Indeed, like most pet owners, Beanie has become a member of your family - in your case he is the equivalent of a son. However, and much as I hate to state the obvious, always keep in mind that the life expectancy of a dog is much shorter than for a human, and that is something that you will eventually have to deal with, hopefully many years from now.
