when you said Zuko's Dragon was name after my country flag. I was mind blown. This is the first time I heard Bhutan name being reference in Avatar Video.
I’d love it if someone drew something like this Zuko: you never really killed the sun warrior dragons, did you? Iroh: *spits tea* WHAAT? Ofcourse I did!
And the Lion Turtles are the original energy benders, connected with cosmic energy. They so ‘woke’ lol Also I heard Lion-Turtles basically count as certain Asian conceptions of dragons. Dragons are a blend of different animals. Deer head, serpent body (some turtles!), eagle legs, and fish scales. Lion-Turtles appear as lion head, ape face, turtle body, eagle legs And you reminded me of how much I want a Komodo Dragon! Lol
A friend of mine made some good points about Sozin's Comet, which I would like to see resolved. In the show, it is said that the Comet gives Firebenders so much power that they're nearly invincible. When fighting Aang, Phoenix King Ozai uses that extreme power at nearly point blank on Aang's improvised earth shield ball to defeat him. However, it takes Ozai multiple shots from a few meters distance (METERS! METRIC SYSTEM 4 DA WIN!) AND a shot at literal point blank to destroy said shield! And it still takes him a few seconds at point blank! How come?!
Or Ozai was just enjoying too much tormenting Aang. Ozai perhaps intentionally didn’t fire blast the earth ball at full capacity to make Aang suffer a bit more. You can see that Ozai was really having fun. It’s like a predator playing with his prey type of thing.
The comet didn't make them invincible, it was more of a temporary power amp, anywhere from a 10x to a 100x boost depending if you want to take the whole "endow them with the strength of a hundred suns" quote literally, and the show makes a point in Ozai's actions to show that until he charges that final blast he wasn't actually going all out against aang and was just toying with him
I AM SO FRIGGIN EARLY Luv ur channel, Also I have the theory that the two dragons are the spirits of the sun and and the storm (referring to Ran and Sha/Shaw)
I have always found it weird that the creators of Avatar chose the bison to be the original animal bender for the element of air. Is there a lore that associates bisons to flying, to air? Why the bison out of so many animal choices? The other original benders made sense. Dragons for fire because dragons breath fire in myths and legends. Badgermoles for earth because badgers and moles are ground/underground animals. Moon/koi fish for water because the moon affects tides and fish live in water. And then bisons for air? Bison, of all animals. It’s seems conceptually disjointed. A big brawny mammal for a very light, gentle element. Why not a type of bird as birds are symbols of freedom and flight? or a winged creature from any lore? If they wanted a non-winged animal, why not gazelles or horses as they swiftly run like the wind? wild horses are nomadic too and there are horse lores in oriental/asian cultures too. Why bison?-a large-sized heavy mammal for air? It’s like choosing sperm whales as the original benders for earth, or the jellyfish as the original benders for fire, or a bat-chicken for water. See, I think the original benders should somehow make sense to their element. Bison and air, to my knowledge, and personal opinion, don’t have enough reasonable correlation.
I actually have thought of the same thing. the other OG benders made sense to their element. but conceptually, bison is a strange animal choice for air. *Fire* = *dragons* *Water* = *moon/koi fish* *Earth* = *badgermoles* *Air* = *bison* (why bison?)
i think it's because bison roam the earth a bit like nomads and also if the original bender was a bird of some sort it wouldn't need air bending to fly because they can already fly with their wings
It's kinda sad this story doesn't match up with the lionturtle history we got in legend of korra. The only way they both fit in the avatar universe is if one of the origin sories is just zn urban legend.
wouter cleyman not really, the lion turtles gave humans the power to bend the elements then those arts were perfected by learning from the original benders. The spirit world lore in Korea sucks though. I like Wan’s story (minus the stupidity that is harmonic convergence!) personally and the idea the first avatar bridged the gap between humans and spirits. Separating the worlds. The avatar being able to use all four elements due to being a union of man and spirit also made sense. Wan’s life goal should have been doing that though. Founding the sun warriors when meeting the people who left his home lion turtle city. Making treaties with the spirits and humans. Learning water bending by seeing how the moon pulls the ocean and seeing the sky bison with the air nomads on the flying lion turtle and learning from the nomads there, since they were already skilled air benders. The only bending art he didn’t have to learn well himself would be Earth bending really. Learning water bending to heal was likely allowed by the water lion turtle (would explain the sexist views of the northern tribe, men use water bending only when hunting. Women use it to heal since they don’t leave the city) so wan likely stays to learn that before leaving and mastering it with knowledge from his Rava equivalent. But, they had to make a dark avatar. For some reason. It’s not like Korra was struggling with the spiritual side of being the avatar and reverence for the spirits was falling in the world overall. Wait a minute! Yeah. Spirits ruined Korea for me. The equalists were interesting, Korra being a prodigy who could master elements easily didn’t bother me (she did figure out she was the avatar herself), Mako was dead weight and Asami x Korra needed polish but rewatching the series wasn’t unfeasible. But, nothing makes sense after harmonic convergence. It just doesn’t
Greetings, so I just watched your Avatar Spin-off idea video, and I think it sounds really good. I was thinking maybe there could be an arc where a Fire Nation guy joins the army to gain some status for his family, he thinks it'll gain him honor. So he joins, and fights some battles, but years drag on.. and he begins to wonder when the war will end, if it'll ever end. And he sees the oppression being put onto the people's of the other nations, and that the mission that he was taught that the Fire Nation says it's for( sharing it's prosperity and such) hasn't actually come to pass, for the majority anyways. So he goes awol, and goes on a spiritual journey, and he eventually discovers the Sun warriors, and joins them, becoming their guardian. He'd later die defending them from intruders, and those who seek their dragons. Which is why we'd never see this character in the original Avatar series.
Wait- aren’t polar bear dogs the original airbenders? That was a joke from the episode where milo hopped on naga, pulled her ears and yelled yip yip fly sky bison fly. Sorry that was a bad joke
I think the Sun Warriors really did go extinct, and the people Aang and Zuko met were people trying to recreate them, just like Wiccans try to recreate Celtic Druidism, or the new airbenders recreated the Air Nomads.
I have a theory So the avatar has an animal guide what if the avatar's animal guide was reincarnated like the avatar so fang (Roku's animal guide) is appa
i was fricking suprised when i saw the videos with same topic and thumbnail on both channels i was like wait they both know each other and i am subscribed to both of them nice
But the thing is the original Airbender didn't learn Airbender from sky bison the got their powers from lion turtles we know this because the first avatar wan witnessed a lion turtle giving a person airbending
Both are true in a sense, since it was heavily implied in AtLA sky bison taught people how to air bend when Aang said they were the original air benders. TLoK only loosely follows the lore from AtLA so trying to come to a conclusion between the two will always be messy.
I enjoyed both videos they were very well done, but I have to point out that the air nomads don’t choose their own bison we learn from Opal in the legend of Korra that the bison choose them
I never understood, in legend of Korra it shows the lion turtles gave humans the power to bend, but in avatar it says the first earth benders learned from the badgermoles
So the lion turtles gave humans the ability to bend the energy around them(basically the energy is the elements). Humans learned to bend the elements through the animals movements(like wan learning the dancing dragon in the video or the waterbenders using the motion of the ocean while the moon is out to bend water in ATLAB).
Do you still have the question or was it answered? I’m not sure. As an answer to ur question, the lion turtles gave humans POWER to bend. The first benders were (I’m pretty sure) born with the power, who then teach the humans how to REALLY bend. Like, aang is born with the power to airbend, but has to be thought how to master it.
I kinda want you guys to do a theory. So there are the foggy swamp benders, sun warriors, pirates, ect but what if the avatar was to turn into one of these obscure civilizations
Good stuff but the sky bison were not the original air benders. The original Air nomads tattoos were T shaped but later generations adopted the arrow look when they transitioned to the sky bison for air bending.
I just never understood it they’re lion turtles that granted people bending when visiting sprits outside,10000 ag then how are these guys the originals n showed people how to bend when people were granted bending from lion turtles ? In 110 ag the way it’s explained idk hole somewhere in story
