The Obliterate plugin sounds dope AF! Remind me of that sweet, sweet distortion that was all over industrial sounds of the 90's that not a single plugin seems to be able to replicate properly.
It's ideal for hardware devices because it skips drivers and compatibility issues with the os. It's its own thing not having to pair with the OS and the interface on a webpage being hosted by the device being how the user interacts with it.
My guess is Waves will release IDX Pro in a few months after having had people learn how to use the cut down version. IDX will be like a perpetual "demo version" that introduces people to it. Native Instruments Supercharger (free)... then Supercharger GT. Replica (free), then Replica XT. IDX (free) then IDX Pro? Makes sense.
4:37 Cause chrome/chromium finally supports USB/Serial controll, so it's way easier to develop a web app that will work cross-platform and will be easy to update, will work the same on any OS. I love this cause I'm sick of installing an app to setup anything and... I also a linux user so a lot of these are not ported to my OS.
Just one addition: its not the same as an elektron app. An elektron app comes with its own browser. Here you use your existing browser to access some data on an external device. This data never has to touch your computer outside your browser, so this practically means you can configure it WITHOUT INSTALLING ANYTHING AT ALL on your pc. So this also means less bugs that can crash your PC and kill your process.
i use polyverses filterverse, it has all the filters you'll even need, and there are still more filters to come but it is already impressive what you can do with it
There was actually a pretty cool iOS app that let you do the basic “play a chord with a button” thing. Really nice for the bar / coffee shop idea thing. 👏🏻
Don’t agree with u a lot of times but I will say I value ur opinion and will always check ur video before I buy a plugin so ik what to expect. I do think we need ppl like u in the space tho it keeps companies and ppl more in check
Yes, you should just go ahead and learn keys or the guitar. As a person who put off learning the guitar, when I finally put in a solid year of practice, music just became much less difficult. Absolutely zero regrets and I wish I had done it sooner. All these gadgets that make you think they can replace actually playing are scams. If you want to make original music it's difficult to do without being able to play a little
IDX waves Obliterate chords, mini Nexus and Burr gives brother Corrigan chilly reception but at least the Air is clear, got it thanks and good job over and out🤓
My best guess for the minichord using a browser based system is it would make it universal to anything with a file manager. Havent looked into it but from the demo it has an internal storage and plugs into usb, so it might be functioning like a flash drive. Which would mean anything that can access a usb can modify it. So in theory that would make it windows/mac/linux/android compatible. Take all this with a grain of salt as i havent dug into it but it seems to be a pretty clean design. A portable device that can be used with a mobile daw would be pretty neat. Odds are tho they just lack the know how to build an app since it is still just a prototype 🤣
You are literally repeating what everyone else says before even using it. That was the sentiment up to version 4.X. Now it is a fully fledged synth. Watch the Doctor Mix video how they are creating presets from scratch. Looking at product page screen shots is showing nothing about the actual synth.
I would try Waves plugins if they don't make it so hard. Just let me download the installer and use it. I don't want to install Waves Central. And give me Catalina support
Can't get idx recognized by reaper...why? My first vst honestly and couldn't make it happen. So I grabbed a bunch of others and they worked fine but not idx...
IDX not free on cyber monday? Oh no, guess ill forget it exists in about five minutes then just have a lingering distrust every time I see it listed at $79
Not only are easier approach devices better for those who cant play chords 'classically' (like me). Specificallly any new student will benefit a lot from it. Think of guitar lessons. The practices to learn chord playing are boring but necessary. The music theory about chords sounds shit whenever you play it because you are still learning the mechanics to it. Imagine there is such a chord device that fits into the playstyle of different instruments, such that as a student you could build up from the muscle memory of that device to the actual instrument you want to play. Learning theory hassle free and while being able to produce nicely sounding noises immediately, along the way.....
That multiband filter is dope. The thing I was most happy about is it brings a spectral analyzer to the mpc, which was badly needed. And then they hooked it up for the free. One step closer to being a full daw
why a webpage and not an app? it's much easier to develop. creating cross platform apps with proper UIs is somehow still a pain in the ass, for simple interfaces web technologies sadly are the best option.
Webpage is much better as it's cross-platform on the get-go. Not having to install some bullshit app is WAY better, I hate having a million apps running because everyone and their grandmother thinks not updating my fucking synth apps will eventually kill me.
I was going to hit the like button, but there was something I did not like. I think you should be a little more informed about Waves plugins, because you have had a lot to say about their subscription model, which I agree with; but you somehow are NOT informed that they ALWAYS do a free black friday plugin now. Last year the free waves black friday plugin was 'lil tube.' I do agree with you on subscriptions and update plans being lame and feeling like cash grabs, but you not giving them credit for the regular yearly free things, or you just figured out live in this vid? lol and.. the fact that you didn't know Waves has been doing free black Friday drops, makes me wonder how much you even use their stuff, or producer in general.
@@thomasjeffery So far even my oldest waves plugin I bought which i believe was back in version 10 still works. Maybe it will happen one day to me but that was sooo long ago and I have no issues. “IDF” 😂 Deep cut.
Making waves with that one.
I don't need Obliterate to make my listeners angry

And he's BACK!
Waves has released a new free plugin for black friday the last few years now. It's not an anomaly anymore.

New IDF plugin just dropped. Gotta move out soon.
It's kicking all non-Waves plugins off of your computer
Well, Waves Audio is an Israeli company, sooo...
@trivialmess2480 oof, I was not aware actually.
Minichord looks like it belongs on a RadioShack shelf in 1977.
I'm here for the RadioShack-core setup
You forgot to mention that Obliterate was from Newfangled Audio (i.e., Eventide). That alone should sell people!
@heretic4521 This isn't a sell though, it's just news.
With a webpage being hosted by the device, you don't have to install a program and it will work on any os with a browser.
It's ideal for hardware devices because it skips drivers and compatibility issues with the os. It's its own thing not having to pair with the OS and the interface on a webpage being hosted by the device being how the user interacts with it.

Newfangled Audio rock so hard. I have all of their stuff. The Generate synth is excellent, and their mixing and mastering plug-ins are the best.
I only have Generate and Equivocate, and they are pretty amazing.

Multiband Filterbank’s drive on the low band creates a Maxxbass-like effect that creates a pleasingly furry low end.

Webpage: hosted internally on the device. Probably an ESP32 or similar and they have a stack for web serving internally.

The Minichord is an open-source DIY thing but it might go into production if enough people like the video.
Ultra close up!
Web page cuz its easier to build and its more portable, you don't need to install it but u can run a web page on everything
When they say IDX on all instruments do they mean master bus? Or all instruments routed to a mixer bus with this on it?
Does this waves plugin / waves use any of that nonsense system hijacking license management stuff?
Idk probably

I assume the web page is just an internal page, meaning it's fed all the app information from the device without needing an installer.
Nexus Price is crazy
don't know what they did to the drums before using IDX, who would have drums sounding like wool
4:39 Why a webpage and not an app? So you don't need to install an app.

this is a lot of positivity… weaver’s been replaced by a pod person
Nexus 5 is definitely not limitless. It's more like you are working at reFx designing presets for the plugin. Like under the hood.

To their credit, version 5 is a huge step up. You can now make your own presets from scratch if you want. Or dissect the existing ones.
