saw the Halfords tool box and it was like. Na, he's a UK home boy :) How have you found the SGS Engineering toolbox? I prefer the Clarke HD Plus range myself from machine mart, although I don't like the drawers. I want to find a full width one for my sockets rather than split designs. It's seems stable in your videos. I was surprised, I was expecting more sockets in your kit, but you have what you need. it's good that you have went with Chip / Pin too, so many mechanics are missing out because they don't bother with a simple machine Do you have the part number of the toolkit for removing the screws? (the one prior to the tiny E Torx sockets)
Amazing story mate! Am new to your channel and I'm addicted. How did you learn the fundamentals of how to be a mechanic? I'm interested in learning the basics doing hands on work because that's how to learn. I'm not really looking to be a mechanic but I have year 2000 V8 BMW E38. I would like to learn how do more basic maintenance on it. In fact, I have learnt lots about cars in general because of my car. For the past two years it's been leaking coolant from the thermostat into the DME and the coolant fried the DME. It has a new DME now but 3 garages failed to figure out that it was coolant which killed the DME. They thought someone did not close the ECU box and rain water went in! Last month I got brave, took my tools and removed a few parts to get to the connection and I found it soaked with coolant. It's a common problem with E38s.
Well done mate! I actually worked with BMW Mini. To get qualified, you can also get a course provided by your local motor factors which is IMI certified. It’s all about research and passion. If you’ve not got either, you’re really going to struggle. Keep it up mate!
Get a soldering iron and melt your name and phone number in all your plastic cases and tools . If you can get a metal stamp do the same with your metal tools if possible. I lost all my stuff in 2012 when a thief broke into my back garden and i still haven't been able to replace all the stuff. Drill bits where my biggest loss as i had over £2000 worth . Some where specially made with really long stems . Some where diamond ones for hard steel .
Carpenter of 40yrs, I would encourage any young man who has served an apprenticeship in any trade to eventually start up on their own, if you are good at thinking out of the box you can't go wrong.
Thanks for sharing you vlog. Your tools are your livelihood, please make sure you store these securely overnight as thieves will be marking your vehicle on your UA-cam clips
Hello dear, if you were to recommend a scan tool that would cost between £800 and £1000, which one would you go for between Autel and Launch, and which model? Thanks
Hi, Seen all your videos and really enjoyed it. I also work as a mobile mechanic. I was just wondering what would be a good diagnostic tool to get (Affordable one)? I have the Autel Mk808 now!
One thing I always wondered, how & where do you get the relevant torque values for the part & car you working on ? This really bothers me when I'm working on my car & googling always brings up different or wrong values. I'm not a mechanic I just owned a PSA once & had to learn how to change stuff. Also do you cover Hampshire (Winchester) area I need a clutch change but I really don't trust mechanics easily, & because you shown how you take care of your customers I know you do things correctly. I like every bolt & fastener put back but everytime my cars go for a service a clip or something is missing which really pisses me off!
I get it from AllData/Haynes/AutoData or through main dealer portals like Aos (BMW) Erwin for VAG etc… they all cost premium so it won’t be worth for a DIYer to be buying memberships. Yeah for sure we can come to you for the right price. Please leave us a message: 07599 662470 info@marvelous-cars.com Thank you!
I would like to ask what your advice would be as a first step to start out. You mentioned starting work on the neighbours car. I myself have been working on friends cars, doing breaks and suspension, general services etc. Is there a legal education requirement that one needs to meet before being able to start, or can one go into it as a sole trader and do online training? Thank you!
How did you go about learning all about your trade ? You’re very knowledgeable & have lots of confidence…. What courses did you do? Tell us your journey in this profession Thanks and good honest worker…..
I’d love to know how you secure your van at night, with all those tools in and do you have some sort of Insurance Incase it’s pinched, I presume you have a garage of some sort or lock up.
I don't carry anywhere near as much kit for mobile jobs and i lock my van in my workshop at night and its cctv and alarmed to my phone. The scumbags will even book you to do work then follow you. Being robbed will set you back a long way both financially and lost customers. They don't need to knick your van. Can clear out content in minute silently.
Bro great content, nice to see the setup! Are you using those shiny sockets in your impact? You probably know that they are not rated for the gun and can blow up in your face! You want them impact sockets black. Trying to set up mobile A/C but they want 3k just for the insurance 😱😱😱
Yhup. Unfortunately I am one of the brave ones who uses it like an impact socket. But yeah, defo would be a great investment that. When I started, my insurance was 5.5k so your quote is actually not bad
Yeah it wouldn’t be bad if it was my main thing, I’m a builder by trade so used to paying £180 for public liability 😂😂 this A/C is a new venture so just do friends etc at the moment, but they said I would have to have a motor trader insurance due to driving customers cars and working on them.
Nice insightful video.... could do with a new windscreen! 😉I wouldn't tell people what profit you make as that will potentially make them think you are profiteering like that, but as you say you are in business to make money!
2 years ago, i was living out of a stolen van for 6 months. And then it got towed away while i was eating... everything was gone now... everything. Something in me broke, i snapped and just called 6 places up and explained my situation. I had no home, i had no car, i had nothing, but i had my hands. Its been 2 years since i was hired, and now Im co-owner of a multi mil a year landscape company and I manage all the high end clients. Sometimes you hit the bottom of the barrel, and sometimes you break right through it only to find gold.
Main one that I use is AllData and AutoData. I also use Haynes for more basic stuff like servicing information and E3 for very complex stuff… let’s not forget about UA-cam too 😂
Mate please up your game with security on the van, there are so many tossers out robbing these days. Lots of tradesmen plumbers sparks etc have thrown the towel in due to repeated thefts from their vans...... Personally i'd get John to sleep in the van! a tent attached to your van that way you will not be wet and cold when you are working in the rainy U.K...take care of your health young man.....
good luck 🤞
Thank you!
We are buying a new van fairly soon with everything basically in it. This van has been giving us trouble and it’s time to give it up
You are good at what you do, good on you.
I'd love to know where you did your apprenticeship and training, they obviously taught you well and you worked hard at it.
Top man . Great video, been following you for a bit now. Good set up you got there. All the best glad to see you're smashing it. I'd love to do just mobile diagnostics but it hard man. To cover all different makes and impossible to know everything! Also after working on a 2 poster seeing you do clutches on your back, I'm well into my 40s and working on your backs rough! Especially with uk weather!!😅
It is very difficult to be an all-rounder. I try to stick to BMW/Mini and Mechanical work but if not, AllData is always there to help… let’s not forget UA-cam too 😂
@@themarvelousvlogUA-cam and Tik Tok haha guys at work laugh but I've learned loads of tips off there. I try to do some videos to Try and help to save people time and money where I can.
Well done lock down made me do it and im glad i got the opertunity
I sort of expected a little background of how you learned your trade in order to be a mobile mechanic. Maybe you’ve covered this in one of your videos???
Was thinking the same 👍👍👍
You need a bench vise on a sturdy table in your van
good for you making a living a bit of a tip in your draws you have boxes of different things get a marker pen and write on the box what is in it and it will save you time ,thanks for the video
Believe me, name me a tool that’s in those drawers and I will get them out for you, blindfolded. It’s a tidy disaster in my head 😂
@@themarvelousvlog good for you as you are young my age you forget everything
Good advice, I'll be setting up my business from next week, currently working at a dealer time to make the real life
I love your videos being a self taut mechanic apart from the loud music it makes me difficult to here you talk I can't use subs as I have 2 bad cataracts
I still subbed though keep the good work up man👍
Spray WD40 on soft cloth then wipe down sockets and rusty tools this will stop rust appearing again, utube how to remove rust from sockets spanners ect
There is a true saying in the Royal Navy. “ A clean ship is a happy ship “😊😊
From 28 pennies in your bank account....to a very inspirational and professional young man. Well done and thank you for your excellent content 👍😎👍
Love your youtubes , well done
Another's great video
Thanks for posting
Best regards
Stefano
You must have a very good security system fitted to your van with carrying all those tools with you.
Nice little setup for some reason I thought you were based in America when I saw the start of the video, but then I saw the Halfords tool box and it was like. Na, he's a UK home boy :)
How have you found the SGS Engineering toolbox? I prefer the Clarke HD Plus range myself from machine mart, although I don't like the drawers. I want to find a full width one for my sockets rather than split designs. It's seems stable in your videos.
I was surprised, I was expecting more sockets in your kit, but you have what you need. it's good that you have went with Chip / Pin too, so many mechanics are missing out because they don't bother with a simple machine
Do you have the part number of the toolkit for removing the screws? (the one prior to the tiny E Torx sockets)
Hi bud as a mobile engineer myself how do you keep your van safe from break ins and theft?
@@themarvelousvlog thanks for taking your time to give me your advice mate.
It’s always sad that we have to do these things in today’s world isn’t? 😮💨
Have a look at the topdon diag tool, it’s the bollocks mate
Hello dear, if you were to recommend a scan tool that would cost between £800 and £1000, which one would you go for between Autel and Launch, and which model?
Thanks
Nice to see you use Halfords finest tools😁👍
is right lad, boss watch that 👍👍👍
Hi,
Seen all your videos and really enjoyed it. I also work as a mobile mechanic. I was just wondering what would be a good diagnostic tool to get (Affordable one)? I have the Autel Mk808 now!
Can you make a video about insurance, costs and what type of cover ect?
Please leave us a message:

Thank you!
I like the idea of turning a ratchet spanner into socket driver can you buy them on their own?.
From Halfords, yes
I would like to ask what your advice would be as a first step to start out. You mentioned starting work on the neighbours car. I myself have been working on friends cars, doing breaks and suspension, general services etc. Is there a legal education requirement that one needs to meet before being able to start, or can one go into it as a sole trader and do online training?
Thank you!
How did you go about learning all about your trade ?
You’re very knowledgeable & have lots of confidence….
What courses did you do?
Tell us your journey in this profession
Thanks and good honest worker…..
I’d love to know how you secure your van at night, with all those tools in and do you have some sort of Insurance Incase it’s pinched, I presume you have a garage of some sort or lock up.
Profit is what you have left after you have paid the people you need to , the VAT etc …. How you made £700 clear profit on that clutch is fantasy mate
Fascinating. Respect
Do you leave your tools overnight in the van? Just saying lots of vans getting broken in to
Its when you make a mistake on your customer car thats the biggest put off for alot of people
Cant do that in New York! There's no place that you can easily park that van.
Yes, i take relays and fusible links from scrap yards 😂👍
do you take precautions to stop thieves from breaking into your van? I feel like that would be more biggest worry if i was a mobile mechanic.
It’s likely that they will have to break 3 house walls down before they can get in to my van BUT people will have their own way if they really want to
Keep on keeping on 🎉
We will keep going! Thank you 🤩
Nice insightful video.... could do with a new windscreen! 😉I wouldn't tell people what profit you make as that will potentially make them think you are profiteering like that, but as you say you are in business to make money!
Great video this. I'm interested in becoming a mechanic, how did you start if you don't mind me asking? 👍🏽
Well proud of you pal! Life throws shit at people and they take it as it is instead of using it as sign to move forward. Let’s keep going mate 💪🏽
how do you travel
Great content, what area are you from and how far would you travel for a job? And how do i book you?
Have you got a easy way of doing a crank position sensor on a mk2 seat leon
Thanks for sharing, it’s nice to know a bit about how it all came about 👍 what do you use for data and information?
Main one that I use is AllData and AutoData. I also use Haynes for more basic stuff like servicing information and E3 for very complex stuff… let’s not forget about UA-cam too 😂
@@themarvelousvlogisnt auto data really expensive now 🤔
Where do you work bro? Which city? Can you come to Scarborough if I need your service?
Mate please up your game with security on the van, there are so many tossers out robbing these days.
Lots of tradesmen plumbers sparks etc have thrown the towel in due to repeated thefts from their vans......
Personally i'd get John to sleep in the van! Just think he would always be early for work!!!
Hahahahahahah! I love that John comment! 😂 Forget Tommy, get John to sleep in there hahahahahah! Quality 😂
