It's not about what you said while you are alive, but the legacy you left behind after you're gone.

Sounds like South Africa in the bad old days. They were bad old days for Black people in the US as well. It's just sick old world hate and it's still with us. It's not acceptable anymore and never was.

@frc68: keep listening. Your beloved LBJ is heard using the "N" word many times.

What I hear is "neegra", which was accepted vernacular for the time. A derivation of the politically correct "negro" at that time. I know. I was there.

The democratic party back then was the party of racism, state's rights, evangelical christianity, etc. What does that sound like? White republicans today. Yeah. It's complicated. Look it up. Over a period of time, democrats became unsatisfied with the democratic party because it wasn't pandering to them anymore. So they formed their own and over time, many ended up in the Republican party as it changed as well. But the descendants of southern democrats are largely today's republicans. Same racism/white privilege, evangelical christianity, and state's rights.

Half Pint that's the biggest lie ever. As the South became less racist the more Republican it became. The "Great Switch" involved 6 Senators and not all of them from the South. Racism was just as bad in the boroughs of New York, the state of Indiana and many other Northern States.

Wallace is comparing it to a rock....not a big deal. He is trying to equate that just because it happened it doesnt mean things have to change drasticallly in regards to civil rights.Someone got hit with a rock..

2 southern democrats good old boys with lbj dancing around with a segregationist governor. can't imagine Wallace talking to kennedy after Wallace was forced to back down over blocking the doorway. lbj should've told Wallace the marchers whatever state they're from are protected by th constitution and your wanting federal help for your side of klan cops don't square with how civilrights marchers have been treated by your people.
