I love how Phil talks about just attending his church and sitting in the pews as a congregation member. But also, can you imagine being the worship leader knowing Phil Wickham is just chillin a few rows back?

One time Phil came into a Christian coffee house I worked at and a recording of worship from our church was playing. Like a young idiot I was like, “Phil, check this out,” and I skipped back to the track where I was leading his old song “Jesus, Lord of Heaven,” and added, “this is us!” My co-worker was also on the track and she was not happy.

Christian songwriting must begin with consecration, consecrate your work to the Lord, empty yourself of pride and a desire for recognition. Then humbly ask the Lord to help you concentrate on the task. I call this my two “C” rule. When you are stuck, and having problems with the lyrics or melody, get up and take a walk, as it clears your mind, and the Holy Spirit may work in your heart as you walk along. Enjoy songwriting, make it a passion, not a hobby. Go for quality, not quantity. Strive to do the best you can for the Lord, and be in His word daily. God bless each of you here. Find your voice, and try to avoid imitating other singers or composers, set your own style even for well known hymns. To avoid copyright problems, write your own songs, and cover only hymns in public domain, and again, do the best you can in earnest. Only what you do in Christ will last, and it is a privilege and a blessing to be His servant and share the Gospel through songs.

Too Good To Not Believe is my anthem for my family. I haven't heard a song of yours Brandon that I haven't loved and many of them make me cry as I worship. Too Good To Not Believe is the one that I will stand behind my couch and it on UA-cam on my fire stick TV in the living room and as I'm praising and worshiping I'm crying and praying and claiming these lyrics that God gave you for my grandsons who all have issues that they need deliverance from. You're not my grandson but I'm so proud of you for what you've accomplished and I want you to know that I lift you and your wife and your sons in prayer when I am watching you sing your heart out. I want you and your family to be blessed and I want to make sure God keeps you pure and unstained from the world. I'm sure you touch a lot more people than you realize. I'm 73 and I'm so into whatever you write or sing. If you need an extra Grandma I'm right here LOL. Keep writing and keep singing for God 🙏💙

Of course it then broke partway through the song. There is a level, though, guys, that is a desperately lacking level that does have some religious & spiritual experiences in it, even the miraculous, but ultimately it will all be an utter horrific washout, which level is described in Matthew 7:21-23.
To avoid the deceptive nature & destructiveness of this level we must be entirely OBEDIENT to Christ Jesus the Almighty. So, this said, I highly, highly recommend that you read & heed Luke 24:44-49; Acts 2:37-39; 8:12-17; 9:15-18 (also rf. 22:10-17, & 26:12-19); 10:45-48; 16:28-34; 19:1-6; Romans 6:1-9; & Colossians 2:8-12 & 3:17.

I hope you're not trying to compare the psalms to these mens music - most of their music is basically mantras (same verse or chorus repeated over and over again) - widely condemned in the Bible (Matthew 6:7). I would highly recommend watching third adam by Spencer Smith if you want to find out more about this modern Christian music industry, because that's what it is - an industry. It has very little to do with the true worship of God, no matter how much they name drop Jesus in their songs 😊

    • @ArdDanielN
      @ArdDanielN 2 роки тому +2

@@petersingleton8696 what makes the Psalms scripture? Are any Christian songs today inspired by God? What is a vain reputation and what isn’t?
These questions are deeper to answer than merely saying: because the Psalms are in the Bible, only the Psalms of David are inspired, or a vain repetition is repeating the same word or phrase. A deeper analysis is needed to understand these specific questions.
No doubt there is a business side of the Christian music industry, and no doubt there are some songs that don’t do a great job of worshiping God. However, I find an additional scripture from the sermon on the mount that must be included in a conversation like this is Matthew 7:15-20.
I think it is without question that Christian music today brings people to Christ. I know many of these artists personally and can attest to their fruits both on the stage, in their lyrics, and in their communities. Perhaps there is some glorifying of artists that happen both directly and indirectly, yet does that mean it’s every artist and every song?
I write Christian music and I testify that God is very involved in the process. The words and the melodies exist long before an artist ever records them or markets them. Just as many of the Psalms were inspired, many Christian songs today are inspired.

The ONLY thing I listened to in the hospital when I was sick with the virus - "Where I'm Standing Now". It blessed me as I was reminded of all He has done for me, and that whether I lived or died, He holds my life eternally. Thanks so much for sharing your gifts of music💜🕆🕊

THANK YOU for doing this! God showed me MANY things as a songwriter through listening to this & I know that HE caused me to “stumble across this” while looking for something else, “for such a time as this!!!”
I am literally prepping to lead worship for Atlanta Christian Cursillo in March with that theme from Esther 4:14!!!!
I thank GOD for His work in you both that you have shared here. This is so important. THANK YOU!

Hi! Im a worship leader and every time I lead worship I am nervous...nervous that there will be too much of me and not enough of Him when I step out in faith to lead the people, to flow in the prophetic or be spontaneous. But I also know, having this attitude keeps me humble and God's uses me each time. What a honor and blessing it is.

Graves into Gardens.... I lost my dad earlier this year in March and Graves into Gardens was one of the songs that got me through some deep struggles. To hear the process of the songwriting was amazing. God placed this song in my life at the most perfect time. The day we heard my dad wasn't going to make it, we sat bedside listening to worship songs, through the extensive playlist of songs Graves into Gardens stuck with be w/out me even knowing. The very next day I woke up to "there's nothing better than you" over and over in my head for the next week. The more I listened to The song it was encouragement that I know God would get me through this. I couldn't do it on my own. Fast forward weeks pass and I'm struggling and I'm worshipping in church and praying just in a tough emotional state and talking to God and our worship team began singing this song and my mind and heart started racing because I knew it was a sign from God. That day I heard him say give your heart to me and you will be ok. I made the decision to get baptized that day, and i have never been the same since I gave myself and heart to our Father. God is doing great things through y'all and just wanted to say thank you for your God given talent. You are getting people closer to God one song at a time. God bless!

If been a sing guitarist on worship teams since 1972 having come out of a rock background. I've written a lot of songs but have finally decided to get in the recording studio and get them recorded. Pulling from many styles and using instruments not often used in contemporary music I hope that my music will be embraced for it's originality and creativity. You guys do inspire me so keep it up! Blessings!!
