I can't listen to Atavachron without your solo anymore!! It fits so well and reaches a peak, the studio version seems almost anticlimactic in comparison haha :D
Working on Allan's chord changes is the best way to (get humble) and fire up your ability to improvise musically, rather than technically. You made a great demonstration on this point. Good to see more and more people involved in working hard on his wonderful music.
So interesting to hear your take on it with your playing style! So good! I've known about you for years, but I don't think I realized how crazy good you are until now!
It’s weird, I think this is the first time I’ve seen you make some moves that you didn’t seem 100% certain on. It’s fun to see people at your level working on stuff they aren’t totally familiar with yet. Solid work, man, I’d love to see a second go at this when you’ve had more time to feel out the progression.
Well said. UA-cam culture can make it seem that even lesser known musicians are just that good, they dont see the practice, multiple takes and (most often) studio magic that occured to make the video.
I'm waaaaay out of my comfort zone here, there are a couple of cringe moments for me here but also some pretty good stuff, and I thought it would be cool to post a little raw and honest work-in-progress video for my followers :) I love this tune so much and I'll definitely play it a lot more, maybe some day I'll post a new take :)
Per Nilsson I love hearing the out of your comfort zone comment, and how you feel cringeworthy moments! I definitely appreciate the one take more raw guitarists I see on you tube, that don’t have that slightly sped up look to them lol. Please do more like this, signed a new fan
The Objective Critic, the thing is, he soldiered on and did a great job. Most people probably couldn’t tell if watching this that he was uncertain with his choices.
You're immersing yourself in genius just by being able to play Allen’s compositions. It's an area of the musical cosmos that few are able to navigate so well done on doing it justice!
Not many video I get back a lot. I even rewind it and listent to again and again. Cryingly beautiful solo line ideas. Ur face shows you feel glad when improvizing it over.
Mad respect, from another long-time AH fan and player, extra props for giving your own take on the track, which is honestly exactly what AH would have said to do (don't play *me*, play *you*)! For proof, research what he told Jamie Glaser, when JG found himself in the position of taking over AH's spot in JLP's band in the late-mid 70s and JG was a bit panicked!
This is probably, my favorite H tune. My heart races when I hear Jimmy Johnson's bass underneath Allan's solo on the album Atavachron. It is simply superb! So is your playing Per.
Excellent!! As someone who has been making an effort to making videos teaching Allans material on my channel, seeing his name out there in tribute and in covers always makes me happy.
I haven't commented on any of the vids I've seen you in before, but I have to say you are one of the most enjoyable and accomplished guitar players around today. I am a huge Holdsworth (RIP) fan and you sound awesome playing one of his tracks. It's cool for normal guys that you think you actually struggle with anything! Please do some solo music, that would be an instant buy for me.
There couldn’t be a better guitarist for Scar Symmetry! I can’t count how many 5am trips to work I’ve had just blaring your solos. I’ve had people come up to my vehicle and ask me what band I’m listening to. Nothing like a coffee and some of Mr. Nilssons guitar wizardry to prepare you for the day. Keep up the amazing work brother and have fun doing it.
5 thumbs down. What could you possibly base your thumbs-down on except a desire to be a jerk on the internet? Proud of yourselves for such a noble achievement?
Masterful by any measure Brother Per! And yes, Holdsworth is to this day my favorite guitarist, one of a kind. A stunning tribute that would have Alan smiling. TY
That was cool to find out, is Allan improvised all of his solos usually. I usually don't write solos, so I liked to see someone do interesting solos on the spot.
You're right, it's definitely one of Holdsworth's more melodic and musically accessible tunes, but still has amazing solos with enough of his uncanny playing all around the right notes without hitting any of them. Atavachron was the first AH album I bought and still my favourite! I hope Per uploads a full rendition of this one.
I always almost cry when I get back this impro over Holdsworth. No idea why Rick Beato does not mention you when made a video recently on the 'Gilmour effect'. He didnt mention Matteo Mancuso either.
Improvising over these chord changes is tricky AF
If I'm half this good at anything, I'll be satisfied. Lol, keep it up, dude!
Per Nilsson well you just made tricky AF sound rather tasty AF
Sounding great brother. 🤘👍😁
Yet you make it look so easy. Sounds wicked!
Watching you it doesn't seem tricky at all actually seems playful. Awesome!
“Having a go”
He had help from slosh bro chill
he has a really good gaming chair bro
rude
Bro…..the fact he didn’t love your comment says it all. Trying to be funny didn’t work did it…..
yes
Tasty as hell
Wasn't expecting you here. Love your stuff btw
I love you Rick Graham
High praise indeed Per!
You guys are both INCREDIBLE players ❤❤❤
I love you both lol
This is pretty awesome... two giants
Allan Holdsworth will never be forgotten.
If you cover this live with Meshuggah, my life will be complete.
The whole universe is gonna explode if that actually happened.
1:39 normally executed by Allan Holdsworth's extra finger on his alien left hand. Nice work sir..
Come on man, why are all these video so short? Give me an unedited 20min version of Per just noodling around and I'll watch it!
Yassssss!!!! Pleeeeze!!!
THIS! YES!
Release that solo album Ffs!
Indeed
YES PLEASE!!!
@@shitmandood are guy's brother?
Fantastic. I really like the fact you are playing your own solo and not a note for note copy.
I can't listen to Atavachron without your solo anymore!! It fits so well and reaches a peak, the studio version seems almost anticlimactic in comparison haha :D
Amazing ! Holdsworth is one of the greatest musicians I have ever heard, you do him proud!
'Having a go' is somewhat underselling this. Absolutely awesome!
Allan would love that you are playing your own solo and so do I. That's jazz.
I read the headline and gave it a thumbs up.
It's Per and it's Holdsworth, how could that ever be bad?
Great solo in the right feeling.
Very well done.
Oh Man, it 's beautiful. Holdsworth's chord progression make my cry. No any cheesiness but smart deconstruction and rebuilt
Working on Allan's chord changes is the best way to (get humble) and fire up your ability to improvise musically, rather than technically. You made a great demonstration on this point. Good to see more and more people involved in working hard on his wonderful music.
just realized that Per follows the keyboard solo then the bass line from a concert recording:)
Brings tears to my eyes.
So interesting to hear your take on it with your playing style! So good! I've known about you for years, but I don't think I realized how crazy good you are until now!
0:36 killed me. Love this vid

@@ScarGuitar u did great man!!! Plus Holdsworth is one of my fave guitarist, RIP!!
The Objective Critic, the thing is, he soldiered on and did a great job. Most people probably couldn’t tell if watching this that he was uncertain with his choices.
I love hearing guitarists push themselves. Well done.
Hmm, now I know why Thordendal chose you for the tour.
These changes are difficult to listen to, let alone play over! You have this clearly under control. Tone and taste are perfect. Thanks for that.
Per! I'm now an instant fan. Why? Because you played YOU over these tough changes. Very well played!!!!
Sweden has officially an alien masked as a guitar hero....this is out of this world, dude! How do you want your fries?
You're immersing yourself in genius just by being able to play Allen’s compositions.
It's an area of the musical cosmos that few are able to navigate so well done on doing it justice!
this is seriosly one of my favorite videos of all time. and i have watched way over 100.000 videos.

I see this as not only a wonderful improv but also a powerfull tribute to Allan and his contributions to music and guitar.
Amazing that you have the chops and sensitivity and the musicianship to approach his vibe........great job all in all unreal
Beautiful playing, so much emotion, expression, and technique. Very enjoyable.
Wow, like this. Great sense of melody. Big thumbs up!

On a motorcycle? :/
Per, I hope you continue to develop this way. It is wonderful. Btw, what a guitar tone!
You and Holdsworth.. simply the best at what you do! You're guitar playings give me happiness.
Gentle Giant with a big heart is your aura despite the Beard and the intense guitar color . You are amazing
a beautiful melody over a beautiful chord sequence...nailed it, sir...
one of the best role models and musicians in the entire shred scene.
brilliant tone. I just signed up for Fortin NTS plugins. Selling my axe fx. Well done mate.
Wow! Brilliant playing and gorgeous tone. Thanks
5 thumbs down. What could you possibly base your thumbs-down on except a desire to be a jerk on the internet? Proud of yourselves for such a noble achievement?
Probably voted for Brexit too.
Fantastic indeed.
Omg this is amazing. Wonderful improvisation.
Masterful by any measure Brother Per! And yes, Holdsworth is to this day my favorite guitarist, one of a kind. A stunning tribute that would have Alan smiling. TY
Amazing. The phrasing starting from 0:17 reminds me of Eric Johnson somehow.
Great progression. Awesome playing
This is brilliant stuff. Texture, feel and powerful drive. Quite a treat. Cheers.
your amazing dude, sick holdsworth cover. Really one of the best
One of my favorite songs of Allan’s!
Beautiful playing!!!😎🤘🙏
That's a hard one, and very well done!
Incredible playing , bravo sir ✌️🏴
Sounds great. I would love to hear some more Allan Holdsworth music from you.

Thx for this! RIP Allan - you were my favorite.
That tone is getting inside in my skin.🤘🤘🤘

Beautiful Phrasing already in these changes ❤️ so inspiring track from Allan too, love it ❤️ :')
I knew you could do it. You da man :o)
Beautiful work, but for Odin's sake put that helmet on!
Somewhere, Allan is smiling. Bravo.
Wow Per.
You always find a way to absolutely stun me. Nice work.
Bro that was insane!
Amazing dude, sounds really good
I almost gave a thumbs down for cutting it off at 1:47! Why?! I guess I'll just play it over and over and I'm a DRUMMER!
Incredible. We’d love to see you post more on UA-cam, Per. Thanks for sharing your talent.
i can never get tired of listening to this. very melodic to my ear. love the scale change.
You're right, it's definitely one of Holdsworth's more melodic and musically accessible tunes, but still has amazing solos with enough of his uncanny playing all around the right notes without hitting any of them. Why so short ? I could listen to that solo for hours !
Brilliant!!! Great phrasing, tone and a great choice of tune. Love the guitar too. If I hadn't been drinking I'd swear that those frets are wobbily!
I always almost cry when I get back this impro over Holdsworth. No idea why Rick Beato does not mention you when made a video recently on the 'Gilmour effect'. He didnt mention Matteo Mancuso either.
this lick from 0:54 to 1:03 is just so beautiful! ITs a portal to heaven! FFS! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic, Per :)
Thanks a lot 😍
That part at 1:08 is majestic!
Dude that was fucking amazing...love it!
Such a great job!
You have the talent of making your improvisations sound better than the originals.
yeah it's obvious where you got that fluidity from haha. Damn well played
Incredible ❗️
Beautiful.
Dont get tired watching Per’s videos
Super tidy. Thanks for sharing this.
MSK Guitars I read this in my head as “super titty” 😂
I love your feel & smooth transits between the passages ... Just Wow Man !
Absolutely killer on every level maestro
Whoah! Very cool Per!
Man, I love this tone. Great job!
