Hey girl! I'm so happy I found you! I'm 26 right now and will apply for vet school at 29, same as you! I've been trying to find pre vet students that I can relate to with changing careers. You should be so proud that you followed your calling, change is scary but look at you now! Congrats at getting accepted and brb while I go binge watch your videos haha.
Hey! That is so exciting, 3 years will go by fast and you'll be applying in no time! Thank you for your kind words - it was definitely a leap but one I'm so glad I made. Let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like to see, enjoy the binge!
I’m so glad I found you!!! I’m currently 25 getting my bachelors in animal science and I will be 29 once I apply to vet school. I’ve always push this career away because I wasn’t the best in science in high school. I was doing hair but quit a year ago because I wasn’t passionate so I just been a stay at home Mom. Now I finally have the courage to go back to school and become a veterinarian. I’m so happy and scared at the same time but I know it will be worth it! I’ve haven’t found anyone to relate to until I seen this video. Thank you for sharing!
I’m so glad you made this. You are right, no one else has documented their non-traditional journey this way. I’m 28, married, mother to 3, and I just registered for pre-reqs yesterday. God put the thought of vet school on my heart twice in the last 6 months, and I’m Jumping on it. I have a BS in Ag Business, so I need 9 courses to fulfill pre-reqs. I think I need to document my journey too. Can’t wait to follow yours! Keep it coming and good luck! 💪🏻👏🏻
Thank you for this! I love hearing about other non-traditional students, it is a unique experience. That is so exciting to hear, and I’d love to see your journey through it all - you got this!
I'm a nurse and a mom, my grades in some college classes weren't great, but I am going back for my bachelors now to finish up pre reqs and your video is the first video I've found that resonates with me as a non traditional student. Thank you!!!!
Thank you for your comment, that is so great to hear! I know being a non-traditional student can be tricky but it’s definitely doable! Goodluck in your studies!! 🙂
@@chantal_riane did you use an advisor to look at your transcripts and tell you what you could do to be a better candidate? I was trying to find anyone that could help out, but there are so many options.
I'm currently in x-ray school to become a rad tech because I knew I wanted to do something more but I wasn't sure where to start. As I started going up to the OR, I realized more and more that I wanted to be that person operating, but I'd be too scared to operate on humans. Lately, I realized that vet school is something I'm extremely passionate about. I've been listening to so many other people who are vets/ in vet school but you are the first whose story is so close to mine. Congratulations on being accepted, by the time I start interviewing for school, you'll be a fresh vet. Cant wait to see the journey :)
I really appreciate you sharing your journey. I'm 35 and being a Veterinarian has literally been my only dream I feel a huge void in my current career. I've been watching countless videos trying to find the courage to just do it so thank you
Thank you for this, I love these comments as it’s basically the entire reason i ever made this channel! It’s a different type of journey for sure but I think worth it. Good luck!
I love this ! Thank you so much for sharing I’ve been back and forth with this I was gonna go into nursing but my dream career is to be a vet and I believe you just showed me that if I’m gonna go to school flit do what I really want 💜
@destinyrusher5757 Thank you for your comment! This is exactly the reason I made that video. I have definitely spent lots of time looking for other people who might have done the nurse to veterinarian thing and it seems like it's not that common, so I am happy to hear you got something from my video! I say 100% do it! 💜
Hey 😊 Thanks for that video. I will be 35 in August. Just had my application registered for Vet School after 3 years of animal science degree. Also had a failed attempt to become a Mechanical Engineer…was studying it for 2.5 years and never finished. Will love to follow your process becoming a Vet. Good luck
Literally me right now. I was in marketing, did 7 years in marketing. Applied to nursing because of my passion to help others…. Got into nursing, graduated, I’m a registered nurse…. But now I want to go to school for veterinary…. I’m 28…. And no clue on what to do, how to even start and panicking about switching for a third time
It’s a hard shift to make and not an easy decision to go back to school once you already have a set career, definitely. For me personally, the panick of being in a job I didn’t love my whole life was worse than the panick of trying to get into vet school again and switch, so I went with it. Goodluck on whatever you decide and thank you for your comment!
Girl I'm also a nontraditional pre vet student. Applying next cycle 😳 keeping making videos girl love them and can't wait to see how your journey progresses 😊
Thank you so much for this comment - made my day! Love to hear about other non-traditional students, good luck with your application! Let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like to see more of! :)
How many years of vet schooling will you need with your degrees you already have? Will most of your science classes transfer? Will school be shorter in length with your degrees you already completed?
Those are very good questions, and I’ve been asked that a lot from friends and family. Unfortunately, I still need to do the full 4 years of this DVM degree, none of my previous credits transferred. That being said, my previous nursing and agriculture degree is definitely helping me - the credits don’t transfer but the knowledge, clinical skill and confidence working with people does! After I finish vet school, I’ll have completed 11 years of university total. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Hey! Thanks for commenting! I think the biggest 2 things for me the second time around were that 1) my grades were better because I applied after nursing school so doing well in nursing school classes boosted my average, and 2) working and getting more life experience. I didn't retake classes, but having taking more classes gave me a chance to bring my average up for sure!
